The day was good enough and, even if it hadn't been, it was suitable for shopping. It was one of those rare times that one would see him out of his standard dark suit and into some casual clothes. Hell, he even had a pair of jeans on today. With the long-sleeved dark blue shirt loose, but still tight enough it'd pull against his stomach if he performed anything more than a straightened stance, one had to wonder just where he was hiding his gun this evening. And he was, no doubt.

Trotting ahead after making sure to lock the car behind him with the switch, he easily crossed the street between the parking lot and the mall and hopped up onto the walkway. For someone who supposedly had such an intense job, he was full of pep, huh? The grey bird that had attached itself firmly to his shoulder gave a small shrill of disapproval, unnerved by the movement of its guardian and the threat of wind against its feathers. Funny. It didn't usually let him touch it, but in these wide open spaces, it stuck as close as it could. Finesse didn't seem to mind, even if it was sinking its little nails pretty sharply into his skin.

The aforementioned man turned back to whence he came, dark eyes scanning for the silver female. When -and if- she came, he was ready to be the obligatory door-opener. Yes. Because he was a gentleman always, and today he had the whole time to spend with his girlfriend. He was only slightly disappointed it was to a clothes store for the kids and not to a movie.

Shopping. The single word that could undoubtedly make her cringe. She hated shopping, no matter who it was for, or why. Well, shopping for clothes or gifts, anyway. Basic stuff like food, she could handle just fine, but other than that? It made her even more edgy and irritable than usual--and that was saying something. The short young woman stepped easily out of the car, flicking silver locks impatiently out of her face. She wore no headband today, and her hair spilled down her back to rest against the thick, black hoodie that was draped upon her torso. A simple pair of frayed jeans finished off the outfit, and voila. Tsunake hadn't dressed to be fancy, her mood sullen and hampered by the thought of shopping.

There was a bewildered chirp from the small, reddish grey lump of feathers that had perched within the back of her hood, and the pyrrhuloxia buried itself into the stream of silver, grooming the locks with its wedge-shaped beak. She'd tried to leave the damn thing at home, she had, but it had started to screech so loudly that her ears hurt. So, here it was, happily oblivious to the woman's irritation. One hand swept back to batter at the avian, long nails curling threateningly...but the bird merely shifted a little, nibbling at said nails with a coo. Tsunake growled, but gave up, shifting a frosted glare onto the man in front of her. How could he be so...upbeat about this? It confounded her.

Wordlessly, she slipped past him into the mall, some sort of thank you crawling into her throat and dying in her mouth, transforming itself into a scoff. The pyrrhuloxia peeped out of the hoodie, its crest flaring excitedly as it chirped a few sporadic notes to the timid bird on the man's shoulder.

It's big! So very big...How exciting~! The bird warbled, fluttering its wings some as it hopped onto the woman's shoulder. Can we bring the gaur here too? Wouldn't that be fun? It chirped at the other bird, ruffling itself with pleasure.

Poor humans. They were skuttling about, busy and charming, and Iamel did nothing to correct them. It was a nice day and the people were everywhere. Like ants, almost, all focused in on their hive mind. What they had in common.

Whereas the two of them with Birds were of searching for something important, such as socks and the love of one another, Iamel had very little interest in that. His clothes had gotten small - they WERE from when he was a child - and his favorite shirt had popped, right across his chest.

How was that fun? Really.

Sparkly jeans were making a comeback; the Bird had created a mimic of his childhood pants. Dark purple and loose, with patches of fabric and glitter ********. He loved it. Hi favorite. So shiny.

So--

What was that?

Two prescenses clicked into his mind and the shirt he was looking at was dropped. There were chirrups, somewhere, and they reached his ears. They were near... And once he stepped out of the store, merchandise forgotten, the oddlooking teen saw them. A bit further down, but they were there. It was unmistakable.

For now, he would just watch. When they got closer? He would talk. The humans might be pissed but those were Birds. So the humans didn't matter, right now.

With a half-hidden smile at the scoff, the mob member made to slip into the store after the woman. He'd be needing some socks, yes, both for just home and for his suit. Mostly, though, he was here to accompany Tsu and, you know, make sure she didn't just grab up some clothes from the first rack she spotted or something like that. It was clear by her sullen attitude that this was not her most favorite activity in the world, but surely he could make it fun somehow...

While he thought on this, his little shoulder-Death leaned a little towards its old counterpart, edging up a little closer to Finesse's neck. The question was met with more than a few ruffled feathers, a high sree following. N-no! Big is bad. The gaur is very big... But maybe... if we were safe up high. The more tense of the two, the waxwing felt eyes somewhere upon it. Using its beady eyes before turning its head, it was almost through the door with Finesse when it spotted the colorful young man down the way. It didn't have time to study much, but it could tell he was looking at them. With a small peep, it traveled its way around so it was on the back of Finesse's neck, trying to blend with the dark hair. Something out there wants to eat us. It informed the pyrrhuloxia, picking irritably at its chosen's collar. It would duck in there if it had to.

