There was no warning, there was no sign, and when it was noticed, it brought nothing but hesitation at first as it came as a total surprise. One lone knight would start a chain of events as he stood watch in the one of the Castles Towers. His duty was simple enough, it only required vigilance, and a spyglass. The mission, watch his quadrant of the Kings lands for anything out of the ordinary.

So, back and forth in a most boring of time, he did survey the Kings land, or at least his small part of it, as there were others that did the same duty elsewhere in the castle, but his eye soon caught notice of the smoke plume rising from a section of the Dark Forest. Shocking enough it was there in the first place, but even more shocking was the mere fact of its size. At least one thousand feet across by the Knights estimate its size was, and when his hesitation wore off, he quickly turned and began to ring the tower bell hard and fast.

It was only a matter of time his attention was caught by one of the duty sargeants, and the began to yell at the Sargeant, ‘Fire.’ His hand jutting in a direction of where he saw it. The Sargeant had of course craned his body to see the nature of the alarm, and his eyes widened when he finally saw what the Knight had. He quickly turned around and ran inside. Down the spiraling stairs he flew, and quicker yet upon at the bottom he ran to alert the Steward or the Captain of the Crimson Brigade. He care less who it was, only that one of them were told.

(NOTE: No lone ranger maneuvers as in no solo players, everyone will leave as a group from the Castle, except for Christophers who has been PM'd with his assigment, and when to post. No exceptions.)

CASTLE COMBAT SYSTEM

WEAPONS, SPELLS, AND ARMOR:

WEAPONS:

Alright as everyone knows, in order to adventure people have to have equipment and what not. This has been considered and thought about, and what you will see below is the fruits of my labor. Being a RP it will be expected that some kind of combat will happen. So Weapons and Armor are important. Spells also of course are just as important.

Now I have two lists below. The first list deals with weapons, and in it outlines what said weapons can do for damage and/or special effects. To hit something a D20 on Gaia will be used (ok I can hear the groaning already…. HUSH! I don’t like it either, but its what we have), to determine if the target has been hit. This is in the case of melee type weapons only. Magical Spells are considered automatic hits, but do not fret, victims of said spells will have a saving throw score. Now, of course the bad guys have to use a D20 to hit you folks back also, and so I have included a list for things to protect yourself with when worn, which is the second list called Armor.

Now to keep things simple, and basic, it is going to be high roll wins. This high roll though being affected by the type of Armor one is wearing. Which in certain cases adds pluses to ones D20 rolls. Which of course will be explained further below.

Now the good news is, before everyone starts sighing about getting killed, the Castle does have a temple with a dedicated healer…. So its important…BE NICE TO THE HEALER.

Now I will be honest with all of you, I am not 100% certain this combat system is going to work so it will be trial and error, and I will adjust as needed.

Alright, enough talk, on to the weapons first.

Now each weapon and certain items can do damage, and they are as follows (oh, please let me know if I forgot something so I can add to it. I did my best on these lists.)

Demon Bow 1d6 Damage (+2 Damage and To Hit on Angelic people and Elves)
Angelic Bow 1d6 Damage (+2 Damage and To Hit on Demonic or Undead)
Whip of Fire 1d4 Damage (+1 of Fire Effect is on –MUST ANNOUNCE THIS-)
Whip of Ice 1d4 Damage (+1 of Ice Effect is on –MUST ANNOUNCE THIS-)

Flame Sword 1D10 (+2 for fire damage, and -MUST ANNOUNCE THIS-, +4 Damage to Creatures of Water and Ice)
Gold Sword 1D10
Sword of Aegis 1D12
Ancient Katana 2D4+1
Angelic Staff 1D4 (+2 Damage and To Hit on Demonic or Undead)
Sun Staff 1D4 (+2 Damage to Undead, and can illuminate areas 30 Foot Area)
Pitchfork 1D6 (+2 Damage and To Hit on Angelic people and Elves)
Ball Bat 1D4
G blade 1D10
Dark Halo Claws 1D4+1
Chain 1D4
Chain of Command Tail Blade 1D4
Hammer 1D6
Trident 1D8
Candy Cane of Power 1D12 (+4 Versus Evil)
Ice Gauntlet 2d6 (Any Ice Attack, Character gets save)
Fire Gauntlet 2d6 (Any Fire Attack, Character gets save)
Costume that simulates claws or natural body weaponry 1D4

SPELLS

All spells that do damage does a maximum of 3D6 of damage plus 2 points per level of the caster. Note all victims of said spells are given a chance to save vs the damage. Also for magi to cast spells they must have some type of Wand, or Staff. Other items may be considered on a case by case basis. No wand or staff? No spells.

