I realize it will never happen but they spin-off I always hoped for was about a character that really does not get the credit he deserves... Red XII or Nanaki, if you will. Everyone knows of the scene where Red is seen running with two cubs of his own species and they look over Midgar which after 500 years has proven that despite some actions of man the Earth is strong and can recover. emo (sorry but that's beautiful to me) Hojo says that Red is the last of his kind, but his grandfather reveals that there may be another tribe somewhere. That, I feel, would be a story worth telling. Red's search for his own kind. Not to mention that this carrot spans for 500 years. Can you imagine how many great event and adventures Red could have experienced between then? I realize that it would probably never happen. Despite what an amazingly deep character he was in the game; poor Red really seems to be looked at as an accessory character now. crying But, it is still nice to dream... anyone share this dream?

Yeah I agree. The FF7 storyline leaves sucha BIG gap even with all those games and advent children. it still won't explain what happened during the rest of those 500 years. Before Crisis on the Cell phone takes place Before 7 (being you're running around as a Turk.) Crisis Core is also before 7 explaining the story behind Zack and a little about Sephiroth. FF7 takes up most of the actual story. Advent Children is 2 years after 7. (explains why Vincent wasn't around so much in Advent Children.) My GUESS is that MAYBE (key-word Maybe) DoC was during or before Advent Children. it may help explain why vincent Cait Sith and Yuffie weren't around for almost 80% of the movie. The DoC Sequel (now downloadable for Cingular or Verizon Phones, not sure which one.) is Directly after the first DoC (which basically blows my guess to pieces burning_eyes ) so basically there's about 48-somethin years that are left to the imagination. well except the fact that Nanaki is the only person alive. What happened to Cloud and the Gang (well I know they'd be dead by now but what about during the duration of their lives what happened? you SURLY don't expect us to belive that the world had that much time of peace? C'Mon Squaresoft! you should know us better! that would NEVER happen!) and if nanaki was the Last of his Kind (as said by Hojo) and Bugenhagen said there were a few left. what happened? did both tribes join up? did Sephiroth come back a bajillion times during those 48-somethin years?
scream I WANNA KNOW! eek xp sorry that was a long rant! sweatdrop sorry.

No don't apologize!! I was happy to read that commentary! Both actually... I'm glad that at least ::read poll results:: 4 other people think Red XIII deserves to have his story told.

yeah I'm one of them. I feel that Nanaki has a more mysterious story behind him than Vincent. he's my 4th strongest character in my FF7 group. (he died against Ruby Weapon so he didn't level up....)

I want to see if Nanaki and Django (from Ehergiez: God Bless the Ring) are related in anyway.

I agree with you. He didn't even have much dialogue in the movie. The thing about Advent Children that dissapointed me was the fact that there were so many characters that not all got the dialogue they diserved. I wish for the same thing. I really like RedXIII too! I didn't realize all that information about him, but he is sure a character worth emphasizing. I'm so dissapointed in Square-Enix for that. But I also know what kind of constraints they had on making a movie. Hopefully they will release something (a game, a book or short film) about him and the other characters in the future! Long live Final Fantasy VII!!!

You're not the only one upset that only bishie characters and their love interests were really emaphized in AC. Heaven forbid the characters they focus on not be desired sexually by fourteen year olds.

I concur...only the characters with massive legions of fangirls got much attention. In my opinion, Cloud is one of the weaker protagonists of the series...Vincent was a cool character, but Square took the opportunity they had to flesh out a great story in a great game for him...and flushed it down the tubes. ><

Dude, that is so true! I was really looking forward to a good game with Vincent as the main character but man was I disappointed! Horrible storyline and gameplay! I regret buying it......
So far, the only character that hasn't received any special recognition is Nanaki. neutral Go figure. Barret has his own case it seems like....Cait Sith/Reeve, Vincent, and somewhat Yuffie and Cid have specific mentions in DoC. And we all know that Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris got the spotlight. (Sephiroth too...and now Zack is going to have his own game....) Only Nanaki is left out. The only thing significant about him is the ending of the game......500 years later. Any expansion on that? No...apparently Nanaki isn't so important compared to everyone else.....even Cait Sith who I deem the most insignificant character in the game.

as large a fanbase as Final Fantasy has, you'd think they would be capitalizing on all opportunities available, including Nanaki's story. This definitely deserves some serious attention. long live Nanaki!
