Today seemed to be a wonderful day. No, it was more like a wonderful week. The presence of a beautiful mare, the news of having children on the way...everything played out perfectly for the light brown stallion. His life had seemed to go from an emotional reck to just about the best darn possible life he could have for himselfs. Oh, how his parents would be proud. But Bairn had visited either of them in a while, nor either of his sisters. His whole family seemed to be doing their own thing now'a'days and he just didn't bother to go out and search for them like he normally would.

Being with Astia was enough. She was moody, fat, dependent...all the normal things pregnant mares were and she needed Bairn. He couldn't go running off far away and leave her alone in such a state. What if the children came, and he was gone? He wouldn't be able to see them be born! That wouldn't be good, no...that was a very important moment in the now 'happy' stallion's life...he wouldn't miss it for the world.

Taking a break from spending time with his mate, who was off in the field not too far away, sleeping...Bairn wandered close to the river. He was thirsty, very thirsty...and he needed time to think about things. Think about the future, that was soon to come.

After meeting with Grencia, Aruna found it ironic that she had yet to find Rahu. Why was it so hard to find him? Her legs felt a little better, but it had been a while since she'd taken a rest. Her stomach bulged with the movement inside of it and she winced, completely exhausted with having to travel around finding the father of her foals. Delano had told her to find him, but she doubted she'd find Rahu again after what happened last time.

At any rate, if she ran into family, the news would not only shock them, but it would probably send her father, and especially her brother, Bairn, into a rampage... the females always were calmer than the males had been, she noted, trying to hide a snicker as she panted. She slowed her trot to a walk, managing to hide her pained huffs. If she were human, she'd be coming down with an asthma attack, but she wasn't a human, and horses knew nothing of that kind of disease.

Luckily, Aruna was a strong, determined mare. So, when she emerged from the surrounding forest into a familiar clearing where she knew each and every one of her family members usually visited, it was surprising and yet, at the same time, unsurprising to find her brother there. Frowning now, she wondered if she could avoid him, but Bairn had this sixth sense of knowing when his family was around, so she doubted she'd be able to go around him... and, well, she was tired. Enough said.

His ears perked up. Someone was behind him, but not just any someone...turning to see if he was right, the light brown stallion found himself looking over at his older sister. Aruna. A huge smile came onto his face as he ran up to the mare. "Hello dearest!" Bairn said loudly, almost over joyed to see her again. It had been a while since they last spoken...he had even seen their father before her. He had told Bairn that she was gone, off with her mate.

But there she was, standing right in front of him. But this wasn't the same sister he remebered and loved. No, she was different somehow. At first, Bairn didn't glance down at her stomach, he just stared at her face. Her expression. It looked sad, tired, sick...the face of a depressed mare? "What's wrong, love?" He spoke quietly, still very eager to tell his sister about the news of her becoming an aunt.

And then, he looked down. It was almost like he imagined it, that couldn't possibly be what he thought it was, could it? Blinking a few times, Bairn glanced back over to her expression rather then her stomach. She couldn't be pregnant. It just wasn't fair. Aruna...his sister wasn't supposed to be knocked up. Stupid stallion. "Aruna it's been so long. I have so much to tell you, so much. But first, I need to know why you look that way? What's got my sister so...down? Hmm?" Bairn's voice was the softest he could make it, still trying to push the pregnacy option away.

She blinked, and then put up a fake, cheerful smile. "Bairn! How have you been? It has been such a long time since I last saw you~" She said, half honestly happy to see her younger brother. "Have you met and been with Father?" she said, hoping to distract him. "And is there any news of which I should know?" she said, mostly teasing and now realizing there really was news.

"Nothing's wrong..." she said quietly. "I'm just on my way to find someone in particular... that's all. Lano's around, but he wanted to be by himself so we're just kind of traveling right now," she said, not really wanting to share her issues. She really wanted to just deal with them by herself; there was no point in involving her entire family--yet.

"If you're truly curious--I can tell you are--then just ask me directly, Bairn," she said bluntly, coldly. Her facial expression was schooled now; as if set in stone. She let nothing of her thoughts appear, and neither did she allow her tone of voice to let loose what she felt as well.

Her smile was fake, he could tell. Nothing could get past the stallion, especially when that something had to do with his family. Even Aruna...she was the most obvious when it came to hiding her true feelings. But, this was her problem...her life...if she didn't want to tell him what was bothering him, he wouldn't push it any futhur then neccessary. "I've been fantastic, Aruna! And I trust that mate of yours has been treating you alright, hopefully? Haha, yes I've seen father. He's pretty upset that you haven't been around lately. He's worried, love. Very worried for your well being. You should come back home." Bairn returned the half hearted smile, there was definitely something wrong with his beloved older sister and it pained him to see her like that.

He wanted so bad to tell her the news of Astia...but was it the right time? Would she be able to take it? "Of course." Bairn said simply, and left it at that for the moment.

