Ok me having got in touch with my iner demon yesterday I was listening to a lot of AC/DC , and I was listening to Highway to Hell. Well thinking back to books I've read , I remeber this one Book stairway to hell . Is hell Just like a highway once you get started you can turn back , or once you get going traffic keeps you in check. It just kinda made me wonder.Like think if one of your friends or something trys to make you start doing drugs or something , Once you start down that path Either A.You are forced into addiction , or B.Your friends keep you doing it until you are in A.Idunno I was just wanting to talk this over with some of you guys , maybe could help me understand a little better.

Once you are in hell, there is no turning back, but as long as you are alive and still are capable of going back to Jesus, you can always turn back from sin. Addiction is very hard to break, and almost impossible without help in some cases. The reason we are to try to avoid sin is to prevent terrible things like those kind of addictions. Also, peer pressure doesn't help and if they are trying to get you to do something against your morals, they are not being good friends. Just stick to what is right, even if you have to avoid your friends while they are acting that way. Hope this helps.

The song is about living the night life and the view ost peopel had on the Rock and Roll life style at that time.
Staying out late = sin Drinking with your friends = sin Playing your music loud = sin dancing = sin Driving to fast = sin Flirting with girls = sin
So according to the common knowledge of the time... they were indeed on the "Highway to Hell."
Lyrics: Living easy, living free ---Self explained Season ticket on a one-way ride Asking nothing, leave me be Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme Ain't nothing I would rather do Going down, party time My friends are gonna be there too ---Partying BIG sin there
I'm on the highway to hell No stop signs, speed limit ---Breaking the law Nobody's gonna slow me down Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me round Hey Satan, payed my dues Playing in a rocking band ---Rock and Roll = devils music Hey Momma, look at me I'm on my way to the promised land
I'm on the highway to hell (Don't stop me) And I'm going down, all the way down I'm on the highway to hell
I saw the interview of AC/DC when they came out of retirement and they and almost every rock and roll band at the time used references to hell and demons for normals things to get teens to buy their album. Kids wanted to rebel against the old way of thinking and what better way than listening to controversial music real loud?
AC/DC made that song just for the "Hell" of it... As in the amount of heads it would turn and the amount of talk that would happen over just the album name. Like I stated earlier they were just repeating what other said about them in that song.

O OK now I get it so basically they were making a song about what other people wanted to hear so they could sell , other words pulicity(sp?) ?

Yep... that is about right... but they were also going along with what the christian community said about them...
Basically you it like someone tells you that what you are doing is the wrong way and the next time they come around they ask "what are you doing" and you reply "doing it the wrong way" ... Ok that sounded stupid but you get my point right.
Or someone says your're a jerk and you say "yep."

Yeah, there are times when I love the beat to many songs and the way it sounds, but at the same time, I listen to the lyrics and hate it xp . So to counter that, I listen to and love hearing Christian metal bands like Holy Soldier, Stryper, White Cross, Petra, and Bloodgood. I remember Petra sang a song (might've been a cover) where the refrain was, "God gave rock and roll to you." smile

I agree with most of what you guys are saying, but one thing I'm not quite sure about. Not all rock 'n' roll is the devil's music. I really do think that AC/DC is because of what they sing about, but some rock 'n' roll isn't bad right? If they sing about, not nessisary Christain stuff, but stuff that's not really sinfull, isn't that ok? Example:
"Savin' Me" Nickelback
Prison gates won't open up for me On these hands and knees I'm crawlin' Oh, I reach for you Well I'm terrified of these four walls These iron bars can't hold my soul in All I need is you Come please I'm callin' And oh I scream for you Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'
[Chorus:] Show me what it's like To be the last one standing And teach me wrong from right And I'll show you what I can be Say it for me Say it to me And I'll leave this life behind me Say it if it's worth saving me
Heaven's gates won't open up for me With these broken wings I'm fallin' And all I see is you These city walls ain't got no love for me I'm on the ledge of the eighteenth story And oh I scream for you Come please I'm callin' And all I need from you Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'
[Chorus]
Hurry I'm fallin'
All I need is you Come please I'm callin' And oh, I scream for you Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin', I'm fallin'
[Chorus]
Hurry I'm fallin'
I'm not quite sure what message they're trying to put out, but I don't think it's bad....

The singer is basically saying the the person he is singing to (most likely a girl) is the one that could change his life for the better and bring him back for his current state and he would change his life... Nickelback's lead singer isn't the type to talk about God... now if this was Creed I would defiantly say it was asking for God's help.
Also alot of Rock and roll will have a momentary shout out for God... even Metallica has cried out to God in songs... sincere or not I like to hear it.

I guess that makes sense, but isn't it alright if you don't think the same as the lyrics. Like you sorta give them you're own meaning in a way. That's kind of how I've been thinking of this song, because it's one of my favorites.

One of the things that makes humans so great is our ability to see a different perspective. I analyze to much... Of course it is ok to see your own meaning... the meaning that you feel.
