Hey, I'm cosplaying as L from Death Note for AX 2007... But I can't seem to get the eye make-up quite right... any tips? And dose anyone have any suggestions for getting a barefoot look without actually going barefoot? Seeing as that is one of L's main signatures I'd like to be barefoot, but as there will be gundums and other heavy footwear type cosplaying going on I would prefer to have at least a little protection for my poor feet. Not to mention the fact that we will be walking to the convention from our hotel (as is our tradition), and that might prove hazardous...
Oh, and on a completely different note (ah... unintentionally corny pun, my apologies...) is anyone out there going to AX 2007? Just out of curiosity...
My avi is currently cosplaying as L as well... (random bit of information I'm sure you didn't need).

That last one was amazing! I already have hair a little similar to L, that is to say it's the same color and about the same length, so it's not too hard for me to do... I also have a very L looking laptop and cell phone I'm ganna be using...
Still need hancuffs though... crying
AX=Anime Expo by the way! mrgreen

As for going barefoot, what I do when I can't go barefoot because of stupid health safety laws (grumble) is make shoe-soles out of brown paper towels, like the ones in public bathrooms (I'm also cheap) and fold them a bunch of times until they're thick enough, then cut it to fit, and strap them on with clear fishing line. That way you can walk on the street, and take them off when you get to the con. Save them and put them on again before you leave, and unless you step on a needle or something your feet should be pretty well protected. 3nodding

Thanks for the sugessition, and cheap is always better, I'd hate to have to spend my money on footwear when I could be spending it at the con...

Megacon. whee We're getting his hair done at a salon.
o: We just need to find a white shirt that goes up to the elbows.
>> My friends doing his makeup. I guess it's just real heavy eyeliner.

Cool, I wish I could get my hair profetionally done, but I'll be in a hotel (and don't know the area, or their hairstlyists). Pulse it will be in the middle of the week so it's not like I could just get it done where I live and then go over to the con or anything...
The white shirt is to the wrists not the elbows isn't it?
Yeah, the makeup is mostly just eyeliner, but I'm just bad with makeup in general, and I can't firgure out if I should just do the bottom of the eye, or if I should also do the eyelid...

8D Will you be at Megacon too? Or is it a different convention? ^^;;
o_o Hmm, I thought it was to the elbow. Well, not exactly at it, but not exactly all the way to the wrist either. @.@ I dunno.
o: I'll check volumes 1-7 for an good picture of his eye. :3 I'll check if he has the marks on both.

my suggestion would be to first outline your eyes with black (lightly!) and then use a black shading and slowly move it outwords. his eyes aren't so much make-up as they are that way from lack of sleep (or at least that is what it is SUPPOSED to be.) it seems a lot of people are making the mistake of making it friggin dark and rich as hell. no, it's a dark form that comes from extreem lack of sleep (COMMON he only sleeps like....once in a blue moon 3nodding ) almost like xd bruises except smaller and...not.
suggested process- step 1- line your eyes lightly with a dark grey (not black) liner.
step 2- (now I actually USE charcoal for this because I have charcoal pencils but you can use regualr black power makeup stuff) rub one fingers against your charcoal pencil (or power or whatever) make sure you have the eye you are going to be putting it on CLOSED. line around your eye (try to keep it about the size of the tip of your pinky around your eye and not go any larger. in fact a little smaller is good.) work lightly and then repeat the process further in, you want it to gradualy get darker as it goes towards your eyes.
step 3- repeat process with other eye. razz
good luck.
EDIT- also it looks a little red/brown on the outskirts of the darknes. perhaps try setting a first layer of a darker brown/red color (like a rust that kinda matches your skin tone) before doing the blacks/greys

No, this year I'm only going to AX (Anime Expo) beacuse I just started my first year in collage so I'm too busy to do much else right now... crying
I think it's a full, long sleeve shirt but like you I'm not 100% sure....
Thank you so much! that would be a great help.... ( crying You just reminded me that L dies... It was so sad!)

I know that the eye make-up is actually just dark circles, which is probable why I'm having so much trouble with it... hopfullly I'll be able get it done now....
