SPIRIT GUIDES:
spirit guids are an animal that watches over you and helps you through life. I say its the cause of your personality and the way you act towards certain situations. finding you spirit guide is very simple for some people or it could be vey hard for others. It was very asy for me, i was like 9 years old when it came to me and before that even younger.
My mom told me when I was 4 years old we went camping and i ran off and got lost. obviosly my mom got a ranger and he sent off to find me. when he did find me she said i was playing right at the base of a mountain. The ranger shook my hand and made me promiss that i wouldnt go wandering off again because this place was famouse for their population of moutain lions.
obviously i just gave you a hint to what my spirit guide is.
Just recently at thanksgiving on the way home from another campground we stpped there again and it all came back to me. the path i took when i went wanderin of and when the ranger told me to be carefull.
finding your spirit guide and following it is your choice.
and for those who still havent figuered it out....
My spirit guide is the MOUNTAIN LION
It stand for leadership and selfconfidence.
The mountain lion is said to be one of the many gateways to teh spirit world.

ah the name game,
most persons I have meat like to refer to what you speck of as a totem spirt (but names dont relly matter)
mine is the fox, the crow, the otter, and the farret (one for each eleament ((fox is fire)))
closest to my heart and my ethenal totem is the bat.

and as skullgirly pointed out, you can have more than one! for me i havve the wolf and the hawk. One way to find them is through guided meditation.

My spirit guide is a wolf whom I've known long before I became Pagan. She used to appear to me in dreams when I was younger and things of upset were happening. I call her Mother actually because she's always there for me. She's very close to my heart and I love her more than anyone else. I have a very close relationship with her.
The only thing is - she's temperamental. I don't know if this is normal for spirit guides but there are times when she growls at me or "walks away" from me. I'm not sure why though.
Other than her there are several others that have shown up before. During meditation once a few showed up at once. A pair of crows, a rabbit, a dog and a fox I think. I'm not sure. But one of the crows has shown up more than once. He's quite frequent but he's also distant. He doesn't get close to me like Mother does but he's there a lot.

well my wolf guide seems really "psh, whatever" but then again i haven't spoken to him for a long time.... i guess they're as diverse as we mortals are.

Spirit guides you say? I haven't found mine yet...But one of my friends comented that I seemed like a cat person... Honestly, I don't know, really. I have 2 dragons and a cat. I'm not sure what kind of cat yet but I do know it's a cat. The cat isn't there that often but I've had the dragons for a very long time. She could growl and walk away from you because she wants you to follow her.

i feel i should point out that not all spirit guides are animals. some are human, some are entities found only on the astral plane.
