apparently there is a competetion between these 2 albums for the coveted title of best Thrash Metal Album of all Time...
first, in it's home field, Metallica's Master of Puppets. most call the album it's breakthrough album...and why not? it's one of their best in my opinion. and Metallica blew up after that...
and second is Slayer's Reign in Blood, which was also, their breakthrough album, while song length is cut to very short lengths (Necrophobic clocks in at a measly 1:40!) Slayer makes up for it by making all of there songs Feral, Frantic, and Ferocious.
so which do u prefer? and please don't just vote for Metallica because this topic is in it's home territory.

I love MOP because It had power without being overthetop, and I loved the lyrical concept of "Control". I like slayer, but I do not think that that was their best album. I liked Christ Illusion better. cheese_whine

I love MOP cos its the best album Metallica have ever done, it made them, awesome from start to finish!!! Although I like Slayer ROB just doesnt do it for me like MOP does plain and simple its the best thrash metal album of ALL time

Reign in Blood is a good album, dont get me wrong but I just tend to like Metallicas style more than Slayers. Its just that when I first listened to Reign in Blood it kind of scared me, I was alot younger and its just that fact that its so sinister and evil. I love it now though. Lol. Master of Puppets I have known for a long time, my dad used to make me listen to it when I was like 4, he'd crank the album and make me listen to Sanitarium like 7000 times, I still love it. biggrin

For me It's no compitition though raining blood was good master of puppets was amazing metallica changed metal with that album.

Personally I don't categorize Slayer as being Thrash Metal, more along the lines of Speed Metal. Personally I like Reign in Blood more than Master of Puppets cause I like Kerry King as a guitarist more than Kirk, same with Jeff Hanneman. But also because it was much heavier than Master and the fact that Reign in Blood is credited with somewhat spawning the Death Metal genre (when Chris Barnes formed Cannibal Corpse with Alex Webster they based Eaten Back To Life off of Reign in Blood).
