(( Love Ahali's hugeimageness, I command thee <3 <3 *was just too lazy to resize a bit* ))

Large paws crushed a few twigs in the shade of a tree as the lion who owned them stretched out and got up. It was late afternoon now, the sun was giving everyone a relief, and to him, this was great. Not only did the former firekin have a large mane, his fur was dark colored; the sun beat down on him whenever it was high in the sky, so usually, whenever it was, he just found shade and took a nap, like many others might do. This time, he had sort of overslept, but late afternoon wasn't so bad.

He opened his mouth, as if unable to keep it closed, a wide yawn coming on, baring sharp teeth for a few moment, then closing, almost as if with effort, as if the yawn was hard to break. He blinked his orange-red eyes and looked around the land. At one side, it was darker as night was reaching them, but as a lion, he had no name for the direction, or he did, but Ahali had never bothered keeping much track of that. he walked in directions, thats what mattered,

Ahali'bagawa shook out his mane, which was damp with sweat from the heat, and flat and uncomfortable from being pressed against ground and tree. He let his eyes fall on the shape of the dark lioness beside him, twitching his tail tip. He'd forgotten he had company.

"Afu, " He said, nudging her side with his nose. "Are you awake? " A striped tail, almost matching with his mane swished over the ground, lifting dust and a few fallen leaves from the tree, that hadn't already been blown away by the wind.

The dark lioness wasn't, in fact, and she hadn't even noticed Ahali's arrival. It was a good thing she trusted him, and she hoped that her senses had registered 'friend' and let her sleep, otherwise she might have awoken very unpleasantly.

As it is, her eyes dart open, narrowing until her brain catches up with the voice, and her terse muscles relax. She raises her head slowly, looking less like a cat and more like a snake that's boding it's time to strike. But the feline's muzzle curves into a smile as she looks around to the male she met in the midst of the storm. "Mm," she responds to his question, stretching and inhaling deeply, before taking a better look at her companion. He was very large, and her first impression of him was more brawn than brain. But she wondered if she should rethink that: he was quiet, certainly, but that didn't necessarily mean stupidity. After all, some of her siblings had blabbed incessently, and that didn't mean they were particularly intelligent.

She gets to her haunches, idly grooming the back of a paw, then setting it down. "It's getting close to hunting-time," she says, flicking her dark tail and looking about.

So she had been asleep, not just laying there. He flicked his ears, eying her for a moment, then taking a few paces away, looking further out along the land. It was plain, like any savanna could be expected to be. Termite and ant mounds poked out of the sand, a few slight hills here and there, and some trees. That was the savanna for you, and it was boring.

"Hunting? " He turned his head, looking towards the lioness again, ears towards her. The lion blinked, was he hungry enough to want to eat? He found if you weren't hungry enough it could not be worth the effort. "I guess so. Do you know if there are buffalo around? "

She rolls her shoulders back into a shrug; she's moody this afternoon, and trying not to show it. "I'm not sure, but we'd probably have a better chance if we headed toward a watering hole...more of a variety of prey." Trouble is, she doesn't know these lands very well, and finding a waterhole might be difficult, unless they can get somewhere up high and see the lay of the land. She looks around in disdain, flicking a black tail in rapidly-rising annoyance. Flat savannah, all flat.

She really hates to admit it, even to herself, but there is one thing she misses about being with Nyekundu: having a pride. Afu doesn't, in fact, mind hunting: she enjoys the exercise and the chance to show off her skills. But life, in general, was easier, and she knew the lands and the herds, despite the ruggedness of the desert. Here, she's just another rogue, mercy to the elements and whatever Lady Luck decided to throw at her. She needed her own lands again, she was born to be more than this.

She frowned, and turned to the male. "Where are you going to, Ahali? I mean after all this..." She shrugs and looks around. "You can't honestly want to wander around for the rest of your life."

He didn't know this place well either, how wonderful. The lion snorted to himself, settling onto his haunches, turining towards Afu. He flicked his tail, resting the furry tuft on a hind paw. "I suppose. " Ahali didn't usually hunt at watering holes. With or without there heads down, it was harder to sneak up on, as everyone crowded around the water. One alarm, and everything ran, as hunters and prey never drank together, at least, not at the same side of the water.

He flicked his ear quietly as a bird noisily made its way to roost in the tree, making room in the sky for the bats. But it twitched again as the dark lioness spoke, and he fixed his attention on her. "I don't know. I've wandered ever since I got away from that blasted desert. I never planned anything else. Why do you want to know? " Nosy nosy female. At least she wasn't bad like others he'd met. Actually, she was perhaps even pleasant.

... still nosy.
