I'm not certain if a thread like this has already been posted, or if this post needs to be moved elsewhere, but I found this page while cruising around looking for material for sig piccies (which I'm still working on, for anyone interested). http://www.upforanything.net/archives/000321.htmlAmazing.

Yeah, if I were pregnant and I saw that in my ultrasound, it would definitely pull on my heart strings. I wouldn't be considering an abortion at 26 weeks anyway, but still.
It's kind of strange for me, seeing this image. I was born at 27 weeks.

Scribblemouse Yeah, if I were pregnant and I saw that in my ultrasound, it would definitely pull on my heart strings. This goes so far beyond just tugging at the heartstrings and appealing to one's sentimentality, though. For all those who are vehemetly pro-choice on the grounds that this dehumanized "thing" is some sort of non-person empty vessel which derives all of its human mannerisms like an emotional parasite and doing nothing more than copying the mother...this is earth-shattering.

Not sure about the smile though. It doesn't look like much of a smile to me. Looks more passive. Pity they can't get clearer images.

What? I know what a baby smiling looks like, I just didn't think the one in the picture looked all that smiley. Just looks more passive to me. But hey, I have a disadvantage interpreting facial expressions most of the time.

Cute pic, I don't know how it will affect the debate though as abortions tend not to happen at such a late stage, any woman seeing that would have already wanted the child generally?

Well...some women fence so long that they get to that point without aborting because they're not sure. It might convince them.
I do think this'll affect the debate because humans are emotionally driven. I don't think it should affect the debate.
Basically, I think, if you are pro-choice, either it is because you think that a fetus doesn't become a person until late in the pregnancy or because you think a woman's bodily integrity is more important even if that fetus is a person.
If you're prochoice because you decide personhood starts at a certain point, well...it doesn't make much sense since personhood is subjective, and basically, if it turns out that a fetus is a person, you've condoned millions of deaths of innocent people for no real reason. If it's because of bodily integrity though, this picture wouldn't matter, because no matter how human that fetus is (100%), it's invading a woman's body and she should be able to kill it.