It was hard to miss the stranger--he looked like he'd been dropped in some eye-raping neon acid, and stuck out like a sore thumb. The woman glowered irritably in his direction, but seemed inclined to ignore him. What the hell was on his legs though? Oh. And he had wings. Well, whatever. Waitaminute. Her stride faltered for half a beat, suspicion flashing over her features as she stared at the freak through narrowed eyes. That was...She didn't have time to deal with this s**t right now. Tossing her head, the silver-haired woman strode past him, looking for whatever ******** rack would have clothing for kids on it. It was probably a good thing Finesse was here--Tsunake was not reknowned for her shopping expertise. Oh. Finesse probably hadn't seen winged beings before, huh? Too bad.

The pyrrhuloxia beat its wings excitedly, chittering and tossing silver hair aside, feathers scraping against the side of the lady's neck. We're safe! We're up high! Someone wants to eat us--where? The bird settled for a moment, scrabbling about on the woman's shoulder until it spotted the colorful human. But that wasn't an ordinary human, no. Hello! It chittered, and took off from its chosen perch, swooping down to promptly perch on Iamel's head, nibbling affectionately at his hair. You wouldn't eat us, would you? Noo, you're very pretty! He won't eat us! It peeped, proceeding to bury itself within the woodpecker's locks, fluttering its wings.

Well, of course, as soon as the damn bird had taken off, Tsunake's head had snapped around in surprise. What? As soon as she didn't care whether it stayed or not, it took off? ...Good riddance. Maybe it'd be gone for good! ...Or maybe it found itself temporarily smitten with that weird winged dude. Snorting irritably, the woman finally did pause, her teeth clamped ferociously together. Don't tear off someone's head, don't tear off someone's head...

Iamel was laughing, wriggling a little as the enthusiastic bird burrowed into his hair. It was an odd sensation but he remembered being that way once. He would nest on hair then but now HE was the nest.

"I won't eat you, I won't eat you!" The multi-colored one chuckled, reaching up into his hair to pet over the bird burrowing there. "I eat bugs, silly Birds, and sometimes I eat fruit but I don't eat birds - especially not ones like Me."

He nodded firmly, lips pulling into another grin. He loved Birds! They made him happy. The youngish boy moved, revealing his bewinged self fully to the humans. His red eyes glanced up, head cocking to the side curiously. "Are they yours, Birdies?"

Hard to miss, sure, but hardly to ignore as far as Finesse was concerned. He was in thought, and so long as that red-head kept his distance he'd be alright. Of course he didn't know what sort of spells Iamel might have up his sleeve. Finesse had never been exposed to magic, or at least not a lot. Nor did he see a pair of wings on someone very often.

Tsu's bird took off towards the stranger, which more or less left no more options of ignoring the teen. The man turned his visible black eye on the boy, blinking once at the display of the wings. Woah! Somehow, he was faintly reminded of the shopkeep at the petshop, with his odd choice of clothing. But no, the teen was certainly different. Friendly. Relaxing, he began to reach over his head for the waxwing. The aforementioned bird was quick to move, climbing down to a spot where the human's arms couldn't reach efficiently enough. It was all ready to squeak its disapproval at its fellow avian until it heard Iamel reply. He had replied!

Now he could see him and his wings while peering around Finesse. Why hadn't he noticed this connection before? Probably because he'd already been worried over the gaur... But this was another Bird, wasn't it? Only in that fleshy, mortal shell smoke and fire would probably be taking on soon. Safe? It chirped, claws flexing in the fabric of Finesse's shirt. What was it saying? Of course they were safe- this was Kin! Climbing up to the dark male's shoulder when he gave up trying to reach it, the smoke guardian took his leap and spread his wings for gliding. It didn't take long soar to Iamel, circling the wood-pecker's head. Ours, ours... It called, unsure of just where it should land, if at all.

"Um, yea. Those'r our birds," Finesse offered, obviously not understanding the situation, "If they just had those things flyin' around the parkin' lot-- wait. You just say you eat bugs?" Mm, yes. He was very smooth on his off-time.

Ours, ours! The Pyrrhuloxia chimed as well, mirroring its sibling's cry. The pet earned a delighted warbling coo, and the little bird rubbed its tiny head affectionately at the fingers, nibbling at them contentedly. Mine is the scary one! See how strong? Oh yes, he was proud of his pick, so pleased to have found someone so dangerous and snarly. And gloating was always nice! But the little bird's intentions weren't malicious--he was merely an excitable little thing.

