Abandoned Village - Map 1

This village looks old. The plantlife is overgrown. It hadn't been taken care of in a long..long time. The buildings are still intact and stable looking. So.. what made the people leave so suddenly?

More than one hybrid can explore this place at the same time, seperately or as a group.

Youko pushed aside greenery as he marched through the dense woods. Where was he going again? Oh yeah... He'd wanted some fresh air. Some walk it had turned into. Now he was lost and had no idea how to get back. While he liked the plants, he wished they could talk; give him directions. SOMETHING.

Grumbling to himself as he suddenly got smacked in his cheek by a whippy branch, he hissed. "This seriously is not my day. First Taevis and Procyon, then the kids walking in on him and Sirius... Poor Youko just needed something to go right for him. And yet, nothing had. Yet.

Squeezing between a few tightly packed trees, Youko suddenly found himself in a place he'd never seen before. It looked to be a village. Or used to be at least. "Whoa..." he murmured, looking around cautiously. Had this always been there? Well duh, of course. But how? It looked abadoned, definitely, but it didn't seem too old.

Stepping quietly into the village, Youko had all senses alert. He didn't want his already bad day to get worse by being jumped or anything.

- Youko has 50 hitpoints (HP). When his HP become 0, he will be knocked unconscious. Should they go below 0, he will wake up (after some time) back home.

From what could be seen just looking at the village at first glance, it wasn't in bad shape at all. Hell, the buildings could still be lived in. Surely, if people lived there once.. they perhaps left something behind?

The fox's curiosity took hold of him as he approached the building on his right. It looked sturdy enough - quite liveable. You know, if one didn't mind having the whole house practically covered in plants. He hopped onto the small porch. Then Youko tentively paused, his ears twitched to hear any other sort of movement, but heard nothing.

Eyeing the door he saw a rather thorny looking vine wrapped around it - looking menacing. Youko still reached out his hand to carefully turn the knob, slowly turning it so as not to scare anything (or anyone) that may be on the other side.

The door opened easily, after breaking a few of the vines on it. Something skittered inside. A squirrel appeared, chittering angrily at Youko for disturbing it, then ran past his feet and into the plants outside.

Inside the house was dust and cobwebs. It looked like there were some insects living in there too, along with other rodents. All which fled from the light from the now open door.

Whoever lived here left a lot of things behind...

Youko froze at the sound of skittering. But when it turned out to be merely a squirrel, the fox laughed. It sounded loud, seeing as there was nothing else to make any noise.

Quickly he stiffled his laughter, glancing around the building. Ew. Cobwebs. He hated 'em! And the sounds of fleeing rodents made Youko shiver. Uuuuggg. Maybe he should leave. Leave before something happened to him.

But of course, his curiosity pushed him further into the building. There was a lot in the room, making it hard for Youko to step anywhere without stepping on something. Of which he didn't really want to know what it was.

((Lalalaaaa!

Edit!))

As he looked, there seemed to be some... things in a corner. Some sort of items, but he couldn't quite tell what. So, Youko inched closer to see what they were.

Stepping with care, the fox cringed as he took the long route around some evil looking cobwebs. And all that was running through his mind was, EWWW!

Finally, he came to a halt in front of the items. Leaning in, he inspected them closer, reaching out a hand to touch them.

The items on the desk were covered in about an inch of dust. But he could make out the shapes of books, an inkwell, and a feathered quill. Maybe there's something written in it that could explain more about this place?

Youko gently blew on the items, recognizing them as books and the like. The dust flew up, filling the air and making him cough. Waving his hand in front of his face to rid the air of the dust he'd blown up.

Once it had cleared a bit, the fox took a gander at the books. Picking one up carefully, he glanced at the front and binding, turning it over. Could this be of anything of interest? But then he went to touch the quill. It looked so soft... Like Sirius' hair.

The book was old. The bindings were loose, and as Youko turned it over, one of the pages fluttered to the floor. It was tattered and looked as if it had been used for traveling purposes.

He looked curiously at the paper that fell, and crouched down to retrieve it. Gently picking it up, Youko stood and examined it. Wow did it look well worn. Putting in on a stack of books to flatten it out, the fox wondered what it read.

- Roll 1 d20

1-7 : Youko has no idea what it says. It's all gibberish to him.

8-13 : Youko can recognize a few of the symbols, but not enough to understand it.

14-17 : Youko can recognize a few words, but not enough to understand it.

18-19 : Youko can recognize half of the words and understand a little bit of it.

20 : Youko can recognize most of the words and get a pretty educated guess as to what it says.

((Lalalalaaaa!

Edit!))

Crap. Youko stared at the page, dumbfounded. He couldn't read a word! It looked like a bunch of random lines placed on the page!

Grumbling, Youko picked the book back up, carefully turning the pages to see if all of the ones in there were like the one page he'd 'attempted' to read.

Yeah.. The book was filled with that writing. Wait -- ... The last 3rd of the book didn't have any writing. After looking for the last page that had the writing, Youko found something rather.. odd... The last word appeared to be scribbled halfway through, like it was never completed.

- You can roll again to see if he can understand it on a second try, or have Youko continue to explore.
