Yue found himself in front of an unmarked door. It was becoming a rather bad habit of wandering and ending up in odd and/or unknown places. The sparcely decorated door offered a small plaque with a name. Unfortuanately, the markings on the old metal were too worn to be distinguished.

For some odd reason, Yue knew whatever had called him was inside the room. It was only the question of if it was a good or bad thing.

Under his hand, the knob turned surprising easily for such an aged entrance. He entered the room, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the setting after he shut the door. Once his sight was restored, his eyes widened at what greet them.

The natural light offered by several windows revealed the furnishings of a fairly large room. On one side of the white walls were bookshelves brimming with sheets of music. Towards the back were closets full of every instrument possible. Strings, winds, brass, percussion. Everything under the sun for a full orchestra.

At the center of the room, facing a particularly large window, was a baby grand piano.

His eyes were trained on the piano. He soundlessly made his way towards the bench and ran his fingers across the cover.

Surprisingly, they came up dustless. Not even particles of dust would settle on such a magnificant structure.

Yue lifted the cover and gazed at the ivory and jet keys. Depressing one of them, the note loudly resounded in the room.

At the sudden sound, Yue hesitated. He placed both hands on the keyboard in wonder. Despite having no recollection of how to play the instrument, it felt almost natural.

From the dark confines of his memory, countless notes wove together to form a medley of music. Pachelbel's Canon; Symphony No. 5; Minuet; Four Seasons. They were all hauntingly familiar, with each note drawing him closer to a trace.

Gone were the classical music. In its place was a melody written in his mind from a long time ago. Soon it was accompanied by a deeper harmony. It was a simple one yet it played a complex part in Yue's life.

" (original karaoke).mp3]Le Ciel," he murmured its title unconsciously.

It was Yue's own voice that broke his trance. Suddenly not knowing the continuation of the song, an odd chord echoed in the room.

He jerked back his hands and gently rubbed his ears. It seemed like the sensitivity to sounds was not limited to his human life.

Sitting on the bench, Yue contemplated where he had heard the song before. On a mission? In his human life? On the radio? Was it even released?

"If the title is "Le Ciel"... Then there should be a score written somewhere," the dark haired shinigami mused aloud. He rose from the bench and padded to the shelves.

He noticed that the sheet music was first arranged by famous composers. Then it changed to alphabetically listed titles. Bypassing the famous composers, Yue shifted towards the lesser known ones. It was unlikely that a romantic classical composer wrote the song; Yue had a distinct feeling that there were lyrics accompanying the melody.

"Le Ciel, Le Ciel... Le Ciel..." Yue recited as he shifted through the massive amounts of paper.

"Corpse Bride...Escapada...Harry Potter...La Bamba--Ouch!" Instinctively, he pulled back his hand at the sting of pain. Yue peered at his finger; a thin line of blood marked the injury caused by a paper cut.

Yue placed the injured appendage into his mouth, gently licking away the blood. He scowled at the offending sheets of paper as he continued his search.

Just as he was about to give up, the edge of a sheet stuck out from the large binder it was tucked into. Although most of the title was covered, it read, "Le C--". Carefully taking out the three-ringed folder, as he didn't want a plastic-cut on top of his paper cut, Yue made his way back to the piano.

The young shinigami propped the book on the piano and flipped open the white cover. Several pages of sheet music met his eyes and his lips parted slightly in shock.

He had found his quarry yet it said that its composer was...

"Yamashita Yue..." he whispered through numb lips. How was it possible that HE had written the music?

Yue turned the page. Another song, "Tsukiyo no Monogatari", also written by one Yamashita Yue. He skimmed through the thick binder. All scores for the piano. All written by himself.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence? The dark haired man selected one at random. It couldn't possibly him, right? The music looked unfamiliar, unlikely to have came from him. If he never wrote it, then he wouldn't know how to play it. Or it would be choppy as he stopped to sightread the notes.

Yet, when he settled down to play "Kizuna", the notes flowed seamlessly. He didn't even need to glance the sheet music. The melody resounded inside the room, and slipped through the cracks under the door and into the hall.

