This was another uneventful day for Mama, who lay as she was accustomed in the murky waters of the swamp, only her head and occasionally her swishing tail visible above the water. Below, where her feathered wings were spread to their full span, nothing could be seen from above (or below, for that matter) in the still, dark water.

This was, perhaps, the goddess' most favorite way to spend her time - in the still, humid quiet of her home, relaxing in waters others might find dubious or repulsive. But she would take them over any waterhole, any clear stream.

This was her paradise.

Since reawakening Teuli'ukilia felt that she had hardly gotten out and around as much as she would've liked. Her first day back and she'd run into an old friend (though he did not recall their meetings from lives past), and her ex, even one of her daughters, but aside from them had kept herself scarce. She was already a grandmother, and not quite sure what to make of that, delighted, but distant. What was she to do with herself these days?

She flew through the skies on wings of flame, playing a game of connect-the-dots with the holes the sun seemed to poke through the clouds randomly. Nothing caught her eye below, though she kept watch. Plains, grasslands, rolling hills, mountains, jungles, forests, bodies of water-- all places that she had ventured before many a time. She wanted something new to explore, and that's exactly what brought her to seek out the swamp.

By no mere chance, many a whisper had been shared over the years about the murky grounds, where supposedly spirits roamed to keep strangers at bay. She had no fear of such spirits, but it didn't mean that she didn't feel a thrill of excitement at the prospect of encountering one in such an ominous place.

Down, down, down she cascaded in a spiraling descent, feeling a sense of familiarity as she drew nearer. She'd encounter someone or something that she'd met before here, it seemed, or perhaps it was simply the tell-tale sign of another immortal.

Finally, her paws touched down in one of the sunkissed clearings amidst the murky waters. Careful to keep the torch of her tail and wings away from the muddy depths (it did sap her strength something awful when they were doused) the goddess made her way towards one of the many raised pathways of mostly dry ground, heading in the direction of which she felt the pull of the other goddess.

Mama Bwawa wasn't expecting company - truth be told, she never was. It was very rare that she had visitors at all, and they were almost to a one by sheer accident. Except for Seitaru'kai, who came to see her every now and then, other gods seemed to simply stumble over her. Fortunately, she was largely a solitary sort, so the lonely existence rarely got to bothering her.

As she lay in her pool, though, she could swear she saw movement out of the corner of her eye...something different from the usual sorts of swamp critters - all of which she was very familiar with. Opening her eyes further, looking for all the world like a bizarre crocodile, she saw that today was going to be one of those rare days when she had company.

Probably an accident, of course.
