Cynara looked hastedly at Ares, why was he doing this. Did she not always go with him when he needed her. Did he want tears? Is that what he wanted, oh he was so selfish. "What do you want from me Ares?" she replied spitefully.
Ares growled, "I want nothing from you, wench. Leave me be." he looked to her cursing her in french as he spat, "Parle à mon cul, ma tête est malade!" He did not want her near him, he had not had a good day and she was making it worse. As she took a step toward him he took a threatning step towards her.
Cynara did not back off, she watched him intently. He was not like this as a child. So torn, "Ares let me help you please?" She looked to him, hopefully. She had found him trying to torture a civilian...he was mad. He had his own cuts and scrapes on him and his own crimson blood flowed against his pelt. As he shoved his chest to her to push her back his own blood rubbed off on her ebony coat.

One ear flicked. Zaphiro had been walking along beside the river, thinking about nothing much in particular, when the sound of raised voices caught his attention. Almost immeadiately he stopped, that one ear flicking again and a frown crossing his muzzle. Something didn't sound right...
No, something sounded familiar. Specifically, the less angry of the two voices. Focusing a bit more intently, Zaphiro's frown deepened. "Cynara?"
Glancing about him, Zaphiro checked whether or not the two speakers were anywhere in sight. However, there was no sign of life beyond the river; obviously he had a bit of looking to do. Spreading his wings, he suddenly was up in the air, scanning the surroundings for a sign of the mare.

Ares glared in hatred at the mare, why did he loath her now he did not know. "I don't want your help," he snarled some more hastey curse words that he had picked up in the english language. As she stepped toward again he replied with a sharp 'no' and reared at her this time, crashing his hooves in front of her. She did not ubderstand her own language. He hated her now, he wanted to be alone why couldn't she understand that. He ruffled his wings, did she not know what he could do or what he has done. He spat at her hooves and trotted away from her and she followed calling his name with tears streaming down her face now.

As he wheeled about in the air, moment caught Zaphiro's eye. Following it to the source, the first thing that Zaphiro saw was a white shape; a stallion, from the look of it. But right behind the white stallion...
"Cynara?" Frowning, Zaphiro pulled back his wings and dove downwards. Something about this didn't seem right, and that was all there was to it.

Cynara turned, her eyes in watery pools, that voice...she remembered it from some where it was soothing and calming. As she looked to the navy and golden stallion it was whom she thought it was, Zaphiro. She looked back to Ares and called his name once more. But this time he turned even more enraged than before. He came to her and looked to strike her and he stopped inches before looking to Zaphiro confused but looked back to Cynara in haste inches from her muzzle.

He must have spoken louder than he had intended, because both mare and stallion were suddenly looking his way.
No, scratch that. Cynara was looking at him, but the stallion...
Narrowing his eyes, Zaphiro stepped forward and thrust a wing between mare and stallion, his expression cold as ice. "Is there a problem here?"

Ares watched this stallion come to Cynara's defense. His eyes fit with rage and narrowed at the two. "No problem at all." Ares emphazed all four words by putting a breath in between and saying them with such harshness it made some flinch. He glared at Cynara and the new stallion one last time before he turned back to the direction he was going before Cynara interupted him that last time.
Cynara watched him leave painfully, why had he changed. She blamed Erik partially too but there was so much inside him now that she didn't even think it could be undone. She looked to Zaphiro unknowing what to say. Those golden orbs of his held such coldness in them now she was at a loss for words.

Zaphiro's golden eyes were narrowed, not in fear but in cold defiance as he watched Ares; never once did he flinch even as the younger stallion was all but radiating hostility. Nor did he change his somewhat defensive stance, continuing to eye the stallion until he had completely vacated the area.
Only then did he finally shift, turning to look at Cynara in concern. "Are you alright?"

She nodded as she was choked up a bit, she shifted slightly as she lifted her had to meet Zaphiro's eyes. "Yes, I'll be...fine." she replied. She looked back to where were Ares had gone. "I just don't understand..." she sighed heavily not wanting to show this side of herself to anyone. god she had to be stronger than this couldn't she. But what she had seen him do...her baby brother.

For a moment Zaphiro simply eyed Cynara, patently disbeliving what she was saying. But once that moment was over, he decided not to press it; sometimes, wounds were so painful that it hurt even to touch on them.
Consequently, instead of questioning about the stallion or the scene he'd just intervened in, he gave the mare a reassuring smile. "Sometimes it's hard to find method in the madness of others, Cynara; in those cases, it's best to just take a step back for a moment and try to get our own bearings back. That said, if you feel like talking about it, I'm willing to offer an ear and a shoulder."

As Zaphiro spoke she couldn't help herself, "I've lost my bearings Zaphiro." She pressed her head to his neck and the warmth of water streamed from her cheeks but they tasted of salt a bitter sweet. "God, he was torturing a two legger almost to bloody ribbons. He was never like that..." she felt more horrible than before. One she was worried to death of Ares, two she was falling apart, and third it was in front of Zaphiro. Didn't she just say she wasn't going to do that? Those long curls of his fell over her face, she liked it to for she was hiding herself from him now.

As Cynara started to speak, Zaphiro closed his eyes almost involuntarily, shocked both at what she was describing and what seeing that must have done to her. He wasn't exactly devoted to the two-leggers himself, but felt a keen sense of affection for the one who's teepee he'd made a habit of visiting; he could only imagine what it would feel like to witness something so violent happening to her.
Not wanting to even picture it, he instead focused on the mare, gently stroking her mane with his wing as she let her tears run rampant. Poor girl, a cry had to be good for her now.
After giving her a few moments to regain herself, though, he began to speak again; softly, so that she didn't have to listen, if she didn't want to. "Sometimes, in spite of the best intentions of others, Soquili can go bad. You aren't accountable for the actions of another, Cynara, especially not another adult. What he was doing was horrible, but not your fault!"

She let him stroke her while he spoke, it was soothing and comfert was what she needed right now. When she did regain herself she looked to him with tears still glittering her eyes, "Partially, when he wasn't with that damned unikalona he was with me. Everytime I seen him after he was with her, he became more silent and more cold. I couldn't keep him with me because I had things to do, I wasn't ready to adopt Ares at my age when he was born. But he's like my little brother...Cyrus only treated him like a friend because he said Erik needed to gain responsibilty but he never did. He neglected Ares..." she sighed. "And now he's become...bad as you say."

Shaking his head, Zaphiro looked down at the mare, wondering idly how old she'd been when she'd even CONSIDERED adopting the other stallion. Obviously not too young, or it never would have been considered (or so he himself would asume); either way, her explanation cleared a few things up. But that last bit..
"Unikalonas...from what I've heard, they're both vicious and unbalanced; a deadly combination indeed. I'm sorry about your loss, Cynara, but against that influence from such a young age..." There was really no way to phrase this well, was there? "Sometimes, even family has to part ways."

Cynara watched as a look crossed his eyes at a certain point when she was speaking and it made her smile, "I was around...how do you say, a teenager when he was born. I wasn't to responsible especially for a colt. Ares said that the unikalona saved him so I thought she couldn't be to bad but she had broken him emotionally." She nodded as he gave a description of a unikalona. She shrugged..."There's always hope...right?"
