My grandma and mom always make chicken curry rice and I kind of know what goes in it but not how much...um...basically you follow these directions:

http://www.garden-gifts.com/curry.htm

Only, instead of the peas they'd use carrots.

I think that's how it is anyway...sorry if I'm too vague. :/

I have one that's really flexible with what you can put in.

Ingredients:
water
Japanese Noodles
Sesame oil
Soy sauce
Shiro Miso
6 oz. meat
a cup or two of vegetables

Procedure:
Before starting the soup: If you are adding meat and it is uncooked, cook it until it is at least mostly done before starting the rest of the soup. Otherwise your noodles and vegetables will cook far too long.
1. Put about 4 cups of water into a pot and put on the stove. You may turn the heat on to medium-high to high heat.
2. Drizzle about 1-2 tablespoons of sesame oil and soy sauce into the water. If you didn't turn on the heat yet, you must now.
3. When the water mixture starts to simmer put about a tablespoon of miso into a very small bowel and add some of the water from the pot to it to dilute, then add the miso to the pot. Do this 1-2 more times to get the flavour you want.
4. Once the water starts to boil add the noodles. These can be any kind of Japanese noodles: udon, soumen, soba...
5. After about a minute, add vegetables if they are frozen. If they are fresh, the cooked meat goes first.
The vegetable and meat may be anything you like. Fish meat, chicken, beef, turkey, carrots, spinach, peas, etc.
6. Cook until noodles are tender.
