What are the Requirements?

- That you should sign your artwork so others can't steal it, also I would put a color in the backgroung of your signature so that if someone were to erase your signature you could tell because some color would be missing.

- That you must post artwork that is no larger then 800x800 pixels. If you do not know how to resize your pictures or don't have a way to resize your pictures just pm the captain or vice captain.
- The artwork MUST be your own work and this guild does not accept tracing or copying. Copying is the act of looking at a picture and trying to draw what you see.
Example: User Image
^^(not made by this guild)^^
This image was not traced, (notice how the hair and the fingers are different) but the artist DID look at the original image and redraw whet they saw. This is not allowed, even in the fanart subforum. (How are people supposed to critique your art if it's not something that came from your own head?)
Oh, and don't try to pass a copied picture off as an original drawing. It's easy to tell, and it will give you a bad reputation as an artist.

What Isn't Allowed?
- If your artwork is only getting responses like "Kewl!" and "I love your art!" then it WILL be locked or deleted accordingly. If you don't want this to happen, please ask for critique or advice, and try to be specific if you can. If you are commenting in a thread and you really want to tell the artist that you think their artwork is "Kewl!" then please also explain WHY you think that it is good, so that the artist can use your comment to learn and improve.

- Do NOT title your thread "Critique Me!" or "What do you think?". We want to know what's in it. Is it a WIP? (Work In Progress) Is it something else? If the title tells us what it is, we're more likely to become interested and click it. ^_~
When thinking of a title be creative. It's already understood that you're wanting feedback and critique (plus you'll no doubt mention what you want and what you tried to do in your post), so be creative and maybe post a title for your drawing. Just something, anything, to make your topic unique from everybody else's so that people don't have to think, "hey is that the 'critique my drawing' topic that I looked at earlier, or is it that one?" Make sense?

- ANY threads that are just to show off your art or have it rated eventually WILL be locked or deleted. Those can be put in the "Get Your Art Work Rated" which can be found in the main Gaia forum directory. This guild exists for learning/teaching purposes, so the threads you make should be focussed on things like asking for critique or advice, discussing problems and techniques, etc. Unless you have asked the captain and she has approved.

So what IS Acceptable?
- Posting a Work In Progress to get feedback. Please be sure to mention that you would like help, and maybe which parts you would like advice on specifically. Example:
"This is a WIP ( WIP = Work In Progress ), and I think the lower body looks funny, but I don't know how to fix it, so I would like some advice. Also, what color scheme do you think would look good?"

- Posting artwork that you want to improve on, or posting updates of said artwork. (Any updates and progress scans/screenshots should actually go into your original post.)

Proper Etiquette in this Guild
- If you like an image, then please tell the artist WHY you like it. One word or three word posts are not critique. Example:
Bad thing to say: "That's cool, I rate it a 7." (This is not helpful to the artist. This kind of comment is what the Picture Post forum is there for. :3 ) Good thing to say: "Nice, I rate it an 8, I like the way the background color makes the character stand out. The eyes look a little funny though, I think the left one is too high up. Maybe you could line them up easier if you used guidelines in the future." (This is a good comment, because it tells the artist exactly what they did right, and what they might need to work on. This kind of comment will help them become confident and improve their art, which is what the guild is all about!)

- Do NOT troll an image. (Trolling is any action meant only to bother/provoke/fight with the thread starter or other posters.) That is an automatic ban.

- If someone is being a general... jerk.. then please PM the captain or a vice captain and we'll take care of it. Do NOT provoke them.

- If you are giving a critique, then please explain what it is that you feel is wrong and give suggestions on fixing it. (ie. redlines/draw-overs or examples are always helpful.) This is a redline:
User Image
^^(not made by this guild)^^

- Redline an image or offer your assistance for doing redlines ONLY if you know that you are at an artistic level where you can improves others. If you don't have a good grasp on proportions than you might give the person bad advice and thus not improve their knowledge at all.

Sorry to everyone; I have not been online in months. But now that I am back... there are going to be some changes. You will be hopefully noticing in the next few weeks. Otherwise have fun and please invite other to join :]] And a huge thanks to those who tried to keep the guild going in my absence. Bye. 4laugh
