Welcome to Nimlaurë's Sanctuary, a special place just for the gold loving dragon medusa within the human's home with whom she has come to reside. Please do not post without permission, though dropping off gifts is perfectly acceptable. Please see "The Grounds & House in the Grove of Bass'ken Woods" to see what visitors are experiencing. No one intending harm to any of the family (or guests) can get past the shields surrounding the Grove itself, so please take that into account if need be. Of course Kipestshin & Chandra are welcome anytime.

Nimlaurë
(pronounced: "nimm-lou-ray"; Tolkien Elvish for "white gold")
"This lady has a like of gold, particularly white gold. She might seem a bit distant now, or maybe even arrogant... but who knows how much of that is true?"

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The gold and blue dragon medusa Nimlaurë is on the small side where medusae are concerned, making her by size almost easy to overlook. Beyond an initial introduction, Nimlaurë is quite all right with that. She does not mind entering into a conversation or being left behind from it -so long as it is not from an act of rudeness. Nimlaurë tends to like things to be polite & well-mannered, which includes herself.

Nimlaurë likes beautiful & elegant things: objects, mannerisms, & creatures. Of course gold and white gold at the epitome of any list. Another thing she likes is tea, though she looks down on the way her human tends to drink it: with sugar or honey & sometimes cream. She can be haughty, curious, aloof, distant, among others though she always keeps a quiet grace about her.

Except towards Chandre, Trelweny, Keyna she is slow to trust. She has yet to make a full decision on Kipestshin, though she is not likely to say so. Even with Trelweny it is not certain how much Nimlaurë trusts or likes her as much as it was she wanted to have the choice & the human woman arrived at the right time with enough redeeming qualities in Nimlaurë's eyes to be acceptable. However the woman's gift of a sanctuary of her own making in their home certainly raised the human's esteem in Nimlaurë's pale violet eyes.

She is perhaps more inclined to other dragon medusa over other medusa. This could simply be due to the fact that they are what she knows. She also leans to being more tolerant towards others that are beautiful, if only so that she can look upon them from time to time.

Nimlaurë often appears as cold of heart as she is blooded. Like any cold-blooded creature she seeks warmth... though it will likely take a persistent fellow indeed to thaw her heart.

Nimlaurë's Sanctuary

It is more of a 'suite' than a room. The floor is a soft, mottled, green-gray stone. It is smooth and looking like it was shaped either by magic or years of flowing water. It looks rather like a grotto of stone, as the same stone rises up to form walls & half the ceiling. The far wall is floor to vaulted ceiling with large windows that spill onto each of the adjoining walls & the other half of the ceiling filling the room with light. The floor is streaked with veins of gold & white gold. The walls too are almost naturally decorated with the same precious metals though in greater size & sometimes shifting to a more filigree artistic appearance. There are palates & cushions throughout the grotto of a soft, mossy green situated in both places of sun & shade, perfect for lounging. Heat lamps with dainty shades of gold & white gold reminiscent of Tiffany Lamps Hang over each spot of rest, as well as other locations about the room. The light from these catches in an abundance of mirrors, artistically placed throughout the grotto & framed by the flow of gold & white gold to the wall. Although one can stop to check appearance frequently, the mirrors are so well places & blended into the walls that it does not become haughty. Scattered throughout (especially in front of the wall of windows) there are small, practically hidden flower pots & trays. From them Jasmine & Wisteria grow & spread across the stone structure as well as the glass wall, filling the room with their delicate, sweat scent.
There are two 'alcoves' to this main room of the suite. Both continue the mottled green-gray stone with its gold & white gold accents. The first contains a bubbling indoor hot spring bath that is nearly large enough to be a pool. There is enough room for light swimming but no heavy laps. It is deep enough in the center for someone of average height to stand in & still have their head above the water. All around the sides runs a wide shelf, perfect for laying on while being able to keep one's head on the rim of the bath & out of the water. The second contains a large mattress -king size at least- piled with silk & satin sheets, velvet & down blankets & many soft, large pillows. The bed itself is actually a huge heating pad, and warms everything very gently.

