After her bout with a lioness at the lion side of the graveyard, Mafa had made a hastey come back to her home. The female she had spoke to, a sibling to Runai, didn't know where she was. Hell, if his own family was unable to track him down, what chance did Mafa stand. Ever since their last stand-off in the graveyard, Mafa had been trying to find Rune. She wasn't exactly sure why, but she felt she needed to see him. The question of why she didn't kill him to start was still buzzing in her head. And she had still not found an answer.

Trudging along the dusty wasteland, a cloud of dust rose around the gray female, leaving a trail of the dust rising into the air in her wake. Pausing for a moment to glance around her, Mafa shook her head, and simply kept going. If anyone was to find her, she'd say she was patroling the boarders, but the truth of the matter was, she was going to find that rat if it took all day.

Lucky for Mafa, she wouldn't be needing to search all day for Runai. In fact, he happened to be wandering her way at that very moment. The graveyard was only so large, and the male had assumed he'd spend the remainder of his own day trying to track that stupid Mafa down.

Not only lucky for Mafa, but oh. Lucky for Runai. As his eyes scanned around for any sorts of motions in the distance, those beady black eyes finally took notice of something.. a grey sort of something. Mmn. Another moron lurking around in his territory? Heh.

With the blink of an eye Rune was off at a sprint, despite that it wasn't.. as fast as it used to be. Damn that little limp. It could be worse, but hey. Why not complain.

As he stepped closer and closer, lips curled up into a snarl while he prepared to leap. He'd make sure this pesky idiot didn't wander around his home anymore. It wasn't until he got closer that he noticed that it was Mafa. Debating stopping, the adult decided against it. He wanted that reaction.

Mafa had kept walking, slowing every time she got near a gaping elephant skull, or a decieving shadow, turning her head that way to inspect what it was hiding. So far, she'd found a lone vulture. Definitely not what she was looking for. But, being her persistant self, Mafa wasn't about to give up just yet.

But it seemed the fates were on her side today. Not long after, a low, rhythmic thumping sound made itself clear. Whatever was running her way had a very specific gait, as it thudded along, the thuds were interrupted, as if the creature was limping. Maf grinned maliciously. Who else? The snarl reached her ears as the beast grew near. Now being able to focus on the figure, Mafa's suspisions were confirmed. It was definitely Runai. As he charged at her, Mafa tensed her muscles, skittering from his direct path,

"Well, well! Never thought you'd show up"

It was a pity that Rune had missed just because Mafa decided she'd duck out the way. It annoyed him that she wouldn't just stand there and take it. But what annoyed him even worse? She was in /his/ territory. Not the other way around.

With a loud growl rising from his throat, the male spun on heel, allowing him to face the hyena. "Never thought I'd show up? I LIVE here, y'idiot." He spoke, clearly grumpy and irritated. None the less, he stated the obvious. Continueing, Rune narrowed his eyes on the ugly creature. "What the hell're you doing here? Go back to your spit of territory over there."

Perhaps he was grumpy from the last stand off with Mafa, where she refused to take a hit at him, or perhaps he had just woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Either which way, he wasn't feeling to pleasent.

"Why're you still standing here?" He asked impatiently, frowning while his glare bore into Mafa's figure.

"Sorry, I live here, you, you simply are intruding."

Her tone was a vicious, biting one, just who did he think he was? This lion was just as dumb as all the others, why she couldn't bring herself to kill him, she didn't know.

"If you had even an ounce of grey matter in that head of yours, you'd know what this is my side of the graveyard, and you are in it. Well... Actually, there is no argument at all, as this whole graveyard belongs to me. No matter where you step, you're on my ground."

Mafa lowered her head, glowering at the lion. Runai wasn't his usual mocking, childish self, he seemed a bit more disgruntled. Not that she cared, of course. Scoffing, Mafa shook her head arrogantly to Rune's question. Fine, he'd asked for it, a talk was not on the menu today, it seemed. Without further warning, Mafa ran at Runai's side, zigzagging her way as she charged over. Muscles tense and jaws poised, she'd latch onto any flesh she'd come near.

Rune scowled while she spoke. Fine. She wanted to play that game? The adult took a paw and scraped it across the ground between the pair, making a clear straight line amidst the bones and dust on the terrain floor.

"Fine. If you want to be stupid about it, that side's yours, this side's mine. There." He responded, still frowning. However at her next comment, the adult only growled. "So it all belongs to /you/?" He huffed, sounding much like the Maziko's. He instantly regretted it, considering that he hardly considered himself a piece of their pie.

