Dianaimh sat at the very top of the ridge, her legs crossed and her chin resting pensively in her hand. The sun was high overhead and the desert stretched out seemingly endlessly before her. They were nestled among the rocks where they had a good vantage point of anything that tried to get near them.

Behind her, Eich-Uisge and Donall were talking together in a low voice. She rolled her head back to look just as Eich wound up and threw a stone as hard as he could off the other edge of the ridge.

“What are you doing?” she asked irritably.

“Dunno,” he replied, “But there’s something moving down there. So I’m throwing rocks at it to see what happens.”

She perked up and glanced around her feet for any sizable rocks. Apparently the two had already hoarded them.

“Hey-hey,” she said, hopping off her perch, “Give me one!”

Eich was the first to oblige. She leaned over the edge of the ridge, looking down to where a shadow was rippling among the scattered rocks. It was difficult to tell what it was… but she took her best guess as to where the source of the shadow was and lobbed her rock in a high arc with a soft giggle.

THUD.

A low groan was heard drifting up the steep slope of the rocks, pebbles and stones rumbling as they were thrown aside, a dark form emerging from it's shaded hiding spot. Yellow glowing eyes glared up at the pack, lip curling upwards to show rows of long teeth.

It wasnt very small.. about th same size of one of them. Perhaps a bit bigger. It's skin looked like it was caked with mud and sand, brown and rough in texture. Over all his apperance would have been described as animalistic, like a raccoon or beaver perhaps. But it stood on it's hind legs, paws thick and wide. It's tail looked large and heavy, like a long boulder hooked to it's spine.

It fisted a paw and raised it to shake at them. "Barbarians! Roughians! Distrubers of peace!! Stop it before I report you to your master!"

Donall dissolved into a fit of laughter while Eich-Uisge raised his fist and shook it at the Nightmare below.

“Our master doesn’t care!” he cried, “We’re free to do what we want! ‘sides, who are YOU to be talking to our master anyway? He wouldn’t want anything to do with rabble.”

That done, he planted himself firmly on the ridge and crossed his arms across his chest smugly. Dianaimh, however, had backed up a bit at the mention of Eros and started looking for the nearest way down off the ridge and out of here.

“We won’t get in trouble for throwing rocks,” Rón said softly to her, “Go on. Throw another rock. I dare you.”

She blinked and considered it for a moment.

He growled, his skin seeming to stiffen up even more as his heavy, huge tail raised, then slammed down on the boulder beside him. It made the rocks around them shake and crumble, waves almost as poweful as a small earthquake shaking the terrain. The boulder that had been the unfortuniate victim of his tail was quickly reduced to fine dust as he hit it one last time, sending a wave of thick sand over the ledges to wrap around the pack, almost so thick they couldnt see or breathe. But unfortunitly the attack didnt last long before the dust settled to the rocks around them.

"Who am I!?" He snarled and shook his fist again. "I am the very creator of your precious home, the sand that you live and walk upon!"

For a moment the pack was silent. Eich-Uisge had been knocked off his feet by the shockwave and hadn’t gotten around to picking himself up again. Dianaimh had dropped the rock she was going to throw and was once again looking for an escape route. Donall was speechless and Rón Ghlas Mór was the only one willing to step up and address the strange and now terrifying creature they’d irritated.

“Pardon us,” he said serenely, “We had no idea that you could, err, reduce us all to dust. But, may… well, may we come down there and see you better without being torn apart? We’re very sorry about the rocks. It was just a game. We were bored.”

“A common fault of ours,” Dianaimh added from the rear, starting to regain her courage.

"Hmph.." His thin black eyes narrowed further at them, then slowly his tail lowered with a clunk, creating a much smaller quake and dust cloud. Now that he was a tad calmer, a thick accent was obvious in his voice. A human equivilant would be some kind of north-eastern european voice.. Thick and rough, like scottland's natives.

