Flaming hair spread across her shoulders as her normally austere face melted, revealing a kind smile and gentle eyes. Slipping into her mask, all through out the cold winter's night she played the role of an extrovert, a decorum expected of a Queen. She watched as servants dole out the wine and other libations to the gamut of guests.

A storm that began to rage outside, kept the guests inside. She tensed knowing that her duplicity might be exposed if she was forced to remain here much longer. The tones of the men who spoke in their supposedly elegant drolling voices, echoed. The hosts grew restless as they ahored long parties. No one was aware of the sole woman, begging for the storm to abate, so that she could escape before long.

As the people grew restless, their tongues loosened, as did their hands, and an effigy of the frightened woman's true state was made, and burned admist the cheers. She knew she had to escape, so she left into the storm. Swiftly, she retreated home, knowing that, today at least her duplicity was still hidden.

((The character will later be named and such. But this is the very beginning...any comments would be loved.))

This was very interesting! She sounds like a compelling character and I want to know more about her! I liked how you talked about her "duplicity" and I also liked the description in the first sentence! I really hope you continue this! xd

Wow, only a short bit, but I already like your writing style! The vocabulary and the situation almost reminds me a bit of Edgar Allen Poe's "Maske of the Red Death"... biggrin
