Xanthus's new grown frame trogged through the thickest parts of the forest, a lingering scent pulled him there. A'nala, she'd been on his mind since they'd first met. And now her fading scent was leading him on a while goose chase into the forest.
His golden mane gleamed in the faint sunlight the fell through the branches of the trees, he'd found out that he must speak with the new Queen of pridelands to be allowed to rejoin his family. He wanted to ask A'nala what her thoughts of joining him were, which is why he found himself following her scent.

A'nala, opened her eyes slowly, at the light streaming in throughout the forest. She was sprawled across the ground, before she realized that a whole day had passed from .. what? She racked her brain trying to remember, when a queasy feeling entered the bottom of her stomach. She had met with.. Tego, the leopard and he had.. She closed her eyes briefly contemplating what this would mean for her future.
Suddenly, she smelled something.. familiar to her. It couldnt be Xanthus, could it? Her heart dropped. "I have to.. " She whirled around quickly, to see if there was someplace to escape to. Her heart sunk, as she heard him stepping closer and closer to where she stood. There wasnt enough time to hide from him. Shaking herself out, she hoped she looked presentable.

Slowly his bulky frame broke its way into the opening of where she stood, the sunlight danced over her coat. He smiled, as he padded towards her, hoping she would reconize him with all this new mane grown in.
"A'nala.." He said as he paused in front of her, she looked beautiful to him. "I hoped I might find you." He replied, another scent caught his attention, he sniffed the air, glancing around for a moment.

A'nala, momentarily surprised, grinned. "You've grown, havent you Xanthus?" As a instinctive reaction, she set out to greet him before pulling back. Her surprise hadnt lasted for long -- before she remembered what had happened.
She jerked back from Xanthus, as if his touch would burn her. She was filthy now, and ruined. Noticing his sniff, she stammered ".. I j-just killed some prey last night, and finished it off before you came here." Her green eyes clouded, now dim.
"I'm afraid you caught me at a bad time. I .. had a meeting with somebody today." her sotmach, disturbed, as she felt sick. The lies had slipped so easily out.

As she drew back from him, his brows knit together, He glanced around, there was nothing that showed of a kill, or its remains.
"Yea, I have a bit.." He replied absent mindedly, he watched her. Something was off, something happened..And she was hiding it. He felt a bit hurt, but he shook his head. "Oh..Alright. Hmm." He wanted to tell her about what he'd found out, but now...it seemed as if she were to busy.
His head dropped a little bit, "Well, it was nice to see you again A'nala.." He said before turning away. "Hopefully I'll get to see you again."

A'nala's eyes darkened. He knew that she was lying. Her fur took on a dull look to it -- as if she had aged 100 years and no longer had anything to live for. At the moment, that was exactly how she felt.
"I have a feeling that you wont." She said under her breath, after he had turned away. She wouldnt see him again, leave him a chance to find someone better than her. She could've had a chance .. if not for the events that happened a mere hours before.
She felt something salty trickle to her mouth, as she realized that those were tears. Severel dropped to the ground, dampening it, as she turned away aruptly, and fled the forest.

His ears slightly flattened against his head, He'd never felt so helpless, or unwanted. He sighed, he glanced back at her for a moment. "I..." He only shook his head and padded away, he didnt know what to say..
He was quite smitten with her, but if she...he only closed his eyes as the distance between them grew. She was too good for him. And they both knew it.
