Snow had fallen overnight in the city spreading a thick, cold silence across the world.

Ziya was unsure what to do. Snow was like sand, he had come to this conclusion as a baby. His parents had taken him to the mountains for a holiday.

Though seeing it again he was not sure he trusted it. For a start it was cold. Sand was nice and warm, comforting. You could curl up on it and sleep like a bed. He really wouldn't want to curl up on snow. Then it turned to water and it disappeared. Sand didn't dissapear. It moved around, but it was always there.

Dressed in thick layer and a wooly hat his aunt had made him he tried to wade through a drift of snow whilst his father collected some plants he needed for his healing.

There were no squirrels out today. He could see some children in the distance playing with the snow. Giggling to himself he started to make the snow into a ball in his hand, just like they were. He had no one to throw it at so he slung it over his shoulder. Laughing to himself he started to make another one.

"HEY!" A small little huff came from over a snow drift. That little snow ball that Ziya had tossed managed to find one unseen target. Shyala had been laying in the snow, snuggling into the cold while she wiggled arms and legs around for a snow angel.

Only problem was... she was stuck in the snow! Horns were rather difficult to have when you squish them into snow. And that snowball? Square in the face.

So there she laid, brushing the cold clumps of snow from her skin. It wasn't because the snow was cold, it just blurred her vision. Who would be so mean as to throw snow at her?! Her daddy was playing with her brother, so it couldn't have been either of them...

Ziya blinked as a voice came from behind him. Turning he looked for its source and could see nothing, well, not at first glance. Then, he spotted the movement. and the pale colours of the person's clothes.

"Sorry!" He cried, wading over to the small girl that was lying in the snow. She looked a little familiar. "I didn't see you." He crouched down and smiled broadly. "What you doooin'?"

Only eyes turned to look at Ziya, a small smile on her face. "Layin in da snow!" DUH. Couldn't the boy figure that out? Though maybe if she was nice enough he'd somehow get her horns unstuck. She tried tugging her head free, though her neck pinched awkwardly.

"Daddy said I could play in da snow.. so I'm makin' a snow angel!" She giggled, making her point by pushing out legs and arms once more.

Ziya watched her with interest and laughed a little as she waved her arms and legs around.
"That looks fun." he said, flopping back into the snow and copying her. It was even colder in the snow and he was not sure that he liked it very much. He wrinkled his nose and sat up.
"My name is Ziya." He said holding his hand out like grown ups did. "Are you stuck?"

She attempted to turn her head and look at the boy, he just vanished from her sight! But the sound of snow shifting around told her he didn't go far. When he sat up once more, she flashed him a big smile. "My name is Shayla!" It was too bad she wasn't any older, or perhaps she would have remembered their meeting as babies.

She reached out for his hand when it was extended, just keeping that big grin on her face. "Uh-huh! I can't get up and I can't see where my Daddy is." She stated, taking hold of his hand. She noted how different they were. Her hand pale like the snow, and his darker like the toast she has for breakfast.

Giggling a bit, she instead of trying to pull herself up, tugging Ziya down into the snow. "My horns are stuck in da snow... 'cause... I dunno why. But could ya dig 'em out? Pweeeeese?"

Ziya cried out as he was dragged down into the snow and started to laugh. Sitting he shook his head of the cold, wet stuff and crawled closer to her head.
"Wow, they're really, really stuck." he said as he started to try and dig away at the snow with his hands. It was freeeeezing.
"Do you like the cold?" the sand spirit asked as he imagined his hands getting warmer. He grinned as it worked and the snow started to melt.

"Mmm-hmm! I love snow! It makes everything all pretty n' white! I don't like da sun though 'cause it always makes the snow go away. Daddy said the sun melts the snow and soon there will be no more snow until next winter... " At that, she looked a little disappointed, not looking forward to spring obviously.

