Question about IIDX american controllers for ps2

So I found this weird pluggin thing on my IIDX controller that looks like it could be used for headphones but they aren't for headphones. Someone want to tell me what this pluggin is for?

It's for the foot pedal used in beatmania III.

Which never even got a home release so I have no idea why they put the plugin on the controllers.

DAO's better also.

Arguable. Supposably if you drop Dao's controller, it's gone, but I know with Desktop Arcade it's definitely not breaking that easy.
