Large imageShe had tried it, she had desperately tried it, but she could not fool herself any longer.
Ivie missed her mother and she missed her brother and all she wanted was to see them again. She was just not ready for a life of her own and she definately didn't want to never see her family again.
She truly was a mummy's girl through and through!
So here she was, somehow winding her way across the country as far as she could go. Looking for it's edge where the so-called Big-water lay. Here the air smelt funny, almost like tears with it's salty bite. Yet there was something comforting about it. Something that gave her hope.
The young seer paused mid-step and gazed around, glad that her journey here had been uneventful. No rogues to bother her, no evil hyenas to snap at her.
She had - for the most part - been alone.
Yet now was where she wanted that to end.
For with the coming of the end of her journey Ivie'lingwa desperately wished for company. A friendly face who could give directions and give her word of mother and brother.
She gave a small chuffing sound. A greeting perhaps to those who might have been close by.

ImageRengu was bored. Sprawled out on the white sand, he stared blankly at the ceaseless waves, his tail flicking idly behind him. What he was looking at would truly be a timeless scene to any newcomer. The waves broke upon the shore in an almost melodic rhythm, the pristine sky harbored fluffy clouds, and the distant call of gulls added to the calmness of the coast. It was beautiful.
And that was exactly why Rengu was bored. He had seen it all before and heard it all before. Heaving a sigh, the young lion slowly crawled to his paws, the thought of wandering further up, away from the shore, having entered his mind. It would be slightly different, at least. But not too far. One never knew what dangers lay ahead.
His paws making tattoos in the soft sand, Rengu advanced, the beach to his back. His eyes searching and his ears seeking, Rengu attempted to stay alert, not wanting to be caught offguard by a stranger. He knew others had been journeying to his homeland lately and some had even joined the pride. Quite frankly, he was still rathery wary of the whole lot. If onl-
It was then that Rengu heard the sound. His ears flicking wildly for another sound, Rengu spoke, though his muscles were tensed if the need to run arose. "W-who's there?"

Her ears twitched forth and as the voice reached them she gave a small jump backwards. Her paws were like springs and instantly she was cowering back.
"H-hello?" She tilted her head towards the stranger and blinked her vibrant green eyes, searching his face for any sign of a threat.
When she saw there was none she visibly relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh! Um...I'm Ivie'lingwa! Pleased to meet you..." She trailed off, leaving the silence for him to fill in his name.

At her jump, Rengu himself was startled and gave a small yelp, his face a picture of terror. Ambush! Mouth agape, the young lion dug his claws into the ground beneath his paws, seemingly frozen to the spot. So much for running if he needed to. He was going to be attacked any second, he just knew.
At her greeting, Rengu finally turned to look clearly upon the one who had scared him. Instantly, he felt foolish and cowardly. It was neither a group of ambushers or anyone who looked as if they wanted to harm him. It was a young lioness, though older than Rengu himself by the looks of her.
It took a few seconds for it to register in Rengu's mind the she had introduced herself, his mind distracted by the fright he had just received. "M-my name's Rengu," he finally managed to reply, relaxing his own stance. She seemed nice enough. "It's n-nice to meet you, too." At least he had managed to remember his manners!
A few silent seconds passed before Rengu voiced the first question that popped into his mind. "Where are you f-from?" Not from around the coast, obviously. Perhaps she had thoughts of joining the pride, such as the others from far off places? Or was she just a visitor, like the desert-dweller Rengu had recently met?

Her smile widened as the younger lion gave his name and took the smallest of steps forward, lowering her head so she didn't seem as big.
She wasn't the largest lioness you might see. Her muscles were not as developed as perhaps they should be, giving her an almost frail yet feminine look. There was no extra fat on her form, defining her body that gleamed with pale green fur.
She couldn't hunt, in fact she had never hunted in her life. That was the problem of being a seer who saw terrifying images of the past, present and future with a single touch. She feared her power and avoided it at every cost, yet that meant hunting was out of the question and getting close to anyone for that matter.
However, she still had lots of love to offer and it was this love that had led her here, across the lands to where the sea stretched endlessly for miles.
"You have a lovely name!" She replied, "I'm from a place called the Pridelands, it's far from here but...it's not my home anymore...you see...my family moved away. My mother and brother. I thought I could stay behind and live without them but I can't. I love them too much. I heard they headed for the sea...that's why I'm here."
She paused then continued, "are you one of the lions who live here?"

Rengu felt himself tensing up again as she moved forward. Not that he was afraid of her, but it seemed almost instinct to want to get away from something that was nearing him. But he didn't have to worry this time, did he? Arg, he was such a coward! Scared of a girl! And a small one at that!
"T-thank you. Your name is nice, too" he said in response to the compliment, smiling slightly. "The Pridelands? I t-think I've heard of that before...Why did your family move away?" He peered at her with questioning blue eyes, genuinely curious. He didn't think he would ever leave his home and he didn't really know why someone would want to leave theirs.
At her question, the young lion nodded, the thick hair atop his head waving loosely. "Yep. My mother and father r-rule the pride. Though I haven't m-met all of the newcomers yet, so I don't know if your mother and brother are here or n-not...We could go see?"

She nodded and smiled, trying her best to ignore his nervousness. If she tried to act normal around him then hopefully his confidence would grow, and she didn't want to hurt his feelings with comments on his lack of courage.
He seemed the sweet and sensitive type and she did not want to be responsible for damaging his confidence further.
"I think my parents had an argument. I've not seen daddy for a long time. I think mummy wanted to escape bad memories so she wanted to find a new place. A place where she could create happy memories." She nodded happily, glad that her mother was not going to dwell on unhappy things. "At first I didn't want to leave my home, but then I decided that home is where your family is...so I came to find them."
She flicked her golden-tipped tail and smiled, "then you're a prince? Wow I've never met royalty before! Do I have to bow or something?" She shifted slightly and giggled. "I'd love it if you could help me find them! I've been rather lonely and perhaps your nose can sniff out strange scents on the lands?" She bounced, somewhat excitedly on the spot.
