The System. How it Works. --The Nintendo Wii is a motion sensitive, fully interactive system that allows you to actually feel like your in the position of the person on screen. This game uses motion sensitive technology along with a sensor bar that makes you move around to win. You can't win sitting still in most games, you have to be it, to win it.
Design
Featuring a compact design that makes it a natural addition to any television setup, the Wii console is white in color and can be displayed either vertically or horizontally.
Size
About 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than 2 inches thick (roughly the size of 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other).
Network
The Wii console communicates wirelessly with the Internet via wireless or a Wii LAN adaptor. Wii also can connect wirelessly with Nintendo DS.
CPU / GPU
PowerPC CPU (code-named “Broadway”), made with a 90nm SOI CMOS process, jointly developed with and manufactured by IBM; GPU developed with ATI.
Media
A single self-loading media bay plays single- or double-layered 12-cm optical discs for the Wii console, as well as 8-cm Nintendo GameCube discs.
Input / Output
Input: Four Wii Remotes can communicate with Wii, which features a bay for an SD memory card.
Output: An AV Multi-output port for component, composite or S-video.
WiiConnect24
The Wii console can communicate with the Internet even when the power is turned off. The WiiConnect24 service delivers a new surprise or game update, even if the system is idle. Users can connect wirelessly or by using a Wii LAN adaptor.

The Controllers. Wii Remote - A.k.a. WiiMote
The Wii Remote is the primary Wii controller, which allows for point-and-click-style gameplay. It's also motion-sensitive, letting you twist, lunge, tilt, and lift your way to gaming greatness. A rumble device and a built-in speaker offer feedback.
--The WiiMote let's you fully interact with the game. From slicing, to slashing, to balancing, to shooting, you will indeed use this controller often.
Nunchuck - WiiMote Attachment
Some games have you attach the Nunchuk to the Wii Remote for additional control options. The Nunchuk features a comfortable, ergonomic design, a Control Stick, and two buttons. The Nunchuk is motion-sensitive, allowing for another dimension of game control.
--The Nunchuck are usually used for moving characters around, like in the legend of zelda. Though the nunchuck usually isn't necessary for games more than 1 player, it's still a great thing to have in case.
Classic Controller
The Classic Controller is needed to play Virtual Console games and is sold separately. The thin, traditionally shaped peripheral plugs directly into the Wii remote, and it combines the best features of the SNES and N64 controllers.
--You mainly use the Classic Controller for Virtual Console games you can buy on the Shop channel found on your Wii Menu. There's really no other purpose for it, so unless you want some retro games, I don't think you need to buy it.

The Games. The Channels. The Internet. The Games
Nintendo announced that all first-party titles will be available for $50 or less. The company did not comment on how much third-party publishers will charge for their games, but we imagine that third-party pricing will match Nintendo's. We've put together a list of Wii launch titles from both first- and third-party publishers--these are games that will be available at or around launch on November 19. The second text list represents the games that will launch by March of next year.
--The Games. Every game uses the Wii Motes motion sensitivity, some better than others. From simple pointing and shooting, to swinging and extreme, fun movements. This is how they keep your interest in these games. The Games are pretty fun, though they are coming out pretty slow right now, and are amazingly interactive.
The Channels.
The Wii console will revolutionize how people play games. But more importantly, it will entice new players into the world of video games by offering a variety of entertainment, information and communication channels that add value to the console and make it a device that the entire family can enjoy. The Wii Menu will be the first screen shown on the television, as it easily integrates itself as part of people's everyday lives.
--The Channels are downloadable from the Shop Channel and system updates. Currently, there are only three channels up for download (besides virtual console games) The Internet channel is where you can actually browse the internet and go to sites like Gaia. You get this from the shop channel. The Weather channel, which requires a simple Wii update to aquire, allows you to find out the weather conditions around the world and your area. And Last but not least, the News channel, the most recent channel to be released, allows you to read the news from around the world.
The Internet (WiiConnect24)
The Wii console can communicate with the Internet even when the power is turned off. The WiiConnect24 service delivers a new surprise or game update, even if the system is idle. When you turn your Wii on each day, you'll never know what to expect!
--With the WiiConnect24 capability on your Wii, you can message other Wii's and mingle your Mii's with your friends! Whether your Wii is on or off, if your WiiConnect 24 is on, your Wii can recieve messages. It's truly amazing and requires you to have a friend code.

The Glitches. The Cool Things. The Sensor Bar ReplacementYour sensor bar get broken? Don't feel like buying a new one? Lazy? Well here's a trick where you can use an everyday item to replace that old, broken sensor bar.
1) Take away the sensor bar, it's broken, why do you need it? 2) Find two candles that are relavently the same size 3) Put the candles roughly where your old sensor bar's ends were. 4) Light the candles 5) Turn off ALL the lights, try closing windows too 6) Turn on your Wii and attempt to move your pointer on the screen 7) Have fun! And note: playing on the sides of the candles may be less functional than in front of them
How does this work?
Well, your sensor bar doesn't actually do much of anything except emit infared (IR) lights. Your remote is actually the one that does all the detection for your Wii. However, your remote uses those IR lights in the sensor bar in order to know where it is.
So how does putting candles make this work? Candles / Fire emits IR lights as well as visible light and etc. Your Candles are basically the LED lights found in the sensor bar. Making sense? It should.
But hey! The sensor bar is connected to the Wii, I thought that that's why you needed it. Well, no sorry that's not why you need it, though it sounds like it would. The only reason that sensor bar connects to the Wii is because it needs power (Power sucker!) in order to light the two IR lights.
Don't believe me? Go try it yourself.
