STEP ONE: Create a Journal! Please go to the journal subforum, look over the rules, then create a new thread! This will be your Nightmare's Journal and private RP thread.
STEP TWO: What stage is your Nightmare? Stages infulence how your Nightmare will be played. If your NM is only a fear, then you have to play it in your journal. At this stage the NM is weak, and can't transport it's human to Nightscape yet.
Fears are played like ghosts or spirits. They can talk to you, and influence things. For instance, moving things, or possessing things. But it has no physical body. Be creative!
Once the Nightmare has reached the terror stage, it can pull it's human into the Nightscape, which is the world that Nightmares live in. It can only be reached when the human is asleep. When the person wakes up, they are fine. Meaning all injuries in this world do not transfer to the real world. In the terror stage, the Nightmare has aquired a body, but it will not be any bigger then a small animal or child. Small animal meaning a meduim to large sized dog.
Once your Nightmare has reached the demon stage, it is much bigger and more frightening. It can vary in size, but most demons range from 6-15 feet tall. Some of the more powerful ones are even bigger.
STEP THREE: Where does my Nightmare live? Nightmares live in different regions, which categorize their fears. Your Nightmare's home is on it's cert, so just note which one he lives in, then go to that thread! If your Nightmare has 'wander' on it's tag, then it is a traveler. It has no set home, (unless you want to create one in play).
If your Nightmare does have a set home, you must play there, unless you have permission from me! First offenders will get a warning, and if it's repeated I will ban you.
STEP FOUR: What is my Nightmare's phobia? Your Nightmare's fear has to do with the way it acts and is played. For example, a Nightmare that is the fear of drowning would never use fire to tease and scary it's victims. The Nightmare's personality is up to you, but please keep it's quirks and methods similar to it's phobia.
STEP FIVE: What level is my Nightmare? A Nightmare's level is the amount that is has been RPed and tamed. ALL Nightmares, even if starting at the demon stage, start at level 1. Here are the levels and it's relationship to it's human:
Level 1: The Nightmare is starting to interact with it's human, and it pretty much hates him/her. Level 2: The Nightmare has gotten used to it's human, but still doesn't like him/her. Level 3: At this level a Nightmare can start talking civily to it's human, though it still dislikes the human and will scare him/her. Level 4: Your Nightmare has started to grow slightly fond of it's human, but still scares him/her. Level 5: It is at this level the Nightmare becomes nicer. But only slightly. It doesn't scare it's human as much. Level 6: It will start to give it's human tests of courage, and if the human passes, respect is gained from the Nightmare. The human isn't seen as just prey now, but a student. Level 7: There is a bit of evidence that the Nightmare doesn't seem quite as disturbing looking to the human. Level 8: The Nightmare respects the human now, they can interact without being afraid. Level 9: The Nightmare and Human are friends. Level 10: The human has compeltely mastered it's Nightmare. The are not only friends, but loyal companions. Your Nightmare can create a Hope now.
STEP SIX: What type is my Nightmare? There are only two types. 'Commons' and 'Specials'. Commons are the every day Nightmares, nothing special. Your cert will have a 'C' if you are a common. Special nightmares are Guardians, or Nightmares that have something extrodinary or extra special about them. These are only bought through auctions. Your Nightmare will have a 'S' on it's cert if it is Special.
