I'd like to have your attention for a minute, for a toast.

A toast to the life of Barbaro, who was put down this morning. Yesterday he suffered another injury and it was decided to not make him go through any more. Here's to him.

Yes, this thread seems a bit silly, but.... 'till the end he was nothing but energetic. I'm just really sad to have had him go. At least he isn't in any more pain.

stare The horse. He actually had a chance at winning the tri-cup. The tri-cup is a three race event; constituting of the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Rose Bowl. There have only been a handfull of horses that have been able to accomplish it, and for this to have happened; it's devistating. He had a really, really good shot at doing it. Anyways, he shattered his leg during the Preakness. He was doing good, but on Monday laminitus set in. It makes the horse shift all of its weight over to the other leg on the same lateral side. With him, he would have to shift all of his weight over onto his hind right leg so that his hind left could get some relief from the disease. But in turn, that will give his hind right leg laminitus as well. In the end it was better for this to happen I suppose, but still, it's really sad.