A rumble of a growl pulsed within said Guardian's throat, and she propped her hands on her hips to glower at this newfound freak. So he talked to birds. Wonderful. Just as a scathing insult was beginning to crawl its way out of her mouth, Tsunake was temporarily distracted by Finesse's wit...or lack of, rather. "He has ******** wings. Do you expect him to be normal? No." The silver-haired woman scoffed and tossed her head, frosted eyes narrowed as her arms reluctantly folded across her chest. She was in no rush to get the avian back, however--the more time they wasted, the less time they had to shop.

"You live around here?" Her tone was harsh, but the hostility wasn't directed at the teen, it was just a quality of her voice. Maybe there was a whole family of crazies. That stupid bird seemed to be having a good time, perched on top of that mess of spikey red hair.

Iamel was delighting in the company of the small, pleasent birds. One of them was a nervous being but he couldn't begrudge that. Xaxis had been slow to trust once, as well. Now the raven was one of his best friends - part o the self-dubbed 'Raptor Squad' in fact.

The males question - the nervous ones Gaurdian - made him pause, glancing up with that slow, crooked grin to his face. "Of COURSE I eat bugs," He said, voice almost a tone of 'uh, duh' towards the human, "I am a gold-fronted woodpecker. We have to eat bugs. I like grasshoppers." Iamel nodded firmly, fingers reaching up to stroke along the bird on top of his head, laughing at that warbling sound from the pyrrhuloxia.

"I see, little one," He assures him, petting still at the small bird as well. "Very scary. Very strong. You chose well. Mine complained and screamed like a little girl when he first saw me."

Iamel grinned still, red eyes slanting up to the female. Stupid girl. She seemed to be having a good time, being grumbly and snarky.

"I live with my Gaurdian in a home not too far from here. Although I had to take his bike to get here." He agreed, nodding slightly. "I can not fly yet. Not very well." Then his attention turned back to the twins adorning him. "And what are you two doing here today? When you change, I will take you shopping for some real clothes then too! Fate sometimes has odd choices."

The bird nodded, laughing softly and giving the little loud bird another scritch. "And don't mind your gaurdians. They'll get used to you."

"Hey now..." Finesse smiled, attempting to fruitlessly calm the woman down with his reasoning. "It's not like kids don't sometimes wear attachments and that stuff 'round, ya know? Okay, so they're usually fairy wings and whatever but..." He stopped himself, about to pronounce fully that he'd never seen such an abnormality. Out of courtesy he kept it to himself, and tried not to stare too hard at the black and white wings.

The man blanched at what Iamel had to say. BUGS! That's disgusting! Wings or not, he couldn't get it out of his head that this kid was probably a little crazy. A woodpecker, huh? Right. And he was a magpie. C'mon, kid! And yet, Finesse also couldn't ignore how the waxwing alighted finally on the other's shoulder, crouched at the ready to move or take off again but there all the same. If Iamel could manage to touch the thing, the mafia member would be impressed. The skittish little thing was quick, after all. It climbed all over him though he had yet to manage to lay a finger on it.

Perhaps... when we are changed Agreed Smoke, and canted its head to peer at its brother with one beady eye. We are 'socks and school-clothes shopping'. And you?

"Eey... Are they really talkin' to you?" It'd be different if he happened to be on duty at the time. The dark man was curious. Wasn't Tsunake? "But uh.. Let's talk on the move, alright, Red? You wanna chat to our birds, but me and doll-face here got stuff to do. Gotta move before we grow roots, ya know?" With a small gesture in a general inward direction, Finesse began to move. Not gonna let you get out of it that easy, Tsu...

Blue eyes rolled towards the bird-boy irritably. Wings--hah! Her own wingspan would be enough to knock him flat on his a**...and had he said he was a woodpecker? Whatever, like she cared. "Mm." She grunted noncommittally. So, someone was looking after him then, tough luck for THAT sucker. she couldn't help but narrow her eyes again when he again spoke aloud to...the birds? What, did he really think that they understood and answered? Finesse seemed to think so--she shot him an irritable glower when he tried to pull them back to their current goal.

The pyrrhuloxia absolutely crooned with pleasure at the petting, its dark eyes closing with pure bliss as it rubbed its tiny head against those wonderful fingers. So good at scratching! Yeees, shopping for the socks! They are fun to hide in and smell bad! All the more reason to admire them, of course~! Scuttling clumsily across Iamel's head, the chubby bird made to hop down on the other's shoulder to enthusiastically preen its brother's feathers as well, cooing delightedly at the thought of being out and about.

With in audible growl in Finesse's direction, Tsunake tossed her head and skulked behind him, knowing damn well the shopping needed to be done, but unable to bring herself to like it. At all. If the freak behind them decided to follow, ******** for him.
