Ok, back to HnG discussion....
Overall, the series was amazing. To be honest, I'm surprised I liked it as much as I did. It's an anime about a bunch of guys playing a board game...that's about it. No romance, killer physical battles, evil spirits, demons, or curse seals (GET BACK IN THE BARREL SASUKE! Love ya Gwydo, haha). Sai is the only spiritual being, and he just seems like your typical ghost who drowned himself over a Go game...Sounds cheesy, ne? However, there was so much character development between Hikaru, Sai, and Akira that their drama kept you hook till the end. I do wish that the minor characters in the later Insei episodes would have been explored a little more. Izumi is alright, but why dedicate a whole episode to him and not the rest of the team? (Waya, Ochi, etc) Just my opinion smile Not to mention Waya is one of my favorite minor roles! (Man, I gotta get me some of the blue Camo!) xp

Don't really know how to expand upon it... sweatdrop Although I will admit that the Isumi (not Izumi, lol, you're thinking FMA) arc was my least favorite. I wasn't too excited about what was going on. Had it not been for Le Ping, I may have bored myself to tears reading/watching it, sadly. I guess I just wasn't as into the characters that it focused on. What's really sad is that my favorite parts in the whole series bookend the Isumi section. sweatdrop So I usually watch 63 and skip straight to 69 (I think that's the episode, anyway)... And for our next 3-day con, you should totally go as Waya for either Fri or Sun, lol! It'd be easy and fun, not to mention it'd be an excuse to buy some camo. wink I'll find a Hikaru outfit (though obviously not the hair...), lol (just not the PROJECT shorts with the spandex sweatdrop ). Sure, we may not be recognizable, but it would be fun anyway.

Hikaru no go, is amound the few books that really catches me, And there are only a few seires that does that dt me.. ^.^ I watched the animation.. and went totaly for it, and got my hands on the manga ASAP, whee also got the character guide, and is now looking for the game, and picture book.. ..
I think that this book does not have the style of art work that I love, but this style fits the story perfictly, and I have no complan what so ever about it,.. just I want to have the GO stones they were gaving out.. the ones with characters on them.. sad
o yea, there is a chart on the character pools in one of the books, I need to find it.. and the first place goes to no other than SAI.. whee heart .. and I think akila and hikaru took 3ed anf 4th place.. ._. I am not sure who got the second place.. ^^;; I will check.. sweatdrop later.. wink

Unless I go as Akira....TOO MANY WIGS! eek I meant not as a REAL cosplay, but just a casual one. Cause I KNOW you'd wear Waya's clothes elsewhere. wink So we'd be the female versions, lol. But poor Hikaru I don't think ever came in first... And the style of art is probably my favorite in HnG. I was looking at the later chapters (manga book 15) and my roommate (a fellow art major) kept looking over at my screen. I thought she was going to make fun of me (we poke fun at each other all the time), but instead she's like "Wow, do you see how the artist used this to get that across?" and so on. It was interesting because even though I love Obata-sensei's work, I hadn't really looked at it from a designer's perspective. But she pointed out all these small moves that really made the layouts and pictures themselves extraodinary (and she'd never even seen HnG, not to mention the fact that she's hate it, not her type). So I thought that was really cool.

I wasn't interested in Sai at first, when I started watching the anime...the first guy I stole was Kaga, right away. xd 'Cuz he reminded me of a Kenshin/Sano cross, and yes, I share them both with my friend in New Mexico. 3nodding
Anyway, yeah, then I fell for Akira and Sai about the same time...but Kaga is still my first love. Glad no one else took him. *Harrumphs*
Yeah, I think the Sai lip-thing is because in older times the Japanese wore make-up...guys and girls alike. It's not meant to make him look feminine really, lol. Though, it is a little disturbing to think about kissing a guy with make-up.

I agree with the make-up comments...however if Sai was more masculine, I don't think I'd like/appreciate him as much as I adore him now! Strange, ne? Just for kicks...in the anime Sai has purple hair; in the manga, his hair is blue (when colored). Which color do you prefer??? Or do you prefer the black and white?
