Runaways is an awesomeful series. It's a marvel comic book about some ragtag adolescent superheroes who band together to stop their evil parents. Despite being superficially hokey, it has incredibly realistic characters, which is a feat all the more difficult given the unreal situation, and great comedy. There's a magical artifact called "The Staff of One" and they spend most of the first book just bonking people on the head with it.
The most awesome of all, however, is Gert.
Gert is a purple-haired, chubby, non-foil, non stock character, non comic relief girl. She is smart, whitty, funny, sassy without being obnoxious, and all-around awesome.
Anybody else familiar with this series? (I've only finished the last issue of "Parental Guidance", so no spoilers please)

No, I don't know where the hell to buy comics crying But I did find one pic on google search for "Runaways comic" and she looks pretty cute whee Mayhap I can find it next time I go into Austin? whee

(I've only finished the last issue of "Parental Guidance", so no spoilers please) I read that comic in the Library..It was good, one of the more interesting comic book stories I've read for a while. I thought Gert was okay, I would of liked her more if her name didn't spell like the word "Gerd" and that dinosaur of hers is a bit too much. As for chubby girls in comics, My favorite two are Francine(Strangers in Paradise) and Cleo(Wet Moon)..
