Massive body, green dull eyes, a low 'melodic' growl in his chest. He lounged around the tree, watching the day go by slowly. It was only mid-morn. He had awoken in the early hours of the day, and started to watch everything go on here. The border of the Pride Lands were just so far away, if Mwana wanted to, they could possibly reach it before nightfall...however, Trigger promised that he would not push her too much and that they would leave when she was ready. They had a long ways to go if they were to find a good place to live or just a place to leave her where she is better off. He could feel that he could not stand her much anymore. Tolerance was all he had right now and....well, her princess-ness was bugging him to no end. When he spoke, she just wanted to let him talk. When he asked if she would hunt with him, she declined and he ended up hunting for her (though he sort of liked it that way now). The females of the Demon's Den were better than their 'relationship'. But he had made a promise to take her somewhere safe, he was gonna do what he said he would.
Mwana was just on the other side, he did not want to wake her, let her rest. He laid back against the tree, his paws upon the other and chest out, head high, watching out over the lands. It was frustrating that Mwana would not do something for herself rather than having someone else do it. She hunted for her sisters and herself, but she would not hunt for herself and him. Was it because it was him? A stranger? A male? Was it because she knew that if she didn't hunt that he would? ...he was being used? The growl on his chest started to growl more as his paws kneaded into the dirt. He was not gonna become a slave again....he was tired of listening to orders without something in return. He was not gonna allow it to happen again. The urge to leave to "hunt" was stirring again. He had more better conversations with the rogues that he met during his hunts like Inzo, Kumbuko, and Sukari.....but with mwana...it just seemed one-sided.

In the middle of the night Mwana had had a strange urge to sleep in the tree. It happened sometimes, for when she had traveled with her sisters they had almost always slept up high in the branches, for safty. Being misties, it was easy for them to climb with their light frames. And that was just what she had done early in the morning while the stars were still out, settling on a large branch in the dark.
She finally began to stir, stretching out her slim body. She slid her sliver eyes opened and peered blearily at the sunlight. Ahhh, great. Another day. She wrinkled her nose in distaste, wanting to go back to sleep. But instead she sat up and looked around her. She saw Trigger below, looking rather unhappy, and a few birds flitting away in the distance. And she saw a nest.
A sly grin formed on her maw. Too easy. She looked down at Trigger with a flick of her tail, "Care for a light breakfast...?"

Trigger flicked an ear and turned a gaze up to her. His eye twitched for a split second of irritation, what was she up to this time? She was probably expecting him to run off to some random place to catch her a "light breakfast." Princess or not, he was not a follower her of stupid pride. He was a Firekin, an enemy of the Mistweavers surely she was alive for the invasion back then. He was... Ani was, both who've left behind their prides as vagrants. She must've known that their bloods were rivals.
"What would you like.....Mwana."
He spoke, almost coming out as a growl. Now thinking upon their lineage history, he could feel his Firekin blood boil. He quickly pressed on it and tried to remain calm. Mwana had her reasons to do the things she did, he just wished she would respect him more, treat him better, and for herself...do things her own. He lived by the principle of why do it for someone when they could do it perfectly themselves. His eye twitched again and rose to his feet.
"Whatever it is, I suppose I will be the one who has to go get it, huh?"

Mwana scoft, jutting out her lower lip in a pout and in offense. "Of course not! Ooo, the acusations! Here I was, ready to use my wonderful skills to privide a snack and you get angry with me~!" Humph! Serve him right for jumping to conclusions! Maybe she just wouldn't give him any. For while the breakfast she had in mind wasn't very filling, it was a rare treat and did have some nutrients you couldn't get in a kill. In her honest opinion, everyone should have some once a while.

"Yeah, and let me guess, you are gonna hop down from there and run off to get us some breakfast? Since I've been with you, I have yet to see you hunt except for when we met and even then, you did nothing. Once I find somewhere safe to leave you, will you be able to even hunt for yourself or would you want me around to slave to your orders?"
That time, it was more of a growl. One could obviously tell that he was not in a good mood. Defiantly not in a good mood. He jerked his head away and laid down again.
"Forget it, i lost my appetite, you can get your own breakfast."

Mwana looked extremely irate. She had woke up in a good mood, mind, and here he went spoiling it! "Well excuse me, but I don't recall the last time you even asked me to hunt. You just go off and do it without a word to me and come back. I'm not a mind reader," she huffed, standing up on the branch she had chosen as her napping place. She began to move with careful pawsteps up the branch, her blance exceptionally good for a lion in a tree. She then jumped up to the next higher branch, moving very slowly. This limb was rather thin and shakey, so she took her sweet time in letting it sway beneath her weight. But, after a moment's patience she was able to reach the nest she had spotted. Mmm...it was filled with 6 large eggs, perhaps a hawks or some other hunting bird's. Well SHE was going to have a little breakfast, even if he was being a sour puss.

