Yawning and stretching his limbs Shui peered around with his deep blue eyes, they were almost violet as well. So strange, but he loved the color, it was just like water, and his name. He loved water. It seemed like he had grown from being so small to so big in no time at all. How very strange.

"Where has everyone gone?" he said aloud, peering about, padding along until he came across a puddl. He smiled a goofy grin and splashed his forelegs into it. S cool, he loved the way it rippled out as it always had.

Water fascinated him so much.

But where was everyone today? Shui wanted to have some fun, not be bored and alone.

Kisho, however, seemed to have other ideas in mind rather then play. He was doing something more practical-patroling the area. With such a large pack that they had, it was always important that someone keep watch and check the lands, for it was unreasonable to think they wouldn't attract some attention. Whether that attention was good or bad always was a mystery. Since he had no need to hunt at present, nor any other duties to attend to, he had set out.

He paused carefully, turning his large ears to catch the sounds around him, his crimson eyes alert. He could hear something. But after a moment the scent that reached him became familiar. Only Shui. His posture relaxed slightly, though he did not drop his alert attention. What was he doing way out here...?

Shui lowered himself to the ground. He was still such a gentle thing, still a puppy on the inside, he couldn't help it. He peered into his own reflection, tail wagging back and forth, "Tell me something today...please?" he said softly, as if the water was a living thing. Would be so wondrous if it finally answered him back.

"Please? I know you can hear me...I understand you...tell me something..." Shui said with a slight frown, as he got no answer from the puddle. Strange, he though it would finally speak back since he was bigger! He huffed and sat back on his haunches, ears back, why couldn't he talk to it? Wasn't he supposed to make mom and dad proud by being something unique?

He frowned, looked into the water...and at that moment he didn't see much at all.

This wasn't fun anymore...he wanted to play...

Kisho let out a small breath. Unlike his brother, he had no desire to be unique. Funny that fate had chosen him to be the seer and not someone to desired it more. He moved over to meet Shui, for he was ever there to guide and assist his siblings when they required it. "It does not speak, Shui, because it lacks the ability to. It is not alive-it had no vocal cords and therefor cannot produce sound on its own," he informed him, though his voice was completely matter-of-fact, there was no scolding or arrogance in his tone. He simply meant to inform.

Shui caught his brother's vague appearance out of the corner of his eye, wagged his tail, perked his ears up, but they fell back as Kisho began t o speak...possibly the truth about things. "But..." Shui looked to the water again, frowned. Why did he like it so much? Why wouldn't it just talk and show Kisho that Shui was unique, then surely his brother would be proud of him.

"Maybe but...what if it can in another way like...it doesn't need vocal cords to talk..." it was possible...wasn't it?
PostPosted: Tue Jan 23, 2007 6:44 pm

"That wouldn't be talking then," Kisho replied simply, settling back on his haunches. He knew Shui loved the water, but he didn't need to be unreasonable about it. If Shui got his head too full of ideas he might try something foolish-like mating with the water. Somehow that didn't seem to have a logically good outcome. "Water is not a living thing. It cannot express itself in any way. It has things living in it, but it is not alive. It is a liquid that nurishes our bodies."

Shui tilted his head. His brother made sense, perhaps it couldn't talk. But water itself could express itself, he knew that. "It can express...like us but...different..." he knew it could, he had seen it with his eyes all the time. "It ripples with change, like we do, and it can grow over time like us too..." he smiled. Peered at it. perhaps he couldn't speak to it, but it was a part of both his and his brother's life.

So it had to be important.

"That is simply because the outside forces that affect it change," Kisho replied without batting an eyelash. He wasn't a man of faith. No, he followed rational thought and it was impossible for a lifeless thing to have a form of expression. Expression was something special to intellegent creatures, or even if one wanted to go so far, living beings. No, a meer liquid, as important as it was, could not do such a thing.

Shui rattled his brain. His brother seemed to know so many things that he did not. But the water gave an expression from reactions of others things...like them right? "But if I poke you...you'll probably get annoyed...or angry, if I poke it, its calm appearance changes to that of unsettled..." Shui looked away from it, frowned, folded his ears back, "Maybe I'm wrong..."

Perhaps he was wrong at everything.

"No, your observations are correct," Kisho told him with a nod, "But your putting emtion to it when it is unnecissary. It becomes unsettled because you touch it. If you insulted it, however, it would not respond because it cannot feel and has no mind and your action has no physical affect on its appearance." His voice was still detached, not scolding Shui at all. He could tell his brother didn't really like this conversation though. That was obvious by his body language. "Well, do believe what you like, though don't be disappointed if it doesn't start singing to you," Kisho said, his voice mildy saracastic and teasing, but this was his way of showing affection-he didn't even bother with strangers.

"Alright..."Shui said absent mindedly, he turned to look at Kisho, grinned, poked him, jumped back, and wagged his tail. "Let's do something brother! Please can we?Please?" perhaps they could play together! That would be nice, or even go for a walk or do something fun and exciting.

There had to be something they could do.

"We are doing something," Kisho said with a roll of his shoulders in a shrug and a small grin. "We're talking." He pretended he didn't know what Shui meant. He did, of course, but physical play wasn't exactly his cup of tea-word play, fine, but fun and games seemed so pointless for the most part, except for the fact that they sometimes stimulated the senses in young pups, but no longer being a pup made it seem rather unecessary.

Shui sat back, tilted his head at Kisho...so...he didn't want to play? Just wanted to talk? Well, that wouldn't do. Shui sat in front of Kisho now, smiling, but staying silent, perhaps Kisho would find something interesting to talk about..until then, Shui was going to have a staring contest with his unknowing brother.

Kisho paused, and then asked with a note of seriousness, "Shui....do you plan on staying with us?" He gave his brother a calculating look with those deep crimson eyes of his. In reality, he could know that answer without asking. He could use his abilities. But he had never thought them practical. Two of their siblings had left and he wondered how many others would do the same. He prefered his siblings to be happy, obviously, but he would much prefer that the family stick together. He did care, even if he stunted his emtions with logic.

Shui tilted his head, his eyes held a bit of shock. "Does he want me to leave?" he mused in his mind. Kisho didn't want him to stay? Shui's ears fell back, perhaps he was taking this the wrong way, better just answer the question, "I wouldn't leave...why? Are you leaving Kisho?" Shui didn't want to leave, and didn't want Kisho to leave.

Why did others have to leave anyway?!
