I just recently went to the book store (you know how people like to give Borders gift cards for Christmas), and picked up three books. Two of those novels were Stephen King novels. The were "Carrie", and, "Cujo". I've only read Carrie so far, and I must say that it was one of the most disturbing novels I have ever read. Just, the vividness of the events that he describes are...well frankly, it's a bit much. Does anyone have any comments about this?

Cujo is one of my favorite books. It's terribly suspenceful. Carrie is pretty good too, but not his best.

I love his movies, but I never get to go to the bookstore anymore! Of course I go to my school library, but they don't have such things. D:

I love Stephen King books. I buy any works of his I can get my hands on. But, I admit you have to have a very strong.. constitution? I suppose that works. You have to have a strong one to stomach most of them.

Carrie was disturbing.. but I found it very sad as well. The short story collections are good, and not all are pure 'horror'. I'd suggest some of those if you still want to read his works.

I suggest you read Everythings Eventual. It was a very good book, full of short stories by stephen king.

I haven't read Carrie or Cujo. I tried reading the latter, but I just couldn't get into. I think Carrie has been made into a movie and, if it has, I've seen part of it.
What I've read of Stephen King is the Green Mile Series. It's really good. It's a serial thriller novel in 6 parts and isn't creepy but just really good. I've read parts 1, 4, 5, and 6. It's really good mrgreen
I'll probably try reading Carrie and Cujo on of these days.

I love to read some of his books. I have seen "Cujo" and "Carrie" in movies. There are some of, if not many of his books that are turned into movies. I know one that some of you don't know right of hand it's called, "Sometimes They Come Back." It's a very good movie, with a lot of suspence in it. The only movie I don't like that he has made is "IT." I'll be honesty with ya, I'm afraid of clowns. I know, I'm an adult, always been afraid of them. oh well, goofy me. lol

I'm scared of clowns too! It has to do with the fact I was a clown when I was 4 which was 10 years ago. I haven't liked clowns since *shivers*

Heh... And I thought Carrie was more mild than his later works. Cujo was a good book. There's a lot of bloodshed, but I was surprised by how much he made you feel sad for the dog rather than portraying him as just a rabid animal.

If you were disturbed by how gory Carrie was, you should probably avoid books like Desperation, The Regulators and The Dark Half. In my opinion, those novels contain some of his most disturbingly vivid scenes.

I like the way Stephen King writes. I love his books, although I have been reading It for about three months

Stephen King rules, and that's that.

His greatest work was the Dark Tower series.

To this humble gaian Stephen King is just another writer. I think he is great when it comes to creating the problem and its consequent underlying idea or theme but when it comes to the climax of the story... I don't know... to me most of the times the resolution of the problem is childish.
Say IT, for instance, evil clown and everything... Story is pretty good until those kids go back to the tunnels to fight IT on its true form.
Same can be said about Some Times They Come Back and many others. I have read must of his work.

The only one I really liked is Misery because you weren't able to see how it was going to end.