Once a weight difference was felt, Shayla gave a yank to her head and finally freed her horns. Looking over at Ziya, she grinned and launched herself at him with wide open arms. "Thank Yoooou!" Beaming, she turned her head and pressed a little kiss to Ziya's cheek. It had made Elazu's ears turn red when she accidentally kissed him, she wondered what Ziya would do! Specially with this kiss on purpose.

"My daddy says I'm a Spirit Incantation. Is that what you are? He says I'm a special baby because of that.... 'Cause I gots special powers that no ones elses got." She stated, still grinning from ear to ear as she hung on Ziya.

"We never evr have snow where I live." Ziya said, though that made sense where he lived there was lots and lots of sun. "Maybe you can go to the Mou...oof!" Ziya cried as Shayla launched herself at him.

At her little kiss he grinned. Being an attention seeking spirit kisses and hugs were always welcome.
"You are welcome." he said hugging Shayla back, very happy thathe appeared to have made a new friend.

"Speshul?" Ziya asked tilting his head to the side. "Maybe I'm one. My daddy founded me in his work place and I can make sandstorms and this he said, imagining his hand feeling warm and touching her nose with his finger. "My cousin can't do that and alls she is is normal. So maybe I am one!"

Shayla grinned, noting the difference in reactions. Maybe she didn't have cooties? Elazu was just a silly boy! Giggling a bit, she listened as the boy spoke and watched his hand raise. Though that smile on her face faded when the warm was touched to her nose. Ew, warm. Sitting back, she quickly rubbed her cold hands over the little nub.

"I don't like warm... I like cold." She muttered. "N' I can do stuff to. Like dis..." Using Ziya's shoulder as a base to stand to her feet, she took a few steps away before promptly shoving her head into the snow. Sure... They just freed her from it, but... Ok.

Moments later, she gave a few small grunts and groans. Little hands pushed out and viola! The snow moved. Not only did it move but an igloo like hut was created. Sure it could collapse at any moment, and probably would... But she still managed to make it!

Huffing, she plopped down upon her butt and sighed. "Took me days to do that... But soon da snow is gunna melt Daddy says... I dun want the snow to go way."

"Sorry." Ziya grinned as he looked at his hand. It seemed they were quite the opposing spirits. "I likes the warm. I live in the Dessert." He said, getting his pronunciation wrong.

Ziya watched with facination as she began to wriggle around in the snow again.
"Wow, that's cooool." he said, sitting on the floor and crossing his legs. "Can you teach me how?"

At her last words he smiled and tried to think a little.
"Maybe there is a way to make it stay. Sand stays all the time."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 18, 2007 7:24 pm

"I dun tink I can show ya how... 'cause I dunno even how I do it." Shayla explained, moving to crawl inside the little hut though it was much to small and she pouted unable to get inside. "Daddy once made one for me... Long time ago," she started, turning to look at Ziya again. "I try few times to make my own but they always small n' fall down fast.... "

Shrugging, she just tapped her foot against the snow and the mound would fall to what it had been before... just a pile of snow. "Was a dessert?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. She pronounced it wrong as well since Ziya did.

Ziya smirked and flopped back down in the snow. What was a desert?
"Ummm. Issa biiig place, with lots of sand." he said, still rying to think about how he could compare it to the snow she seemed to love so much.

"Iss like snow, but yellow and not cold. Hmm, it's very hot. Maybe you wouldn't like it." He mused. "But you can make stuff. Like castles."

Shayla seemed to ponder it a moment. It was like snow, but yellow.... Was it the bad snow her daddy told her not to play with? But it was warm.. Yeah, didn't seem like she'd like lots of it.

"I tink dat.... It is like da sandbox at the park right? But you mean lots more? Cause I played in the danbox before." Though she recalled having a lot of sand stuck to her after that.

"Yes!!" Ziya said rather excitedly. "only LOOOAAADS more." he grinned, holding his arms out as wide as he could. "More than this." smiling to himself he picked some of the snow up in his hands and started to make it into a ball. "Where do you live?" he asked her. "In an icey palace?"
