UkyoKuonji2004 Aw... Another series ruined by name changes xd It was ruined by more than that... think 4Kids deciding to remove even the slightest hints at romance and decided that Sakura was to much of a fraidy-cat, and you've got an idea of the dub. Anyway, I've seen all of the series, so I'll fill in some of the missing characters. Clow Reed Eriol Hiiragizawa / Eli Moon Nakuru Akizuki (a.k.a. Ruby Moon) / Ruby Moon for both forms Spinel Sun / Spinner Sun Yoshiyuki Terada Sonomi Daidouji (I don't think she showed up in the dub) Maki Matsumoto / Maggie (The latter three, especially Maki, are fairly minor. If you left them off, there are probably not a lot of people who would complain. There's also 52 Clow Cards, but that would just be insane. Not to mention that the Mirror and The Nothing are the only ones with much in the way of character development.) Photobucket's refusing to upload right now, so I'll supply some pictures later.

Much Appreciated! I got most of the info from a combination of the series main web site, Answers.com, and Absolute Anime. And if you need to upload pictures, I suggest this site. Image Shack.I’ve noticed that on some other sites pictures will disappear on accession. I haven't had any trouble with this site.

Aka-kage i just don't get why people change the names of characters when they dub it...it's just so wrong... Well there are several possibilities: -It's the same name, but a different pronunciation or spelling. This is really common since Japanese and English have different characters and translations aren't always perfect. The most common I've seen is R/L, B/V, and an extra U. Think Raito/Light and Kyouya/Kyoya. This one is fine, as the name can typically be translated a number of ways. It's nice if they stick to the official romanizations, though. -The dubbing company decides that's, for some reason, the names need changing. The most common is probably that they decide that the names need to sound more American, or that the original names sounded odd. Shinichi/Jimmy, Ichigo/Zoey, etc. In CCS' case, it was the latter. Anything having to do with Japan was pretty much edited out, so all of the names were changed. As I said earlier, though, it was ruined by a lot more than name changes. They pretty much tried to make a shojo series appeal to boys, and that involes a LOT of re-writing. Plus, most, if not all, character development, and all relationships, were cut out of the series. The show's strongest quality is it's character development, so that effectively killed it. And even though CCS has some pretty crazy pairings, it's difficult to edit them out completely without completely re-writing the characters (Rika's afraid of Terada...). So yeah, if you're going to judge it, judge it on the uncut episodes, and go at least until episode 8. The series gets a lot better once Syaoran shows up.

I believe that anime without character development(or very little) is not an anime at all. Also, it seems to me that at a certain time during dubbing in the 90's that most of the anime released during that time had complete character name makeovers. The best examples I've seen so far are Detective Conan, Sailor Moon, and now Card Captor Sakura. Not saying that all name ruining happened then, it's just I saw a sudden increase then. Maybe it has something to do with the target audience. DC and CCS are both supposed to be for kids(well, DC is questionable at best, but that was the target audience in Japan nonetheless) and SM was adapted for younger audiences and edited for ecchi content. Also guys, you are allowed to make your own topics here, as long as they are all CCS related sweatdrop