"I see. Well, if it's any help...only me and Astia are around these parts. We wanted to find a place just to ourselves...so that'll save you a little searching time." The light brown stallion laughed...whomever she was looking for was probably hard to find, judging by her current state...and the strange fact that Delano didn't want to be with her...something was definitely wrong.

"No, it's alright dearest. You don't want to tell me, you don't have to tell you're only brother." Bairn smirked, haha...that was rather rude of him to emphasize it like that...but normally Aruna would laugh, right? Perhaps not today...she was completely different then normal. It appeared as though she didn't care...she didn't want anything to do with anybody. Tearing his eyes away from her fat stomach, again...Bairn didn't want to think of the sinking truth...so he left the subject untouched.

"I see... I guess I should visit Father sometime; he does tend to overly worry his head off," she said, actually laughing for real. If her brother didn't pry too much, she'd be willing to tell him all the news... but first, she wanted to know why he seemed perky earlier. "So tell me, my beloved brother, what has you so spry, nigh, and happy? I noticed as I entered that you were excited earlier on." She cocked her head, trying to push back what her stomach so obviously glaring out to the world.

"Yes, Delano has been treating me quite well, Bairn," she agreed; it was true, he really had been, although he'd distanced himself since that accident with her tummy. "I'll come back home when I'm ready, Bairn. Father has Mocha and Shimshek... by the way, I met this new Kalona stallion; he called himself Windflame Bloodrider. He spoke in the weirdest way, but it was really cool, I suppose," she added, sharing a little news.

"Oh? Only you and Tia are around here? Well, that's good to know. Lano and I have already found a place that's perfect for us, but things recently have gotten a bit... well, I won't tell you the news until you've told me all of yours, love," she finished, smiling softly, though her eyes were dead with no emotion. "Only brother? What? Did Father get Mother pregnant again?" Aruna asked. "Well, now, that means you're not exactly the only brother I have anymore, doesn't it?"

((Congrats on the Orchu baby! It's adorable! You're so lucky. xD I claim a basket if it ever breeds. -kidding-))

"Yes, which is why I don't think it's best to make him worry any longer. You should return home, for real...Aruna. For the sake of our parents and our family." He grinned, it was a complete and total surprise to see her laugh finally...but it made him all the more happier. Perhaps this little meeting would cheer her up a bit? Bairn and Aruna always had a way of making eachother feel better. "You really want to know? Well Aruna I shall tell you then!" A light chuckle escaped the large stallion as his smile grew even bigger.

"A few days after I told Astia I loved her...well...we saw eachother again...and..." He paused, he was definitely wording this the wrong way...the the excitment in his voice was too much to handle. "Aruna! You're going to be an aunt! Astia's pregnant! Well, I guess you already were an aunt because of Artemis's own children...but Astia and myself are having our own foals! Aruna, isn't this wonderful!?" The stallion laughed even harder then before, and glanced back behind his shoulder to see if Astia was anywhere in sight at the moment. He had left her alone, afterall...but perhaps she'd come looking for him.

"Good, cause I would kill that stupid unicorn if he ever did anything to you." Bairn said, the excitement from his news still obvious in his voice. "Well, I'm afraid the absence of his own daughter is too much, the presense of two mares isn't enough to fill that void. Mother told me the exact same thing about herself before I left her." The stallion looked at his sister when she mentioned the Kalona. Oh geez, Windflame. He shuddered. Horrible meeting, he was definitely scared out of his wits...but he wasn't sorry to say the Kalona's meeting wasn't a mistake. "My dear Windflame Bloodrider? Aha! I've meet him too, love. Very interesting fella...scared me half to death but very interesting all the same."

"It's good to know you have a place to yourself and-" Bairn was cut off when she said she wouldn't tell him anything until he told her everything. There were no secrets between these two...nothing at all. Why was she having such a hard time just saying something that probably didn't mean a thing! "Alright. I think I've said everything. Now what?" Those small golden eyes of hers were driving the poor stallion insane too...they stood for something upsetting...what was it?! "Oh please don't even make me think about that. Erm...heavens no. Although, I'm not quite sure since it's been a while since I've been home..." He laughed, "Well, let's hope if Father ever got Mother pregnant again that our siblings are all girls. That way I'll always be your only brother."

((Thanks! <33 I'm so happy I got an Orchu basket... ;~; X3))

"Return home... no... I'm not ready yet..." she said, sounding more worried than she wanted to let on. "I heard Father found a few new friends, and lives back and forth between two human teepees," she explained. It was a rumor spread to her through Shimshek, who was the one she saw the most from those she used to live with in the past before she had decided to strike out to find Delano and live with him instead. She didn't want to be separated from her mate like her father, Hania, was separated from her mother, Mahiri. "For the sake of our family..." she repeated, and then smoldered her brother with a withered look. "...perhaps I'll visit someday... but only after my troubles are over."