User Image I trust her. It seems she had some purpose for dragging all of us on such a long journey. Chandre is quite beautiful in her way. Except for traveling with Aurora I really know little of her. It is not as if I deigned to inquire.

User Image I paid little more attention to my female traveling companion than to learn Aurora likes roses. Which is quite obvious, really.

User Image I know even less about the one called Sho, though we traveled to the shop together.

User Image Jacentus seems a fragile beauty. Still, he is very beautiful to behold. He was with those of us whom traveled to the shop together. He seemed weakest from the journey.
* * * * * * *
Too much drama. I can't really say I understand how he takes things at all. It's not healthy to get so upset. Nor polite to do so in pleasant company.

Though Thomas's company hardly remained pleasant, did it?

User Image Kipestshin is the owner of the shop Chandre took us to. At least she is cultured enough to offer tea, and her manners are not unpleasant. I do wonder if she can see through her eye patch as medusa see through their masks. It is not an attractive accessory.

User Image
Mitsume is a pleasant enough male, polite & kind. He would almost be attractive but for his disfigurement. I did not press how it came to be as it is none of my business. The one-armed medusa seems happy to work at the shop, seeming to play host of a sort. Which is not a bad lot in life.

He was most helpful in telling me of the other medusae that "work" at the shop. A very helpful personality.

User Image
I know I've gotten a glimpse of him when I was here before. Mitsume says Thomas is temperamental. We shall see.
* * * * * * *
He almost seemed... kind when first I met him. A rare jest next. Only after did he show something of a temper. I suppose that was what Mitsune spoke of.

I don't care much for Thomas' use of vulgar language.

User Image
As with Thomas, I have caught glances of the albino Viktor previously around the shop. Now what was it Mitsume said about him? That he was helpful? No bother. I shall learn for myself soon enough, I wager.
* * * * * * *
Viktor's cheerfulness is completely disarming. It's almost unnerving how things just seem to move about him. Like being on a wave, washed along.

User Image
What can I really say about him other than he was freshly clean? Aderlass appears to be polite enough.
* * * * * * *
He was almost chipper in Viktor's company. I must confess my confusion.

User Image
An entertaining female. She can juggle apples. I am surprised I did not see Helena enter the kitchen sooner. Especially considering she is also dragon-medusa like myself. Really, I must have been more worn out from the long journey to the shop than I had suspected. Perhaps I could have done with a longer time recuperating after arriving at Trelweny's. No matter. It is in the past now.
* * * * * * *
For an entertainer, she certainly does not take drama well. She seems a kind soul.

User Image
A very attractive & alluring beauty, Voodoo has an easy way with her manners. She has the most beautiful golden serpent crown & white tresses that surpass Trelweny's in length. As I did Helena, I missed her entering the kitchen for which I feel quite foolish. She did not seem put out by this. I will have to look into the books she suggested at some time, or fear the lethargy set in that she warned of.

User Image
Quiet. I never did get the masked one's name. He stood for Helena's defense, which is admirable. I'm not certain I agree that Jacentus should have been warned in such a way. Can't he see that Jacentus is a wilting beauty?
His mask is very beautiful.
* * * * * * *
It appears he is a sword-weilder of sorts.

User Image
This pretty dragon medusa did not arrive with the rest of us. In part, I am relieved because I would heave flet foolish had she have without my remembering so. From hearing the conversation I gather Aethelinda is well trained, though she seems a little clumsy. I cannot help but think of Chandre when I see her. I wonder why that would be?

User Image A creature in a pool or tank in a room I had never been inside before. The pink one at least attempted to have tea. I know very little about them. I did get that her name was Mire.

