History Athari was always a loner. Her story is a sad one; her parents were killed by humans when she was young, and she was forced to take care of herself. Her many scars are proof of her trials; and her heart is hard as stone now. Her beliefs are strange; and she believes she rules all others.
When she was only a calf, she was weak and sick from lack of food and family. Her mind was corrupted by fever dreams, where a large whale, larger than any could possibly have been, filled the sky and told her of her journey and purpose. She was told to collect as many whales as she could, and control them for the sole purpose of collecting souls for the whale Gods. She was never told why she needed to collect souls, nor did she ask.
Now, her life has been spent searching for others to join her. She is lonely and angry, and she wants nothing more but to please the Gods. She thinks that since that day so long ago, they have been angry with her, and that's why they haven't contacted her again since. Now she searches the sea for souls to collect, hoping that one day she will be visited by another God.----------------------- Religion All the whales in this pod believe in the whale God Athari speaks of; Maawio'Machwa. Each of them believe Athari is the Gods messenger, and treat her with respect and awe. Whatever she says goes. She is like a queen, and makes all rules and rituals.
They are allowed to breed, but only the original Pod members are allowed to do so freely. When a calf is born, it is signed to any available mate, and when they are both of age they will breed, and so on and so forth. The only thing they do not allow if incest; Athari says the whale Gods want only pure souls.
When the calfs are born they stay with thier parents until they don't need thier mother to survive any longer, then they are taken by Athari and lead to a remote part of thier lands to be trained in the ways of Maawio'Machwa. The area is unknown to any but Athari and the Priests. There are old whales there that are treated almost as well as Athari herself. She appointments them Priests and they believe as wholeheartedly as she does in the God.b The Priests may breed with Athari's permission, but they may choose anyone they wish to breed with.
As adolescants they return, then breed with thier previously assigned mates. Afterwards they are restricted from leaving the pod, and go on with life as normal as they can make it.
Every month, all the whales (excluding the calfs and priests) gather at the sunken ship for the Festival. Beforehand Athari picks three full grown males to go and hunt as many sharks as they can, for three days and nights. They bring the feast back and then guard it from other predators, though they aren't allowed to eat any of it until the night of Festival.
On Festival night, Athari tells of her experience and how the Gods saved her from death so she could spread thier message. She tells of her life and then of the story of how the Gods created whales and the rest of the creatures in the sea. Then she marks each whale; a circle within a circle on thier left fin. She does so with one of her teeth. The pod feasts on the sharks afterwards, and they are restricted from eating anything but shark for that night and the following day.
The day after Festival is the only day whales are allowed to leave the Pod lands. Athari picks four whales; two females, two males, to go out into the world and gather more followers of Maachio'Machwa. They have one week, and should they not return by then, they are assumed dead and Athari puts a curse on thier soul, so they will never meet the God they worship.
If they do return, but unsuccessfully, Athari scars them. Four circles; one on each eye, and one on each fin. If they return successfully, they are rewarded with a feast and the honor of marking each new recruit. New recruits are marked with a diamond on each fin. During Festival, if there are new recruits present, the circle within the circle is put inside the diamond. Same with any unsuccessfull whales; three circles on thier left fin.

The sunken ship and the area surrounding it is vast. The ship is large; but not large enough to hold more than five whales at a time. The area around it is filled with huge rocks and crevices, caves and gorges. There is an unlimited supply of new areas to discover and explore.
The Training Ring is an area not too far from the ship, though it is hard to find unless you're looking for it. It's a large area surrounded by rocks, so tall they skim the surface of the sea, making it near impossible to swim over. The only way in is a tunnel, though it is hidden behind many weeds and corals, masking it. AThari found it when she was just a calf by accident, and now it's perfect for teaching the new calfs.

Brief Personality Description: Ever since being thrown out of his parent's pod, and not quite understanding such logic, he's lived mostly on his own; taking companionship with almost anyone he comes across. Still angry, and feeling as though he's been deceived some how by his parents, he's turned to a more ruthless attitude. Savage even if somehow conflicted with either prey or enemy, for he is only one whale in a sea of many enemies. His moral belief: one must learn to stay alive, before they get the honor of protecting another.

Brief Personality Description: He's a rather bloodthirsty whale, but not because he himself enjoys the pain of others. He believes things similar to Athari, but instead of souls, he thinks that the gods desire blood and pain to cleanse the souls of their sins. He'd be completely loyal to Athari, as she is of course, the gods messenger.
EDITED: I changed his rank from Priest to regular xD I decided that Vi would be better for the position of Priest, and I don't want to hog the spots x3

Brief Personality Description: He enjoys being in charge, and while he claims that he doesn't fear the gods, he knows better than to disobey someone who may be able to contact them. He acts like a completely loyal follower who wants to please the gods as Athari does, but in reality he just wants to gain their power for his own. Fortunately for him, he is a very good actor.
