I have a question (before I run off to bed).
Okay so I have a few questions. razz I feel stupid asking these, because I'm a born/bred LDS girl, but ... I've heard different things from people outside, and inside the church.
(1) Did Joseph Smith have one wife? Or did he have more? I thought he only married Emma. If he only married Emma then where do antimormons get the idea he had more? Or are they just mixing up Brigham Young and Joseph Smith?
(2) Have temple ceremonies changed in any significant way? I've heard some really weird things that made me double take about temple ceremonies ... but I'm afraid to ask my parents (they get angry when I read nonmormon literature that talks about Mormonism).
and
(3) Why is the church doing stuff with the malls in downtown salt lake? It doesn't make sense to me.
And now you all will think I'm an idiot. XP

*well the joseph smith question just emma. people think just because mormans practiced paligamy then the leader would. no they weren't mixing up brigam young and joseph smith. *second i am not sure about the temple ceremonies as far as i know they have stayed the same. haven't changed much. *lastly i haven't heard of the thing in salt lake so i don't really know. hope i helped a little. oh and as for the parent thing whenever my parents see me reading things like that either. they freak out whenever i ask questions like why do we have to do some of the thngs the prophet says? i don't really understand either. oh this is something funny my non-morman friend asked me. "IS IT TRUE THAT YOU MORMANS WORSHIP SEAGULLS?"

It was my understanding that Joseph Smith did enter into a polygamous reltionship with a few other women. But hey, what do I know?
The Church is worried about the general appearance of Salt Lake City and in an attempt to make downtown a more family friendly atmosphere has bought the malls. I think.

yeah, Joseph Smith did have more than one wife. You can even look it up on Familysearch.org which is our Church's own Geneology web site.
Second. I spoke with someone who use to do temple endowments so I am almost positive on this. The endowment it's self didn't change. It was the initiatory. I am not sure what, and I don't think I should know anyway, but yeah.
Thirdly, yeah I think they bought them or whatnot but as far as I know it didn't change much. I live close-ish to there and shop there often enough.
Last of all, you aren't an idiot for asking questions. I was raised in the church but I have questions all the time as well.

When things are changed in the Temple it is nothing that has to do with our salvation. Changes are made becasue we are a living breathing Orginization. God gives the Prophet what we need to know, and he makes the needed changes. Sometimes we become ready to learn further light and knowledge, hence we then recive change.

I don't know if he accually had more than one wife, but he was sealed to several more women (including my great-great-great-great aunt Mary Elizabeth Rollins; she was also one of the girls who saved the pages of the D&C from the mob when they went to destroy the printing press. sry, thought I'd add in that little detail about my family history)
i don't know about anything else. If you're too afraid to talk to your parents, maybe you should ask your YW's leader, or bishop, or someone like that.

1. Joseph was never called to have more than one wife and only those who did had to carry that burden.
2. no, the things in the Temple have nevered changed, even the dedicatory prayer is the same. The Lords house is a house of order, in fact the way things are done are so detailed and precise that its insane (not really just a phraise). For example, Only the cealer may enter the records into the computer and no one else. One time the temple was really busy and he did a special cealing for a cupple (it was their grand parents) and he set it aside, well he wanted to have it entered in while the cupple was there so he set it aside, well time was getting tight, and a man offered to go and enter it in the comp. The cealer respectfully declined and told the man it was his duty and no one else is alowed to, so he promptly left and entered the information into the comp. everything, and i mean everything in the temple has a spacific order that is unchangable.
3. sorry but i cant answer that question, i live else where.
as a side note, i would recomend you stopped reading that stuff, it brings no truth, no light, it is only ment to deseave. how sad a day when men try to distroy anothers faith.
