Im a lvl 13 rdm and want to be a corsair. I dont think rdm was the right job to pick to start leveling with if thats my choice. When I can finally sub what in your opinion would be the better choice to lvl for corsair? Please tell me what you think it would really help. Thx

Your macro should include this line in it somewhere:
/ma "Cure"

The "/ma" tells the macro that the ability to be used is a magic spell. The "Cure" tells the macro what spell it is (it has to be in quotations and match the spell's name exactly). The "" tells the macro that the target of that spell is whoever you have selected. If you're meleeing, this macro won't work because you're going to be targetting the monster.

A tip for you. If you're playing the PC version (unsure if this works on the PS2 or 360 versions), the F1 to F6 keys correspond to your party members position on your party list. F1 will always be you, because you're always listed at the top. F2 will be the next name down from you, F3 below that, and so on and so forth.

or you can macro in
/ma "Cure"

and have seperate macros for
/ma "Cure"
/ma "Cure"
/ma "Cure"
/ma "Cure"
/ma "Cure"

where p0-p5 are the members of your party in the order that they appear on your party list. You are always p0.
This takes up a lot of macro space because you have one macro to cure each individual member of the party, but it is sufficent for the moment.

write exactly what he has typed there, with the spaces and the quotation marks and the other punctuation.

All macros work in similar formats.
Since you are a rdm you might like to use macros like

/ma "Paralyse"
and
/ma "Dia"
while you are targeting the monster you want to cast the spell on.

equally job abilities work in a similar way:

/ja "Provoke"
note that you have changed the /ma (magic) to /ja (job ability) and you can also use /pet (for pet/avatar commands) and /ra (ranged attack) and even /equip (to change what you're wearing)

a useful macro tool is the
/wait
command
e.g. /wait 30 or /wait 5
which allows you to have a macro like:

/ja "Provoke"
/wait 30
/echo Provoke Ready

which tells you that it has been 30 seconds since you last used provoke and therefore it is ready to be used again.
(PS /echo is like a /say or /shout but it is only heard by yourself, and no one else)

forgot to mention, a rather snazzy macro that I use all the time is a very simple one:

/ta

I always have it as Ctrl+0 on every macro pallet smile

Basically all this macro does is to target the claimed mob (the mob whose name is red). This is very useful when partying because it saving you having to click on the mob coming into camp, or having to cycle through all the mobs in the area.
It also makes your /ma "Dia" style-macros hit the right target and not accidently hit the wrong target if you remember to use this marco first.

What level Red mage are you? Because just about every mage is going to want a Dark Staff and Light Staff at Lv 51+, and you can macro the use of equipment too.

Macro for cure spells with a Light Staff:

Line 1: /equip main "Light Staff"
Line 2: /ma "Cure x"

This equips your light staff and then casts cure on the person your targetting, giving you the +10% bonus to healing without manually changing your staff.

And when you want to rest:

Line 1: /equip main "Dark Staff"
Line 2: /heal

This will equip your Dark Staff and make you rest, again without needing to do the manual change. Adding /heal on the second line means that you will automatically rest, even if you're targetting someone.

As an addendum: If the spell you want to macro is a one word spell, you can simply use the auto-translate instead of putting it in quotation marks. Two or more words requires the quotation marks.

For example: (Cure) requires no quotation marks.
"(Cure) II" requires quotation marks.

And if you knew all of this already, I apologise. Red mage is a job dear to my heart ^.^

Okay if you choose to become a corsair I say the best /sub for you would to be either:
Ninja or White Mage

Most perferrably Ninja since corsairs can do some serious damage and is the puller for the party if a ranger or thf is not present /and/ you get the dual weild ability so you can use two knifes that give you Ranged Accuracy +.

Can the corsairs use two guns? Do they even get guns because I am pretty sure I saw and read that they do.

no its not possible to duel wield ranged attack weapons.
Can you imagine duel wielding a bow and arrow lol {extra hands} {can I have it} xD
Its a pretty neat idea tho, SE should impliment it so everyone can duel wield guns like Matrix style - wooo. Plus the smithing shades too of course <3

anyway Corsairs use a type of ranged weapon called a Hexa Gun. In addition they can equip melee weapons, and as Angel_Valentine says if you have /nin subjob you can equip TWO melee weapons. these are equiped for the added stats rather than being used to actually melee since ranged attacks are most effective at a distance from the mob.

Sadly there is no dual weild for ranged weapons. ; ;

The Corsair job is one of those jobs like Bard that shifts from the front and back lines.