Characters can determine what the spell effects can do, but there will be limitations on how many can be casted in a day, area of effect, and vunerabilities to such spells. It is highly recommended that everyone create a spell book for there profiles.

ARMOR

Now different things worn afford people different degrees of protection. So you can imagine the two best armors out there currently are the Mythrill Armor, and the Damascus Armor. But don't fret, other apparel I have taken into consideration to be utilized in a fashion like armor also.

Mind you, I have not placed every last piece of apparel down below, but only that which I beleive applies. Bottomline though, in doubt, PM me and ask.

Regular Clothing: 1 Point
Leather Type Clothing: 2 Points
Chain of Command: 1 Point per chain
Dark Sprit: 1 Point per spirit
Nitemare Parasol -open- 1 Point, except agains Angels and Elves then 2 points
Angelic Parasol -open- 1 Point, except against Demons and Undead then 2 points

Damascus Armor. 1 Point per section of the Armor, if a complete set is worn, it is then considered to be 8 points. To get the coveted 8 points you must have the following 6 pieces, and it does not matter if its energized or not.

Armor
Dakr Helm
Dark Grip
Dark Leg
Dark Mantle

Mythrill Armor. 1 Point per section of the Armor, if a complete set is worn, it is then considered to be 10 points. To get the coveted 10 points you must have the following 8 pieces.

Mythrill Armor
Armor Belt
Either the Circulet or Helmet
Armor Mantle
Armor Shoulders
Armor Guards
Armor Skirt
Armor Shinguards

Dark Halo Magical Armor. 1 Point per section of the Armor, if a complete set is worn, it is considered to be 11 points. Yes you are reading this right, but to get this coveted 11 points you must have the following 9 pieces:

Either a Evil Eye, Dark Halo, or Demon Headdress
Demon Spike
Demon Neckpiece
Dark Hold
Dark Binds
Dark Tail
Dark Step
West Arch
East Arch

Now what the armor equates to is nothing more than not getting hit. Thus when rolling a D20, the amount of points you have on is added to your roll. If it is higher than the attackers roll, then he misses.

With her nose in a loose leaf ledger, the Steward was carefully checking the figures she'd received just this morning from the other staff members. She paused for a moment, noticing a discrepancy. She frowned and continued her leisurely pace to her office to run all the calculations. As she turned the last corner, she never saw what hit her.

She crashed to the floor on her back with all the grace of a tipped cow. The ledger, knocked out of her hands, flipped into the air and landed neatly over her head as if she was taking a nap in the middle of the corridor. Paper took to the air like startled birds, hanging for a heartbeat before fluttering to the floor. She moaned as pain shot up her back from the hard impact. The corridors definitely needed some type of carpeting. But what and how to keep it clean?

The duty sargeant babbled a stream of apologies. Then he mentioned the fire in the Dark Forest.

Laeus sat up, the empty ledger dropping to her lap. "What did you say?" She was positive that he'd just said that the Dark Forest was on fire. She wasn't sure she heard him right.

The man offered her a hand up and said clearly, in a strong sure voice, "The Dark Forest is on fire." He then told her the direction and which wall they had first spotted it from.

She was on her feet quickly. "Gather the Captain, Lord Ranger and Grand Master. We will meet them at the staircase of the wall." She yelled back at him, sprinting to the King's office where she thought he might be. The King did not run, so if she wanted him to arrive in good time, she knew she needed to move quickly.

"We?" The knight asked himself. He then ran to find the others.

Laeus scattered servants and guests alike as she plunged headlong down the corridor. Soon she was at the King's door. She knocked only once before throwing it open. Jarvis, summoned by the knock, was shoved to the side. She was breathing heavily by the time she reached the King's private office. Yanking open the door, she unceremoniously intruded on his solitude. "There is a large fire in the Dark Forest. The others are waiting." She said. Then she made a half-assed bow out of respect and an impatient gesture for him to move his keister.

Gwyndara

PostPosted: Mon Jan 29, 2007 3:31 am

Lady Gwyndara stood not far from the Kings Desk, looking deep into the roaring fire. When the Steward unceremoniously let her self in, she smiled, but then again thier was nothing new about that. Her smile died instantly when the news she brought sunk in. The Enchanted Forest was on fire.