"If ye' want ta come down 'er, I aint gonna stop ya'." His fist loosened and he lowered it, slinking back into the shadows slowly.

The pack had a brief conference with each other, huddling close together and talking in whispers. Finally Dianaimh leapt off the side of the ridge and slid down in a small shower of dirt and pebbles.

“Ya’ll are cowards,” she called back up to the other three, “Get down here!”

After a moment Eich-Uisge and Donall followed, Rón carrying up the rear. Then Dianaimh carefully walked among the boulders until she reached where the Nightmare was. She stopped a respectful distance away, watching with her hands clasped behind her back.

“So who are you?” she finally aid, “I’m Dianaimh. We haven’t heard of anyone here that looks like you and can do the things you… do. Did. Sir.”

The formality was added as an after-thought.

The sound of fluttered wings could be heard, as the hot wind blew across the dry and barren land. The land seemed to respond to the faint sound of wings, twisting and turnings its hills as well as the large rock formations that towered in the back ground.

Again, the sound of wings echoed out once more, but no creature showed after words, though now a faint, inaudible sound soon followed, as if words were being twisted into what now sounded like a low growl.

The emotion of fear now swept over the land, taking hold of anys heart that was open enough to be tainted by the raw power.

Guardian of the land had been awoke, he usually slumbered atop one of the many rock formations that dotted across the azure skyline, but now, he was there to see who disturbed his home, and the home of the creatures safe from emotional wrath.

Chris stood at the edge of the ruins, staring out across the horizon. Cealg hadn't said hardly anything to her after their introduction and now he was just perched up on top of one of the pillars. How he'd gotten that high up was beyond her guess - she hadn't been watching when he'd climbed it. Or flown. Or whatever the heck it was he could do.

"There's rocks in the distance," she finally said. No reply from her strange host. Chris paused a moment in irritation. "I'm going to go see what they are."

"Really would advise against that." At last he spoke. But there was a lazy superiority in his voice and Chris spun and glared up at him. It was hard to see him because of the sun and she squinted at his blurry form.

"Oh?"

"It's not safe."

"Why not?"

"I'm not going to waste time explaining. I know you. You'll do what you want."

For a moment Chris was frozen, trying to find a reply. She finally just had to swallow that yes, he was right, she was going to leave this forsaken ruin and go exploring for some sign of reality around here. After all - this was her dream, right? You couldn't be injured or die in dreams.

So without another word she walked off and left Cealg behind. He watched her go and then leapt from the column, landing and staying in a crouch for a few moments, the desert wind blowing through his hair.

"No," he whispered, "You'll do what I want you to do, little human. Go on then, and find some other Nightmare in this realm. I'll be you shadow..."

And chuckling to himself, he skirted off across the desert, following the human footsteps left in the sand.

Yukio placed his hands upon his hips and stared at the flat stone 'floor'. No matter how many times he swept it clean, the blowing sands always started to recover it. He felt a little torn over whether he liked this or not. Brushing his fingers through his short hair, he paced along the borders, musing and fussing as was becoming his habit on how plain and uninteresting...how...unpretty the enterance to his little haven was.

"It utterly lacks any taste. Terrible...certainly not a fitting place for me...but at the same time...easily hidden, less likely to be discovered...what a problem!" He whined softly to himself. Curling his bottom lip in betweeh his teeth, he began to nibble upon the fleshy part. It really was terrible...waiting all this time for Seidra to fall asleep so he could get at her. A utter torment really, not having his pretty girl to play with. It left his with soooo much time and little to do with it!

It was blistering hot and it seemed like she had been walking for at least an hour. Of course, considering the sun hadn't moved at all, that was difficult to tell. How did time change in this place? Did it change at all?

She'd once heard someone say that in hell, there were no sunsets. Instead, the sky bled and that was what turned day into night. It seemed appropriate and Chris shook her head stubbornly. This was a dream. Hyper-reality, but still just a dream.

