For the past few days I've been getting sharp, constants aches in my left lower abdomen. Yesterday, it got much worse and my side is starting to swell up. I couldn't sleep at all last night because I'm incapable of positioning myself so it doesn't hurt. The pain has now spread to my lower back and I'm uncomfortable sitting, standing, or lying down.
I researched the symptoms and the only cause I can find is ectopic pregnancy. I plan on calling my doctor as soon as his office opens today, but for now I was wondering--
Does anyone know what this could be, besides ectopic pregnancy? Please, someone, offer me any other excuse. I don't want to think about this gonk

I had pains very, VERY similar to those. And they turned out to be just round ligament pains from your uterus expanding and getting bigger and moving crap around. It could very well be that but if there is a history of ectopic pregnancies in your family you should go see a doctor just in case.
Anyways read this article just in case:

My doctor agrees with you, AerynsMommy. He just mentioned that if the pain intensified, or the swelling, to scoot my butt to an ER asap, just in case.

Oh God! That round ligament s**t is awful. I was worried about the same thing at first. But it's very normal for pregnant women to overworry.

The worst is when people tell you not to worry or stress. I'm like: "b***h, you try being pregnant!" lol.

THIS IS AS CALM AS I'M EVER GETTING! D< D< D<" Like when I cry too. People don't understand. Ugh. What is the round ligament thing?

bluemouse It could just be Braxton Hick Contractions. I agree. Most women have contractions throught their entire pregnancy. Its just when they become consistent is when you may be in labor. I had to to go the hospital because I thought I was going in eaerly labor but they just ended up being seperate contractions.