"If I recall, the first night after we left your sisters. I had asked if we could hunt together to make sure I do not pass out during this journey, I have done everything for already, Mwana. I have starved myself to assure that you had the energy to keep going." he snarled behind his shoulder. He had eaten small games when he had waited for the prey he caught to die. He would only mortally wound them, leave for a quick catch like a rat or a rabbit and come back to watch and wait. That was all he ate, that small game. The rest of it was all for Mwana, the female needed the energy and to fill out a bit more. But what made him sadden was that the female did not eat the entire meal and leave the rest, wasted life. So he would take it elsewhere and leave it for the scavengers.
"And here I was trying to befriend you."
He scoffed and got to his feet, starting to circle the tree to find the closest herd to find her next meal for the day before their leave for yet another tree where the same process would continue. Rest, Hunt, Rest, Hunt, Rest, and Hunt some more. Tedious and redundant. He just wished, that she would be a female that he would be proud to say as a 'friend'.

"Yes, you did, and I went with you. But you didn't even give me a chance. You ran off and came back with game, not even letting me try for myself. Sorry if I can't out hunt you, I didn't know that was expected of me," she replied loftily as she began to prod at the eggs in the nest thoughtfully. She bent forward with great care, picking up one egg with her teeth. She tilted her head slightly, putting a slight pressure on the shell so it would crack ever so slightly, letting the nutrients and liquid slide into her mouth. Mmm.

"Not that time. When I had asked you if I passed out, what would you do. I had suggested that we both go hunting together and we could hunt and feed the two of us rather than just me. That first time I hunted was for you to get me to your sisters. I wanted to know what was wrong with this situation and I tried to fix it."
He sighed and lied down again. There was not another herd around for miles, they were too far, well, too far for Trigger to be from Mwana and hunt. As long as he could see the tree, he would feel more safe with her in his view.
"Mbweha made you hunt for her. And now I am hunting for you. I see that you carry their habits on with you, Mwana." with a sigh, he looked up at her. "Do you even like me?"

"And I said fair enough and you never asked me again," Mwana said after dropping the shell back into the nest and licking her lips. And honestly, hadn't they both been half asleep that time? What an odd thing to remember. She began to eye another egg hungrily when he asked her the strangest question she had ever heard come out of his mouth. Did she LIKE him? What kind of stupid question was THAT?
And while it had no significance to her...she knew it did to him. s**t. She wasn't exactly the empathetic type and she didn't really want to be. So she trod on the question with care, rolling a egg closer to her gently with her paw, "Well...I don't...dislike you. You just seem awful grumpy most of the time." She picked the egg up and, deciding to offer in case she had completely butchered her answer she asked, "Want one?"

He sighed and dropped the hunting subject and just sat under her. He outstretched a paw casually.
"Well, if you don't dislike me, then that means you like me. A double negative, right? As for being grumpy....Mwana, you do now that our prides....well, what used to be our prides, were rivals? Mistweavers and Firekin? Were you around for that invasion then?"
He asked. He remembered taht night oh too well....it was the night that his mother was killed, the time he spared Funsani's life and made a good friend. It was his first time he had left the desert sands and the first time he got to get into any sort of conflict outside of training with his.....b*****d old man. With a sigh.
"Alright, give me one."

Mwana dropped the egg, aiming for his outstretched paw. She went back to shifting through the eggs. "And that makes you grumpy, does it? That you're helping a mistie?" she questioned, seeming rather casual about the subject. She really didn't...register him as a firekin, to be honest. He had said he had been a slave...that didn't really count. Firekin didn't keep slaves that were fullblooded members of their pride. Did he think of himself as one though? She honestly thought he had not right...no, not right, no need to. It just didn't fit.

"Firekin blood runs through my veins as well as Pride Lander. As for helping you, I am just peeved that you just lounge around and rather not spend your time enjoying yourself with me or something. All we do is hunt and rest and hunt and rest and hunt and -"
His voice cut off when there was a loud crack noise. Silence. His eyes just narrowed aggitatedly. He could feel the oozy liquid slide down his forhead through his mane. The egg she had just dropped had landed on his head. Was she trying to aim or did she just drop it? What happened to the wind factor? What happened to everything!? He just sat there in that same position.
"You....did that on purpose...."

"Well if you weren't so grumpy I'd want to spend more time with y-" She stopped when she heard the crack. What, did he let it hit the ground? She shifted her body carefully, so not to fall, so she could peer over and see what happened. She blinked, looking rather surprised. It took every inch of her self control not to laugh, "No...I aimed for your paw...hm...did you move?" Oh god, better look away. It was too funny a sight and if she didn't distract herself she was going to burst into giggles, lady or no. It was just far too hilarious.

Trigger growled. "No."
He brushed what he could off his mane before it dried and got the strands stuck togehter. He looked back up at her and narrowed her eyes. Why was it him that had to get punished for this sort of thing. With a sigh he rose to his feet and looked up at her.
"I'm going to the river to clean off, you can...do whatever the hell you want."
He grunted as he started down to the river. A good bath would be nice after a day of sweat, dirt, and now egg yoke on his head. This was just perfect. Why the hell was up with her. She purposely dropped that on his head, he knew that even she had to be able to aim or something. Geez, this day was gonna be the worst through this entire journey.....