Unfortunately with his mind in places where the didn't necessarily need to be, Mafa was already on the move. By the time he'd snapped from his blank glare, he'd hardly had any time to hop out of reach, let alone sidestep. Before he could even blink the girl had latched onto his shoulder, and a quick, searing pain ripped through his leg and back.

At least he was in a worse mood than usual; only more fuel to his anger.

His head turned towards the hyena with a roar and a snarl, wasting little to no time in trying to find something of his own to bite into. Talk was cheap anyhow.

Upon impact, Mafa we immediately satisfied. Soft flesh gave way between her teeth, warm blood oozed into her mouth. Something a little short of heaven. But, Mafa didn't let this new sense of pleasure weaken her or her grip on the beast. Quite the opposite. The longer she sat attached to Runai, the harder she bit down. She could feel the scalpula right beneath her top jaw, the hard bone preventing her from simply biting his leg off. Given enough time, however, and she'd snap the sturdy plate. Still not letting go, Mafa pulled her head back, a sick satisfaction pulsing through her as she felt ligaments and tendons give way beneath her jaws. Tissue tore. Capillaries burst. He was at her will.

But, this didn't last but half a minute, as Rune had already launched his counter. Piercing feline teeth shred through the meat on her side, pointy fangs burrowing into the space between her ribs. The female's eyes flared in pain, but she was determined to inflict as much damage as she possibly could. She wanted to back away, try him at a different angle, but he had a hold on her, and any sharp movements might just result in the annihilation of that section of her rib cage. Deciding against that, Mafa let go of the gushing shoulder, her jaws now ready to clamp down lower on the lion's leg.

Rune's jaw clamped shut even tighter on the hyena's side as an instinct reaction to the pain in his shoulder, back, and leg. With the ligaments and muscle underneath his shoulderblade pretty well ruined for the time being, as far as being usable. It was a pity. He'd need that if he wanted to have any sort of avoiding oncoming attacks.

With a bit of relief, however, Mafa had let go, although he had no doubts that she'd pinpoint something else to latch. Despite the fact that she had let go, however, the male seemed rather intent to cling to her side. Whether he just.. wanted to or just couldn't will his jaw to open, Rune stood, roughly beginning to shake his head from side to side starting a few seconds after she'd released him, hardly caring what it damaged so long as it damaged /something/. As long as it didn't kill her.

Although.. something just had to be done before Mafa thought it'd be a good idea to find the other shoulder or something along those lines. He needed everything intact on himself, otherwise it tended to make life difficult. Perhaps..

Finally finding the need to release the hyena, Rune's jaw unlocked and pulled away, although his figure slammed sideways at the girls figure. Maybe.. just a quick knock over..

Mafa felt ribs crack as Runai shook his head, teeth still attached to her side. Immediately, she abandoned the leg and lashed out to her side, trying to bite down on the lion, but only coming away with mouthfulls of his thick mane. Mafa bit down on fur again, coming away with a mouthful of it, but this time, Rune had let go of her too.

Alas, before she could move to a different angle, a heavy, blunt impact hit her on her ailing side. Mafa let out a wheeze as the large lion shoved into her, the air being forced out of her lungs as she slammed into the ground. There was no time to catch her breath and stand, it would take simply too long. Runai was hovering above her, she was concious enough to figure that, so she kept her chin down near her chest, protecting her neck from a fatal attack.

As she regained proper breathing, she lashed out with her back legs. She held her paws out and tight, dull, dirty claws aimed to scratch at Runai's underbelly, or where ever she was able to hit.

Well. He was now missing a bit of mane. Although he could worry more about that later. Glad that he'd at least managed to stop her attacks for a few seconds, Rune took a those few precious seconds to regain his own breath and posture, meanwhile not even daring to take a glance at his chewed up shoulder.

With Mafa down even long than he'd expected, he'd begun to hobble closer(not that she was far away to begin with). Hmph. And she'd already started to protect that key spot. Psh. As he moved even closer, those stupid legs of hers. With one or to quick kicks from her back limbs, several scratches appeared across the side of his stomach. He withdrew with a low growl, however quickly took his own swipe at her with his own.

"Stupid hyena," He added through gritted teeth. He'd win this one. She'd ruined his leg previously, but oh. It was his turn.

