How long is school in japan? I heard that it was longer than school in the US. O_o

Well...the vacations are shorter, and there's a half-day on Saturday. Or at least there was when my mom was a kid, I don't know so much about now.

Yeah, I have always wondered how long it is.... I know it starts at April ( i saw it somewhere... I forgot sweatdrop ) but really don't get the way the school year is divided...

They start in April, take July and August off, come back in September, and have about two weeks off around Christmas/New Years, and continue until they hit our Spring Break. with many national holidays in between.

I don't think they're out until into July a bit, because when I was there during the summer, my cousins weren't out until around the middle of July.

And they do have Saturday's off now. At least where my Japanese friend lives.

i thought they went to school year round with 2 weeks for break between the years.

Plus, with their rigorus study habits, it's no surprise. However, I think I'd go insane if I had to go to school for that much time. @.@

i kind of envy them... i dont particularly like school, but its better than staying home. at least for me it is. home = be lonely and get fat. school = be with friends and get fat. anyone with nazi parents/gaurdians could tell you that.

I'd love t go to school in japan, cuz their holidays are spread out, so it relieves pressure all year round.........i like it mrgreen

normally, school starts at about april 9th, or the second monday.. i think.
and the first trimester ends at normally july 23 in everyschool., in august, students has to go to a study session for about 5 days. And then it starts at august 31st. the second trimester ends at december 23rd for every public school in japan, and it starts again at january 8th. Then the third trimester would be ending at march 28th or something. I know this because...im japanese.