Impossible.” She hissed quietly. Not out of disrespect or disbelief, but out of the sure idiocy of the thought. It had stood for thousands of years, who would even dare try to set such a thing on fire.

Merick.” She said. And the great black wolf stood stretched and yawned, then took off in a black streak of lightning to check things out.

Gwyndara quickly made her way to the window as if to see it by sure will. She could see nothing, but she knew it was to far away, no what she was seeking was the Element itself.
She had the ability to control Fire. With any luck she could put it out. Then her heart froze in her chest. Yes it was fire, but not a natural fire. Nothing her body recognized. It seemed to burn hotter and faster than she had ever felt before. It was wild and untameable. She gasped and turned towards the Steward and her King, Quickly she ran past them into the hall, down the corridor and on her way to the wall. She knew they would be along shortly, if she waited around to be told what to do she never would have been made the captain of the crimson brigade.

Merick.” She sent the thought out to her great companion.

I’m here now my lady. We are gathering at the wall. When the King gets here we are going to move within the forest. Careful love, the fire is not natural.” He sent the needless warning, for he knew how much the woman loved fire and it her.

"I know." she growled back at him, continuing on her way.

(I too will edit anything you would like.)

L'Ange was walking in the Castle corridors when she turned a corner and saw a man run by shouting "Fire!" The man ran past her, but never got to the other side of the hall, as he was halted by L'Ange's arm, gripping his tightly.

"What fire?" She asked. The man looked like he was pannicking of some sort, but relaxed when L'Ange had loosend he grip a bit.

"My lady, the Dark Forest, it is on fire!" He said and shouted at the same time.

L'Ange looked at him, looking to see if he was lieing or not. All she saw was fear and honesty.

"Are there any orders?"

"Yes, there is a gathering at the staircase of the wall, you are all to be there now."

L'Ange nodded and told him to go back to his duties, while letting go of his arm and he was off. She soon was off too, seeting for the direction of the staircase of the wall. As she took a jog down there, she saw the Crimson Brigade, Lady Gwyndara making a run for the staircase, she followed suite.

Argyros shifted into her wolfen form, and followed her nose to the base of the wall where people were gathering. A fire loomed on the other side, within the Dark Forest. She was their to help. She shifted back into her human form, startling a few people, but not enough to cause a problem and waited as others trickled to their group.

As the group assembled at the wall, a massive shadow over took the Castle, and moved away. The onlooker turning to see what was going on saw a sight, as a colossal sized stone lobster flew over there heads.

It was moving quickly, and its direction was towards the great lake near the Castle. L’Ange knew of the object as she had once been within the bowels of the structure, as it was the Archmagi’s Ship, the Entente’.

As seconds turned into minutes, the King soon arrived atop his winged Clydesdale horse. He lept easily off of the mounts back, and wore the regalia all those had come accustomed to.

“We will scout out and see what the source of this fire is, Sgt Tussaud is rallying additional forces, and will direct them when assembled. I have ordered Captain Christophers to assist, and he is going to the lake to fill the Entente’s cargo holds with water. Lets go, people.”

The King returned, and mounted his winged steed, and spurred him on towards the gatehouse and beyond. The horse stayed upon the ground, and the path was followed into the Dark Forest, the King soon slowed his horse, and decided that discretion was best, and let L’Ange take point and lead the way.

L'Ange saw the King slow down and asked her to take lead, as she did. Soon she was infront of the pack and started leading the way through the trees. Atop the trees, you could see black smoke, indicating where the fire was. Still running, she decided to jump on the tree branches, hopping from one to the other, not losing sight of the King or his officers. While jumping, she noticed on the ground several animals that were fleeing towards the water, not olny on the ground, but also in the air. Deciding not to get in their path, she turned a bit to just pass beside the animals, and not through. Still making way to the fire and jumping through the trees, the others not too far from her on the ground were quickly getting to the designated place. Soon, she had stopped, meer meters away from the fire.

"Here we are, my lord." She quickly bowed and took her place behind him. Watching what he would do next.

(Sorry it took a while to post, been very busy at work.)

The King surveyed the lands. There the serpent like trail of fire could be seen consuming the forest. The King dispite his gifts could not see any cause for the fire.

"We need to scout around closer and see what might of caused this fire. Its not natural and I can at least tell that."

The King spun his horse about to face the four that had come with him.

"I want you four to head down there and look around. Stay as a group. I will remain up here, and be your eyes to watch your backs. I will also direct Christophers, and bring the Crimson Brigade when they arrive. Any questions?"