Trelweny's House in Bass'ken Woods: Some light flickers through needles of the conifer trees & the branches of the deciduous trees of the woods. There is a fairly clear path though the woods, a little wider than a large draft horse. Some old wagon ruts lightly mark the edges.

Deep in the woods a clearing opens up to reveal a quaint little cottage, perhaps one and a half stories high. It looks only large enough to have 4-5 rooms inside. Smoke curls welcomingly out of the chimney bringing with it a soft, comfortable warm smell.

The cottage itself is surrounded by a lush rose garden, beautifully blooming no matter the season. Amid the roses there were Amaryllis, Morning Glories, Moon Flowers, Midnight Candy Phlox, Strawberries, Raspberries, and something that looked to be mangos. Around the corner of the house to the right there is a vegetable garden with asparagus & broccoli & spinach & sweet potatoes. All grow with health despite the weather. To the other side there was a strange, metallic looking shed beyond the garden with no windows & an odd door.

  • Main Room: The front door opens onto a communal greatroom. The room is fairly large, with a vaulted ceiling overhead. In the corner to the right of the door a television is usually on -playing either musicals or children's shows. Going to the right wall is the fireplace with a cozy fire burning brightly behind a very secure grate. Above the fireplace hangs a portrait of a human woman, the young boy, & a man who was broad of shoulders & kind of face with a mischievous crooked smile to match the child's. The name "Relm Arrowny 2006" is scrolled in the lower right hand corner.

    Across the room are two entrances, one to a short hallway; the other into what looks like a kitchen. There are often smells of a home cooked meal coming from inside.

    The left wall has but one door, which looks like it leads out to the gardens. In the floor to ceiling window to the left of the front door is a beta tank with four fish inside hung suspended four feet from the floor. There are a couple sofas as well as a dozen pillows & beanbags & cushions scattered upon the floor.

    There is a hammock about halfway up the height of the room, with another one located higher up if one cared to look.
  • Kitchen: The kitchen is fairly homey. The cabinets are wood with a simple trim painted white. The floor tiles are a soft tan with some green tones designed to resemble stones. The counter is a slightly darker version of the floor tiling, except without the square breaks -being one continuous surface. A table stands in the middle of the room that perhaps could hold 4-6 humans comfortably, but like the rest of the house is subject to change to meet the needs of those within the room.
  • Trelweny's Room: A soft moss-colored carpet covers the floor. In the middle of the room is a large fourposter, dark wood bed, covered with soft cream colored down blankets & almost too many pillows. The wall's are light & breezy, as is the cloud sky mural on the ceiling which is broken up by large dark wood beams & rafters. A fireplace is on the west wall. There are large windows with soft curtains on the north and east walls.
  • Remus' Shed: odd, metallic shed on the left of the cottage -just beyond the gardens. On all nights but those with a full moon the door is not locked or bolted though it kept shut. The large locks clearly visible against the otherwise unadorned & unwindowed exterior.
  • Equine Shed: Behind the house a small barn stands, brown & grey -weathered but in good condition. Flicking a switch in the wall a door on the barn opens.

    The interior is warm & glows warmly with circular lamps that are usually set to a low output level. Although there are a few more stalls, only two have a name about the door: Timex, and one with paint much more fresh, Eiraceyrn.

Rooms Inside Magic Door:
  • Remus' Library: The door opens onto a huge classic library that could not possibly fit into what could be seen from the front of the house. The walls are floor to ceiling with books of every sort lining them except for long, thin floor to raised ceiling windows evenly spaced throughout. The windows look thin more from their height then their width, which is enough for an average human to sit in the window seat below each with their legs pulled up to rest a book on their knees while they took on a view of the ever-blooming gardens outside. A small cozy fire flickers in a grated fireplace in front of a loveseat & a pair of large wingback armchairs, all in soft but elegant leather. Each chair is just large enough for two humans to curl into while the loveseat could easily fit up to four.
  • Rikku's Machina Workshop: Her workshop is clean but slightly cluttered. Pieces of machina in various stages of disrepair clutter every possible nook & cranny. There is a smooth, cleared spot on the silver metal workbench in front of a high stool that is clearly the Al Bhed's work area. A small closet with its door left open reveals Rikku's kimono & cowgirl outfit, as well as something fluttery & thin but not quite transparent in the same sunset hues as her scarf. A white metal birdcage stands in the corner. It showed up easily against the softly glowing blue walls reminiscent of the inside of the Celsius. Like Relm's studio there are large windows & a skylight for light, but instead of wooden blinds Rikku's workshop has a substance that was somewhat shiny -like metal or plastic. Each window has a button to mechanically draw the shades up & down. They can even be tilted to let in light in angles when shut.