The kicks and scratches had kept Rune back for long enough a period as to where Mafa was able to catch up with her breath. Lungs now filling and emptying as per usual, Mafa scrambled up, Runai's claws hitting her on the flank as she did so. Barely grazing the meat beneath her skin, Mafa didn't take these wounds into any kind of consideration.

The female backed up slightly, pacing about a few steps. There was a limp to her step, as she was bent more towards her left side, the side where the puncture wounds were. It was painful, but Mafa grit her teeth. She'd be fine.

Giving herself a split second to think, Mafa was off and charging once more. This time, as she approached Rune, she lept up, jaws aimed at latching onto his back.

Rune, once again, had hardly any time to contemplate the situation as Mafa charged for a second time. How she still wanted to move was beyond him. He was.. pretty well stuck moving wise.. couldn't go very fast, both of his front legs were screwed. One with the limp, the other with a ruined shoulder. What good was that?

Given another second the hyena had already leapt onto his backside, jaws closing onto the thick muscle lining his spine. With an enraged roar and more pain seeping throughout his system, the adult's head swung around, trying to grab at one of the hyenas legs. If.. he could just get his jaw around one.. maybe he could snap it, slow her down if he chucked her off. Not likely, but he could try.

By now his shoulder and fur surrounding was soaked with a gooey red substance, which had already begun to seep down his front leg as gravity pulled it downward through his fur. Blood loss would get to his head soon, although temporarily headed off by the adrenaline rushing through his veins.

Contact. And how sweet it tasted. Mafa's strong teeth ground into Runai's tender back, her claws latching onto his side to keep stability. The roar of pain that the lion had let out only urged Mafa further. He had wanted to die. He came to her and didn't even try to run. If that wasn't a death wish, she didn't know what was.

As Mafa clenched her jaws tighter, fangs working their way through the muscle and to the bone of Rune's spine, which she planned to crush, she was thinking. Did she really want to kill him? It wasn't clear in her mind, but for some reason, she wanted this lion alive. But why him? Why not some other lion?

No. It was pointless. She'd kill him.

Mafa's teeth finally hit the bone of the vertebrae. There it was, the final step, Rune was a goner. But as she was about to bite down, something that for some reason she hadn't expected happened. Sharp feline teeth dug into the soft flesh of her back leg, piercing through it rapidly and effortlessly. Without another thought, Mafa let go of Rune's spine and whipped herself around to Rune's neck and head, teeth and front claws lashing out at whatever was closest. She had to dislodge him from her leg. No way was she going to let him damage one of her limbs.

Silently rejoicing her relieving her jaws from his spine, Rune pulled even more focus on snapping that ugly, thin leg of hers. He needed to. At this point it was more a question of survival than anything else. Something needed to be damaged.

Despite what Mafa had hoped would happen, however, Rune's grip only tightened as she'd begun to scratch and lash at his face and head. Determined to keep his hold and meanwhile keep himself somewhat protected from the onslaught of claws, the adults head began to shake back and forth violently. Whether it was an attempt to dodge the hyena's attacks or an attempt to pull, break and damage Mafa's hind limb , Rune persisted in keeping his mouth on that back leg of hers. It was his now. ( XD Mineminemine! 8D )

Unfortunately, this did little hope to protect him against those stupid paws of hers, and continuous flesh wounds appeared as mild gashes across his muzzle and head, and his persistance was wearing thin.

So she wanted to kill him, hmn? Fine. Two could play at this game.

(( Laaaaaame post from me. =D Cuz. I don't know what to put. XD And. And. Yea. ))

Mafa's dull and dirty claws dug into the shallow skin of Rune's face, gashing up that handsome mug of him rather nicely. But this didn't alieviate any of the pain from her leg, in fact, it just got worse. Who was the stubborn, lock jawed hyena here, Mafa, or Rune? From the situation at this point, it seemed Rune was winning the title.

As far as Mafa was concerned, as long as it was still attached, that leg was her rightful property, and anything Mafa hated more was someone messing with her property. And a lion at that.

Blocking out the pain that was grinding through her back leg, Mafa threw her whole self into an attack on this lion. As she was still perched on his upper back, she had slim pickings on what to grab onto. A lunge at his neck from this angle would result in a mouthful of fur, not much damage. Letting out a feral grunt, Mafa stabbed her paw into the wound she had previously created on his back, digging into the already gaping flesh. And to go with that, she set her jaws on ripping open a new hole on Runai's shoulder blade. She was desperate, she was sure her leg couldn't hold out too much longer under the pressure of his damn teeth.
