Barazahi wasn't far from her "campsite" on this morning. It was just last night that her mother, Embamba, had caught her sneaking back. Good thing too, or else Raza wouldn't have seen the foolishness in her ways! She had been playing around with darkness, Ha!! what had she been thinking? The idea sent shivers down her spine.
She shook her head and bent down to get a drink. The water was cool and refreshing on her tongue... She loved how smoothly it glittered in the new sunlight.

On the horizon, a storm brewed. Sukari was skulking angrily across the land, a scowl on her face and fresh blood on her claws. She had just finished a meal, and taken the time to lick the blood off her muzzle. She had smelled water from a long ways off, and desperately wanted some. After a fresh night of sleep, Sukari felt she had the energy to keep moving north, and the fury to break anything in her path.

Barazahi perked up when she heard the sound of someone approaching. She hoped it would be Chuguu, their Msaka, but was saddened when she saw a brownish figure heading towards her. Still, she had to be polite. She sat and waited patiently for the other lioness to approach, or maybe to start a conversation.

Sukari went to the water hole and started to drink, pretending not even to notice the clearly obvious lionness nearby. She didn't matter, she looked like a priss anyway. No scars or muscle mass... Why should Sukari even bother? Other than to harass her, anyway.
After a number of laps, she noticed that this other lioness had been staring at her, seemingly sizing her up. Sukari finally adressed the other lion. "What are you looking at?" Sukari spat angrily, almost hissing as she said it.

So... ugly! Raza thought to herself after looking the lioness over. It looked mangy almost, and had an ugly scar on it! It was so hideous!!! How could Barazahi even talk to something like that!?
Be polite... Like mom said, Raza told herself. But this was a rogue! The previous night's conversation popped immediately into her head. The darkness... It was obvious in this rogue.
"Nothing," Raza said, looking away immediately. "My name's Barazahi, Raza for short, I'm from Mteo'Nyungu. Who're you?" Raza asked, hoping the other lioness would lighten up.

The corners of Sukari's mouth drew back, showing a slight bit of her teeth. "Why should I tell you?" Sukari demanded. She wasn't about to tell a complete stranger, let alone a weak one, her name! What a fool.
"What are you doing here." Sukari asked shortly, expecting the other lioness to answer truthfully. It was Sukari's right to know, she was the stronger of the two.

"You don't have to be so rude," Raza said. She didn't feel like backing down quite yet.
What she didn't like about this situation was that this seemed like a dangerous lioness, but if she called for help, her mother would think she snuck out again, destroying the trust. Raza had had no intention of sneaking out!
The other end was if she just left, she'd be leading a potentially dangerous lioness to her family... She didn't want that either. It was a lose-lose situation, and she picked to stay. To the female's question, she responded, "I'm just getting a drink..."

"Well, stop it. Priss..." Sukari spat from the other side of the water hole. This other lionness was clearly a priss. She had little muscle mass on her, and didn't look like she could stand to have one hair out of place.
"How many animals have you killed?" Sukari demanded, ignoring the adolescent's moody response. She wanted to know exactly how dead-on she was with her guessing. "And where is your family? Or were you too good for them?" Sukari spat.

Now Barazahi was feeling unsure and uncomfortable. This creature of darkness was asking her things that she shouldn't tell... Bad things were going to happen. She had to get out of here, fast. Besides, she couldn't stand being around this ugly lioness any more.
"Look, I've got to go," Raza said uneasily, turning to leave. She could feel some of her bangs sticking up, but she wouldn't have time to fix it. She just focused on leaving.

Sukari lept to block Barazahi's way, and landed in front of her. "Oh, no you don't. Not without answering my questions." Sukari said angrily, crouching down lower.
"Answer or prepare to fight." She commanded the blue lioness, happy to see the unease she had caused. Her crooked grin spread quickly across her face.

Now what do I do? Barazahi thought desperately to herself. She'd only ever gotten things such as mice, the biggest a rabbit as far as kills go. She had to tell Sukari what she wanted, or else have her beauty marred by a stupid cut.
"My family's somewhere close by," Raza said, hoping that this would satiate the lioness. "And I've only killed rodents." She finished, then dashed off before the lioness would have anything to say.
Raza would tell nobody of this incedent, for fear of it reaching her father's ears.

Sukari was left to ponder the information she had demanded, for as she devised a plan to enslave this lioness, the blue mass got away. She watched as the female moved swiftly through the brush, and out of sight.
Out of sight and out of mind.