    There is a bed haphazardly made with a sunset comforter positioned in front of the largest picture window.
  • Relm Arrowny's Art Studio: White walls cut from floor to ceiling with large picture windows let in every angle of sunlight from a beautiful view of the side gardens. There is even a skylight in the ceiling. Each window has a natural wooden blind hung at the top to permit the lighting to be changed at a whim. even the skylight has a blind that can be shut by a cord dangling low enough for the 5 foot Relm to reach. The ceiling is dotted with pot lights & lights run across the seem where floor meets ceiling as well. Easels, canvases & paints are set up all around the room. To the right of the door is a tidy collection of supplies in a tall shelf with a stack of what appeared to be finished paintings leaning against it. Most of the paintings on the easels bare pictures of audios in costumes, but some hold familiar hummingbird colors upon them. To the left of the door is a comfortable yet simple futon couch-bed. The coverlet is in Relm's colors with a mix of Arabic & Celtic designs. Over the bed hangs a large painting running the length of the bed & nearly to the ceiling. It is of such detail & clarity that one could almost swear they could put out a hand & step right through it. If it was any larger the audio beneath the sweeping boughs of the tree would be of a size with the original... as it was it gives the impression that the viewer was not quite close enough yet.
  • The Weasley Twins' Spell Workshop/Laboratory:
  • Ginny Weasley's Bedroom:
  • Fidelity & Mirage's Room:
  • Nimlaurë's Sanctuary: It is more of a 'suite' than a room.

About the magic door:
  • Created by Fred & George Weasley (talaye) & Remus J. Lupin (kitsusagi) with help from Myranda (GaiaCom Witch)
  • A combination of Hogwart's "Room of Requirement", the door from "Howl's Moving Castle" and the properties of both house and door of the good witch Morwen's cottage in "the Enchanted Forest Chronicles"
  • Has the ability to open onto any room that an intelligent creature can think up
  • Multiple rooms can be used by multiple beings at the same time
  • Once a room is created it is extremely difficult to destroy or delete it completely
  • All rooms (and the door itself) have the ability to "stretch" to fit any entrants. Of course, all rooms and doors in the cottage have been be-spelled to work similarly since the creation of the door & it's obvious success
  • To get into a particular room, the one opening the door must think of that room. This can be as simple as "I want to go to my room" to imagining a mental image of the interior of the room in one's mind's eye
  • When looking for someone, it is possible to open the door almost randomly. The door will automatically take the seeker to the first room occupied of those currently occupied. Usually Remus' Library.

The human Trelweny is the one I was fortunate enough to be able to choose for myself. Only time will tell if this was in fact a good decision. Her manners seem to be well ingrained though there is something certainly that has affected her causing a disrupted flow. She is well groomed however, and the notion that she braids & sets her own beautiful honey-gold tresses holds much appeal to me.

She can be quite irregular, however -switching from proper to overly friendly to something quite akin to shyness without much obvious reason why. Trelweny is clearly kind & of a good heart, however her swings take her. I have no reason to regret my choice. That she has already seen to it that I have my own Sanctuary in her home speaks volumes of her thoughtfulness.