>>Slowly a familiar shinigami walked the halls, drawn forth by the gental sound of music. Who was playing? The girl followed it to the music room and silently entered. A man dressed in black. A threat?<<

As easily as the notes came to him, so did the lyrics.

Yue looked up to reach for another sheet of music. Inches away from the binder, his hand froze. During the middle of the song, another person entered the room, unbeknownst to him.

The pale figure was clad in a black kimono with elaborate silvery white designs.

Barely covering his shock, he greeted, "Hello."

>>she continued to watch him even after he greeted her, looking at him for a few more moments before her soft voice flowed forth<< Hello. >>Her head smoothly turned to the sheet of music<< Continue.

Yue mentally shrugged and extracted another sheet of music. This one read that it was composed by Yamashita Yue and Ueda Tatsuya. "Love in Snow"

Ueda...Tatsuya... Am I suppose to know him? the violet-eyed man wondered.

The words felt comfortable and smooth in his tenor voice as he accompanied the piano.

The sounds settled into the comfortable atmosphere as the cloaked shinigami continued to perform for the little girl with fathomless cerulean eyes.

>>She slowly closed her deep eyes to listen to the song, a sigh of contentment escaping her. How long had she wandered these halls, but never heard a good tune? All that attempted were sorely off key and the words too jumbled to understand. And when the song was over, the girls eyes opened again as she clapped her pale hands very slowly in a sort of odd aplause<< Who are you? >>The demon asked in that same soft voice<<

Flipping to another song, Yue briefly wondered why his throat didn't feel strained from the suddenly amount of singing.

Because you used to sing for hours at a time... For practices... and concerts... a voice whispered in his mind.

The sound of hesitant clapping broke through his thoughts. A soft voice whispered into the silent room, "Who are you?"

Yue rose from his seat. How long has he been sitting there, just playing song after song after song?

With his hands on his thighs, he bent at the waist, performing the proper bow of respect. With such a beautiful tsukesage, surely she is someone with a high stature.

"My name is Yamashita Yue. It is a pleasure to meet you. And you are...?" he trailed off.

>>The barest of smiles tugged at her lips at the bow, enjoying the respect. Maybe she would honor him by playing a game later. Maybe. She tilted her head back in a bow, head quivering so slightly one would doubt if it even moved at all<< Sayuri. Nice to meet you...yamashita yue.

So she speaks... Yue wryly commented in his mind.

He gestured to the array of instruments, "Would you like to play one? I won't disturb you."

Music was his passion, both as a human and shinigami. Well, it was before it was exploited in his profession. The pressure, sleepless nights, love and hate mail... How was he to expect that hidden inside the envelope was a poisoned needle?

His violet eyes darkened as his memories continued to relentlessly flow into his consciousness. Tilting his head slightly, he obscured his expression from the ten year old with his hair.

But it was the realization that another person was in the room that tapered his darker nature. He mentally shook his head and waited for Sayuri's answer, hoping that she didn't notice the change in his aura.

>>She glanced at him all knowingly, having been a shinigami for a good time. Instead of opening her mouth again though, she walked over to the array of guitars, studying them quietly. Sayuri turned her head to look over at him, her normal grim heart soothed by his music<< What would you like to hear?

::It was music that resonated so wonderfully off Enkei's ears. As he peeked his head into the hall, the music stopped as if on cue. Frowning, he floated down the hallway until he heard a pair of voices in muffled conversation. Blinking a few times, he floated further down the hallway, his semi-transparent end trailing behind him. Peeking his head into the doorway, he saw two other "beings" one a small girl and another male decked in black. Floating into the doorway nodded lightly.::

Howdy.

"Anything you wish," Yue answered. Tilting his head towards the piano, "Play the song inside of your heart."

He resettled himself on the piano bench and waited.

"Howdy."

At the greeting, Yue turned his head. The phantom torso levitated at the doorway. He really did need to replace that door. Perhaps with one that squeaked so he wouldn't be surprised so often.

"Hello, my name's Yamashita Yue. And yours...?" Yue calmly introduced himself, nodding his head at him. Afterall, his mother had raised him to be polite.
