Hanabi Hyuuga (Hyūga Hanabi) is the second daughter of Hiashi Hyuuga, and thus Hinata's younger sister. Hanabi means "fireworks".
When Hiashi discusses Hinata with Kurenai, he disdainfully refers to Hinata as "even weaker than Hanabi, five years her junior," which implies that Hanabi showed more talent at that point. Hanabi seems very obedient and quiet, at least in the presence of her father. The story has neglected to offer any focus on her progress since then. She has yet to make an appearance in Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles.

phoenixblood We also don't see much of her personality, but I imagine she's determined, blunt (maybe I'm just making that one up because I like that quality), tough, competitive, and probably more calculating than empathic. Now after the "cute" comment from Neji to Hinata, I hoped that Kishi wasn't going to go that route as cousin relationships happen in anime/manga a good bit (although I agree with what I recently read from someone that Neji and Hinata relate socially more as estranged siblings than cousins...although there hasn't been any more for it since) because to me their interactions would just be blah. Neji softening up to the gentle, harmonious Hinata, eh. (personal taste - I like both their characters, just see no appeal in their interactions in terms of a pairing) Now, with his gruff not liking authority demeanor paired up with someone who I think wouldn't take any crap and even boss him around a bit - now that would be fun and interesting to see play out.
Dogmeat Hanabi usually comes in these kinds.
Hanabi-A: The younger sister who cares about her older sister sometime to the point of obsession. Usually held a grudge against their Branch cousin who had hurt her precious sister during the chuunin exam.
Hanabi-B: The girl who’s insecure about her own position cause she fears that she would get a curse mark on her forehead. Works vigilantly to make sure such thing don’t happen. Despise her older sister because she’s the heir and tries to undermine her. Or ignores her because she poses no threat, instead focus on undermining the genius of the branch house. She’s pretty much plays the villain here.
Hanabi-C: A child. Typical normal kind of child, who’s unaware of all the serious stuff occurring around her and goes out with other children to play, and have no plot significant at all. In other word, remain as bland as before.
Hanabi-D: The girl who became enamored of the Hyuuga branch house genius after the final exam.
For Neji/Hanabi to work in the Naruto-verse, Hanabi-B is out. I can’t see it happen unless it’s AU. Hanabi-C is out for the sole fact that there will be no character developments involve, at all.
So only Hanabi-A and Hanabi-D are left. And out of these two I prefer Hanabi-A. It may be that this is the Hanabi that’s been used most frequently, so it sort of grow on me as the unofficial true Hanabi. And this is the Hanabi I like to see paired up with Neji.
Personality wise, I see her almost like a balance between Neji and Hinata. A tough young lady that has enough smarts, confidence and talents to act just like Neji when necessary, but prefer to remain quiet in the shadow like Hinata unless she’s been provoked. In other words she’s a lioness. The only girls with similar temperament that I see are Kin, Tayuya and Temari. (Just so you know I like Neji/Kin… crack I know, but think of the hair! The hair of their offspring would be the most beautiful thing ever! Good thing Hinata & Hanabi grows their hair long… ) Two of them are enemies (and dead), and I don’t believe there’s been any interaction between Neji and Temari. The way for those three to work would require lots of imagination on the fan’s part.
...Neji and Hanabi at least have some bases to work on. My interpretation is that Hanabi sees Neji as a rival, she who represents the talent of the main house versus the prodigy of the lesser branch house. To her, she probably believes that the honor of the main house (and her own) rests on her shoulder and she vows to come up on top. To make things more interesting, there’s her father, who start training Neji when he used to focus on her, the fact that Neji hurts Hinata, and maybe even the curse mark plot may be threw into the mix.
Voilà! Suddenly the little girl who only had like a total of two minutes screen time has now gained considerable amount potential development following this route and the pairing hasn’t even starts.
Mikoto she is the anti-hinata. she doesnt succumb to the same pitfalls of low self esteem because she's already seen her older sister fail to meet their dear old dad's expectations.
she has prep time.
pb it started back during the Chuunin exam tournament. Although I'm not sure exactly what made me think of it, I guess it was probably something along the lines of me thinking Hanabi would be both impressed and jealous of Neji.
kubik What Hanabi DataBook 1 profile told kubik: It just says that she is more talented then Hinata and has a chance in taking over Hyuuga after Hiashi's death. Nothing I didn't saw already
Mikoto well if she takes over, neji will be #2 maybe they wont explicitly shack up but they might end up together anyway

Though, I still can't see NejixHanabi. Hanabi doesn't seem like the type to fall for geniuses (in the way I portray her); actually, I see her with someone more like...Inari. (Pro InarixHanabi...O.o Don't know how they would meet, though) Someone who would show her things outside the Clan and proper etiquette. Like protecting your loved ones.

Second favorite Neji couple.xD They look adorable together.xD Why isn't there all that much fanfiction between these two? gonk It makes me sad..The few fanarts of these couple are both beautiful and cute.xD NejiHanabi rules.xD

NejiHina will forever have a place in my heart as 'the bomb', but NejiHana would be funny and cute. xD I always imagine Hanabi, due to fanfiction, as kinda the smirking girl with a snort who teases Neji.
In NejiHina, she's always poking fun at him for his feelings for Hinata. :3 In a fanfic of mine, she stepped on his foot because he was being greedy. xD

I'm glad you guys like it and that at least some people besides me on this guild likes NejiHana. heart
I have been meaning to write a fanfic for them.. but I haven't figured out how exactly it'll run.. I have an idea to make something related to thunder and lightning(no, those are not characters, your not missing out). What I mean by that is, when I was around four, I had a fear of the thunder/lightning and at night I'd sneak into my mom's room to sleep in her bed. I was tempted to fix that into a NejiHana sort of thing..
I'm not exactly a fan of NejiHina, it always had way too much of an overly.. incest reputation. For NejiHana, I see more of a family love, but that's only because they're related(I have problems with incest) and Hanabi's really much younger than Neji. But in fanart I've found, it drew me in to the NejiHana couple and an obsession with Hanabi and Neji as individuals(even though I was already obsessed with Neji <3).
And thank you, DarkFiresong, I drew the picture, glad you like. ^-^ And InarixHanabi does sound kinda cute too, maybe Hanabi would go on a mission to the water country? Just a thought.
I always saw NejiHana as more of a family love cuteness~ Like a close friend/family member, I guess.