User Image
The little peacock beauty is a delight to gaze upon. She may not be gold, but they kyunru Keyna has a natural beauty & grace all her own. She rarely speaks, though I gather from their action that Keyna & Trelweny share some sort of mental bond.

Keyna is also quite polite & sweet. I enjoy her quiet company, for she does not require nor impose upon me a need to converse.

User Image
I believe the little Amaryllis is what is called a Cait Eibhilin. She is amazingly well-mannered for one so young. Her specialty seems to be gardening, which she does remarkably well. I've yet to learn how it is she gets the plants to grow & bloom & fruit through the cold season but I suppose that really does not matter. She offered to plant some jasmine & wisteria in my sanctuary for me. I do believe I shall take her up on that.

User Image
Myranda is rather... sharp. I suppose one could expect that from a man made creation. She has a mind of her own for all that is worth though I have no idea how that is possible. She does have her uses and does seem to be helpful. In her fashion.

User Image
A regular gentleman, though his manner of speech is quite odd. The audio rhetoric fae Aiden was quite kind to me dispensing fair advice to make getting accustomed to my new life here more easy.

User Image
AearHwesta is polite enough despite his accent that comes through even with the translators in our home. Although I don't care for his advances I find him quite a stalwart individual. He is helpful enough, though I am very surprised he had the strength to fly me from our home to the shop. Perhaps because I am on the small side for a medusa & tried to give what little lift assistance I could with my own wings was he able to make it -though I could see that behind his outward joviality the angelic kitsusagi was exhausted. I will not be asking such a thing of him again most likely.

User Image Like AearHwesta, Ginny is a kitsusagi. She is not an angelic of that species as he is and does not share his philandering ways. It seems her heart is set on a certain someone, of whom I did not pry though through the frequent mention of his name I could not help but put two and two together. Her smile makes her quite radiant, and with all that lovely red hair it is a wonder to me that her friend has not made a play at her before now.

She cooks, simply but well. Her use of a magic wand is quite remarkable really. Though it would suit her to wear something other than those robes. Not the most attractive garments.

I dare say she would look lovely in something with gold trim. It would highlight her tresses wonderfully.

User Image hmmm....
She seems to want a home. Calls herself Kaileilani. We'll see what Trelweny says.

Nimlaurë: Tell me again why she's going in here?

eh... because Kai is too simple to have her own place?

*frowns* It's not a good reason, but it's a reason.

Kipestshin

"Teach HER to mess with ME. Thinking i can't do my job right.... oh this will show her." Thomas glared as moved another mermaid to a secret room. "Kip is going to love this.." His grin was a bit evil. He normally wasn't such an a**...

Kaileilani
User Image
Her name roughly translates to "heavenly sea flower" in Hawaiian.

Kaileilani is usually of a carefree & cheerful disposition, happy to be left swimming in the large tank provided for her (in her own room, despite apparent connection to Nimlaurë's Sanctuary). She does however get quite sad & despondent if not visited at least once a day -something she can tell from the windows in her room.

Being rather simple, Nimlaurë & Trelweny put their heads together for the mermaid's residence. As such it has both an elegance & homey-ness about it as well as a certain Hawaiian flair.

Medusa and their art are (c) Kipestshin
Trelweny & Theron art are (c) Paperghost
Banners, buttons, etc were compiled by me, Trelweny.
All other pet arts are (c) their creators. Please forgive me, but there are far too many to name each one. If you are curious about any of them, feel free to PM me & I will provide you with information & a link if the shop is still reachable.

All characters/personalities are (c) their roleplayers, except in the case of CosPlays in which they are (c) of the original creators with possible unavoidable changes from roleplay.

Please do not take any images herein & use/claim them as your own. Thanks!

If you like the button I made for your medusa (or other pet) you are welcome to use it as long as you don't claim to have made it yourself. Not that they were hard to make... it's the prinicple of the thing. I do suggest that you save it & host the image(s) yourself, that way if for some reason I move my pictures around the links won't break.
