Welcome to the Aymara General Discussion! This is where we discuss everything related to the Aymara language, including, but not limited to:

-asking specific questions about Aymara vocabulary and grammar (people who can speak Aymara fluently can help answer others' questions)
-recommendations for Aymara dictionaries, websites, etc
-and everything else about the beautiful language, Aymara!

Please note that although speaking in Aymara is allowed here, it is not mandatory.

Let's start off with a few facts about the Aymara language:

Spoken in: Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Argentina.

Total number of speakers: First language: About 2,227,000
Second language:
Language Family: Aymaran

I have just recently learned about this language and immediately fell in love with it. o_o

Is it similar to Spanish or..?

Nooo, not at all. sweatdrop

It's a polysynthetic native American language that's not close to Spanish at all. It's closer to Quechua, but it's still not related to that.