So stinking hot. Sighing, Chris sat down on one of the rocks at the base of the crag she'd been making for. The surface was fairly sheer but still climbable. Once she caught her breath she'd give it a try and see if she could make anything else from the vantage point.

The rock was scorching hot through her jeans. Chris shifted uncomfortably. Maybe she shouldn't have left Cealg behind... as uncomfortable as she was around him, at least she'd have someone to talk to.

And really, why did he make her nervous? He'd kind of protected her in some way, and if he was her making - well, he would be something she could understand, right? She put her chin in her palms and thought on this for a moment, momentarily forgetting about her surroundings and the blistering heat.

There was not going to be any way he'd be happy with this. That final thought produced a sulky pout. If he prettiedup the place, or at the very least made it more appealing to the eye, it would make the place wide and open for all the other Nightmares he just knew had to be crawling over this sandy place. Yukio was not too fond of the idea of having any random Nightmare crossing his path. Most of them would be aggressive, dangerouse, or ugly. The few that he felt would be worth the trouble of crossing paths weren't likely to be around here. That was why he liked Incultra, because of the heat and sands and oh so unhospitiableness of the place you didn't expect to see a lone girl trudgeing under the hot sun......

Yukio paused in his fussy paceing, his head lifting and dark blue eyes blinking. "Girl?" Twisting about on one foot Yukio moved to the edge of the stone 'floor' and peered out. He didn't feel like he was suffering from any sort of heat exhaustion, so he certainly wasn't hallucinating or seeing a mirage. For the briefest of moments he had hoped that perhaps Seidra had fallen asleep, and come to him unconsciously...but no... it only took him a few moments of stufy to see all the things wrong with this girl. her hair was the wrong colors, her body frame wasn't quite the same. no no...Not his Seidra..still..

"Now what...is a girl doing wandering all so alone out here?" Perhaps it was another Nightmare...if so he certainly should go and inspect! Fluttering his hands up to his hair, he brushed it back from his face, and took a vain moment to readjust his purple ribbon. Just because he was over hot did not mean he had the right to show up like a nasty sweaty pig! With a flip of his short hair and a little bounce to his step, Yukio began to lightly pick his way over the sands and towards a crumbling ruin of stone. A shame he couldn't actually float over, it would have made passing over the sands much more pleasent if he had managed that little trick! Now all he had to do was think up a stunning little enterance line and he'd be ready! Or at the very least figure out what angle he should approch at that wouldn't cast too much sun or shadow on his pretty features....

Chris saw a shadow moving behind her and she started. Leapt up from the rock and turned, a word half-formed on her lips.

"Ceal-oh."

For a moment she stared at Yukio. He was a pretty boy. Definitely a pretty boy. Cealg was certainly along the lines of a pretty boy but he didn't flaunt it. There was this veiled air of... something around him. She couldn't quite place it. But there was definitely something to Cealg that she didn't know yet. And this one? Blatant pretty boy. Why was she dreaming up this kind of stuff? Was there something her subconscious was trying to tell her?

"Pardon?" she said curiously, "But who are you? A-and can you tell me anything about where I am?"

Maybe this was all just a vision-quest or a trance like all those old stories and mythologies talked about. Bitterly, she cursed her subconscious for picking a desert though.

Not...as pretty as his Seidra. Most assuredly not. her hair wasn't nearly dark enough, and she hadn't done anything to decorate it the way his Seidra had. Lovely white gold streaks! When he finally had her he would make her SUCH a pretty doll! Still...he couldn't be too picky about company when it came to killing time before he could get ahold of his Seidra again.

"Cealoe? Is that a strange hello?" He replied first and foremost. She had utterly ruined his chance at making a memorable first meeting, what with jumping up and greetinghim first. Perhaps she had eyes in the back of her head? How utterly creepy!

"Who am I? Thats what I came over here to ask you incedently. I am Yukio, this is my part of the desert your wandering through. I suppose I can't be upset though, I haven't really marked it or anything. Are you out here alone?"