She blinked as her brother's smile suddenly grew, and watched him warily. He spoke with slight hesitation, but with an amazing amount of happiness she had never seen him show before. And then... "What!?" she breathed, also very happy and surprised. "Tia is pregnant? Bairn, you little scoundrel! Congratulations, dear one!" she said, very joyful. She was officially and truly an aunt now! Well, she had been before, since Artemis had gotten her own children, but she was most assuredly an aunt now, because she knew Bairn's mate very well. "It's very wonderful!" she agreed, eyes glowing happily for her sibling.

"Now, don't say that," Aruna said, trying to dissuade her brother from mentioning how he'd kill Delano. And then the subject returned to their father. She sighed mentally. "Did she? Mother and Father really just need to get together and stay together. Sheesh!" she exclaimed, exasperated. "It's amazing they love each other so much though, no matter how long they've been separated," she mused aloud. Her mouth twitched at Bairn's reaction to the name of Windflame. "Scared you, did he? That's a new one!" she teased, possibly one of the many mares who held no fear of the dark, demonic race. Not that Windflame himself was evil; he just... well, looked it. "I'm pretty sure he taught you a thing or two!" she finished, grinning wickedly.

"Well, at any rate, I hope I do not have anymore sisters because I feel I can get along better with more brothers," she said, winking. "And besides, why would you want to be the only brother in the family? Don't you want a younger brother?" Finally, it was her turn to spill all the news. Her gaze wavered a bit, and she spoke softly, but loud enough that Bairn could hear her. "I'm pregnant, Bairn. You'll be an uncle soon." However, she definitely couldn't produce a happy tone, because the father in question wasn't her mate Delano. In fact, the father in question was the one stallion Bairn exceptionally hated. Rahu.

He nodded his head slowly, he knew where she was coming from. Being away from the family had been a nice change...the option to start his own with Astia had finally come and now he wanted to just leave forever...but the light brown stallion could never actually do that. The thought of his mother being alone killed him. But Aruna had the right to live her own life, correct? "Oh really? Well, that's what Mother does anyways, just not as often as she would like." It was true, their little human boy had moved away from his sister...but the two of them visited often. But now that Swafi had gone off and started his own family and Artemis was no where to be found...Mahiri was the only one at the teepee no matter what. Bairn noted the look she had given him, something was terribly wrong here. Something that would either take a lifetime to fix...or perhaps even never be able to fix. "Of cource, love. Everything will be alright though, in time. All hearts heal. I'm your brother, you're my sister...we're in this together, whatever it may be."

And then his sister's reaction to his news only made the situation a whole lot better for the stallion. He laughed when she looked rather surprised, well...he could only understand. Bairn wasn't usually the type to do stuff like that. "Astia's pregnant, yes." A slight blush came onto his cheeks as she spoke, "You don't have to word it like that, dearest." He mubmled softly, staring at the ground. "Scoundrel. I ain't no scoundrel. But thank you! It's a miracle, really. Me, a father. Oh, the poor children." He joked, laughing away. "Haha, well they'll be good enough with you as an aunt."

"And why not? It's true. I don't want you to get hurt again." Bairn said in a very stern overly protective brother voice. And then it quickly changed when she mentioned their parents. "Haha, yes of cource. We really do need to set up a perhaps...secret meeting for the two of them. It's not good for their health to be so far apart for so very long. But yes, love like that can survive even the hardest of deals." He laughed loudly, not embarrest by being scared of Windflame. He was a Kalona, afterall...did Bairn not have a right to be afraid for his well being or life? "Oh yes. I was scared. And haha, he indeed taught me many things. Taught me not to judge others is what he did." He nudged his sister playfully. Yes, that certain Kalona was a real treat. As scared as he was, the light stallion was happy to meet such a creature.

"Oh well don't talk like that. You just don't know Artemis well enough. I bet you if that was me and she was standing here right now you wouldn't be saying that." Bairn teased, shaking his head slowly at his sister's playfulness. Her mood, still slightly dark...seemed to definitely have changed. "Perhaps. I don't know. I fear, I cannot get along with brothers as well as sisters. I wouldn't mind being the only brother. Then I would have all the power in the world to protect you all." Aruna's news came finally and it came as a rather huge shock. First he had told her that Astia was pregnant and now...!

So that was true. Her stomach was bigger. Glancing down at his sisters belly, he winced. Ah! That wasn't fair! Stupid stallion thinks he can just take his sister and do whatever he wanted to her! Well, he'd show him, that's for sure. Although, the news was still wonderful, for Bairn was happy for her. She deserved it more then him, and was definitely going to be a better parent. "I'll kill Delano, I will. Stupid stallion..." He mumbled to himself before looking back up at Aruna.

"Really? Me? An uncle? Wonderful news dear sister! That's just great! Our children will grow up together! Perhaps they could be as close as us!" Bairn's tone was surprisingly way more high pitched and happier then hers and it took him a moment to realize that. "What's wrong? Aruna, why aren't you taking your pregnancy as a good thing? Hmm? You're about to become a mother! The single greatest thing! What's wrong?" Bairn frowned at her reaction to her own news, and lowered his head. "Are you not ready? I mean, Astia didn't take it well at all because she's still young. But you're so mature, Aruna...you have nothing to worry about."
