A young black and white juvenile lioness lay sprawled out in the center of an open space, the jungle stood quite close, but not close enough to shade her body from the sun's raise. She rarely wandered too far away from where she knew her mother and father would be. But, today was an exception, she wanted to be alone to think. She lay quite literally belly up, her chubby white belly protruded and absorbed the welcoming sun, it was the perfect day to think, but unfortunatly it was the perfect napping weather as well.

The little lioness snored quietly, her chest heaving lightly as she slept. Her dreams were mixed with spitting monsters, leopards, and snakes. Creatures that lingered in the dark. Everyonce in a while she would kick her legs as if she were trying to run and let out a low whimper.

Kijibwa was on a mission, for one of the few times in his life, he had something he intended to do and set out to do it. He was looking for his middle daughter, for he and Siku had come to a decision. If he found more than one of his girls, he'd have to ask to speak to Jedi privately because that would not do! The oldest and youngest had too much influence over their sister, and their parents wanted her own opinion.

He was putting his tracking skills to use, since it didn't seem that the girls were anywhere nearby the waterfall today. Lucky for him, there were some footprints and Jedi made some noises while she slept.

"Jeeeeedi," he called out in a hushed voice, trying to find out exactly where she went, "Jeeedi!"

Her snoring stopped abruptly as she started to awaken, "huh?" she whispered and looked around, "stupid, stupid," she patted her forehead, "I was supposed to be thinking not sleeping," she giggled, she liked to play games and talk to herself, but of course she loved to be with her sisters as well. She heared what had startled her awake, daddy was calling!

"I'm over here Daddy!" she rolled over as she spoke and started to stand up while she looked in his general direction. Why is Daddy calling me? Is something wrong? She thought as she started to pad lightly towards her father's voice.

She had an imagination, but nothing that she could run away with, if daddy needed her, then he needed her. There wasn't going to be a problem, because in her mind's eye she could not forsee one...right?

Kiji heard the sounds stop and had to stop for a moment to try to figure out which way it was with means other than his ears. Luckily, it wasn't hard to pick up such a familiar scent and before he could get too lost with that she was calling back to him. He grinned and picked up the pace to get there sooner.

"Jedi!" he called happily when he found her, tripping over a root and falling right over in his delight to have found her. He was obviously excited about something. With a snort and a laugh, he lay on the ground shaking his head, "I found you."

Jedi giggled and trotted over to her father, "You okay?" she butted her head against his shoulder, he seemed very excited and it was catching, she was very excited to see him, as well as see what he wanted. "You sure did find me," she giggled again her soft blue eyes peering at him.

She smirked, Kiji always made her feel better, so much so that her heart swelled with pride. He was like she was, a larger lion and probably not the most intelligent, if she could think of anyone in the world that she would always love it would be Kiji. Sometimes at night she thought of what he world would be like without him and she had to push those thoughts away quickly, the world would be horrible.

Kiji too had to push thoughts of a world without his girls from his mind, even looking at Jedi now. She was more like him than her mother, but she reminded him so much of her and how she was when they first met. He had to make himself forget that they were now as old as Siku had been when he'd taken her off on an adventure. Hopefully if that happened to any of them, they would at least come say goodbye so he could stop them.

"I'm fine," he grinned, and rearranged himself to lay more comfortably on the ground, "I came to talk to you about something important!" His chest puffed out importantly.

"Important? Did sisters try and bully you into something?" she smirked and looked up at her father, "what is it daddy?" she was extremely excited to see her father trying to seem so important, of course he was extremely important to her.

She could see Janja and Ekevu outsmarting her father and tricking him or bullying him into doing something he naturally wouldn't. Although she assumed that her father was a bit smarter than that, it was extremely likely.

"Nonono, of course not," he looked from side to side shiftily, "Your mother did, though." Kiji pretended to frown, but was never a good actor and just ended up laughing at himself.

"Nah, it was all my idea," he admitted with a sigh, "I was talking to your mother about something and we wanted to get all of your opinions, but we need yours first." Kiji said it that way to make her feel extra important, because she certainly was and with sisters like hers it might not happen as often as one would hope.

The little black and white lionesses chest swelled with pride, her oppinion first! Ha! Beat that! her soft blue eyes glittered with anticipation, something she could have imput on, this was going to be good, she could feel it!

"What are you talking about daddy? I can help with anything you need," she gave a childish bob of her head and wrinkled her nose imitating someone that was thinking extremely hard, but the grin across her face was not going to leave her face anytime soon. She ended up looking comical instead of deep in thought...poor girl.

Kiji chuckled happily at Jedi's enthusiasm at their chat. All the better for such an important decision she had to make! He inhaled deeply, trying to build up a little more excitement for what was to come.

"Well, I grew up in this jungle," he started with a short story, "I wasn't born here, but this is where I ended up and where I spent most of my cubhood. I was a bit older than you when I left, and I found where your mother comes from. She didn't grow up in the Jungle, at least not wholly.."

She shifted from foot to foot excitedly looking up at Kiji, her look of..perlexed comedy gone as she waited for him to continue.

"But we will grow in the jungle, wont we? Mommy, me, you, Janja, and Ekevu? We'll grow up where you grew?" She couldn't quite articulate that she wanted to walk in his footsteps, she would someday get to that, but at this moment her little mind wasn't ready to be able to use metaphors or any other figurative speech.

"Wait...where does mum come from?"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 5:53 pm

"That's what I came to talk about," Kiji explained proudly, pleased she seemed to get an idea of where this was going. He inched closer to his daughter before continuing, "Your mother comes from the Pridelands, it's across the desert and it's really different from the Jungle. We were thinking about going back there for a little while, what do you think?"

Her eyes widdened, but only one thing really slipped into her thought process:

"Are they ALL as smart as Janja and Ekevu there..are they daddy?" fear crept into her mind and she assumed there were a hundred lions just like her sisters, smart and ready to make her feels stupid. Somewhere in there she knew that they didn't mean to hurt her feelings, but with siblings there wasn't always going to be a happy medium.

Kiji started at her panic and bluntness when asking what the lions were like in the Pridelands, and had to resist the urge to laugh. It wasn't good that his little girl was worried about others being so smart, but he did find it a bit funny.

"I don't think so," he said, smiling fondly at her, "I didn't meet a whole lot of lions there, and while none of them were stupid, they were not geniuses or anything. Not that Janja and Ekevu are geniuses, but they could well be eventually at the rate they're going." He had to sigh and give a slight eye-roll at that. He'd never have imagined children like the ones he got, but he loved them all and felt very lucky.

"I'd like to see where mommy comes from, do we have any family over there?" she imagined a million copies of Siku all standing in a row, each one with a bright smile like their mother's, "As long as they're not geniuses." She nodded, the fear was still in her head though, what if they all were so smart they made Janja and Ekevu feel bad? Squirming Jedi stepped forward and barried her face in Kiji's chest.

A muffled, "Promise?" crossed her lips and was nearly lost in his fur. She would much rather stay in the Jungle, but why not see a new world, she did enjoy exploring, if not like Janja, more like following daddy and mommy around and staying close to them.
