Here's my review of it, as a DOA fan, and as a movie-fanatic, I'll rate this as accurate as possible.
Personally, I wansn't expecting the movie to be anything similar to the game. But it was, it was similar to the game, since there was a tournament involved. Martial arts were involved, and the effects wre simply amazing. Sure, it's not "Super Returns" material, or whatever, but it was a good movie. Why? Because if you hadn't been introduced to the video game, but only watched it while considering the fact that it was only a "movie", and not based off the game, you'll tend to enjoy it a lot more. Personally, I didn't hate the movie as much as other people, because they expected it to be exactly 100% like the game. They don't normally make the movies like the video games.
It supposed to be different, giving a meaning to the sentence "the element of surprise". Overall, I loved the movie because of the storyline and effects. Some of the things I disliked was that they made it too perverted. But other than that, it was great. I also dislike the fact that they replaced Hitomi with an Asian guy wearing yellow, and uses Karate fighting against Helena. Plus, the characters does not depict the characters in the game very well, like Ayane's relationship between Kasumi, was similar, but different than the game. But that's the fun part of it all. *shrugs*
(If you pause the scoreboards, Hitomi's name is on there, and if you've payed attention to the matches, there were 3 Asian guys tha looked alike. Jann-Lee, Ellliot, and some other dude in yellow that fought Helena. Jann-Lee fought Christie, Elliot fought Hayabusa, and the other guy fought Helena, in a process of elimination, it was obvious the guy in yellow is none other than a substitute for Hitomi. Max was eliminated by Zach.)
Overall, I give this movie an 8 out of 10, since I've seen worse movies, and this is the kind of movie that you would watch with a bunch of your friends, just for having a good time and a good laugh. NOT the kind of movie you would watch with your girl friend, unless your girl friend likes this kind of stuff.

Well, I didn't watch the movie, for several reasons, but I think I might once I have the chance. The movie isn't very appealing to me because there seems to be some Charlies Angel cheesiness in it confused Which annoys me a lot. And Kasumi's costume looks cheap, and the characters physically don't look that much like the ones from the game. But, oh well.

I watched it, and did not really like it. They used all the characters and a little bits of their stories, but failed in getting actors that look and act like the DOA characters. The action wasn't too bad, but the story was too simple. And the most dissappointment was that almost all the guys lost. It's weird how only Hayabusa could win against the rest.
The worst things that killed me was Hayate, he looked pretty fine when you first see him. But in the end....he's almost bald! He looks way older than Hayabusa, which is weird. Ayane dissappointed me to, because her hair was horrible. The other factor was that most of the characters were not from their nations too, which did look awkward on some. Anyway, this movie is not really close enough to the game, but the action was great. confused

Hitomi easily has the most inaccurate actor, A MAN! Well overall, the movie had Two good scenes, The Tournament scene, and the fight between Hayate and that dude. The rest was laughable, this movie lived up to my expectations of being worster than the Street Fighter movie. Because at least the Street Fighter movie was funny in the way Super Mario Bros. was funny >__> There was a lot of bad acting as well <__< especially on Devon Aoki's part. A few scenes were cut out too (Gen Fu vs Kasumi for example), they'll be Deleted scenes I bet you <__<. Here's a intresting fact, the actor that played Hayabusa, Kane Kosugi, played another english speaking Ninja before in 1994 The all english Ninja Black Jiraiya in the 1994 Installment of the Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger>__> I can't see Kane in the movie as Hayabusa, the entire movie I was like, "Whip out your Doron Changer!" >__> Kane played another Henshin Hero, Kenichi Kai, aka the human form of Ultraman Powered in the US Produced Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero (although it was never aired in America, only aired in Japan, just produced in the US). His father Sho provide voice overs for Ultraman Powered. Also Kane has played a number of ninja's in the past, and is the son of the famous Sho Kosugi who also has played a s**t load of ninja's Well overall, the movie was obviously a B movie, only 2 good scenes out of the entire movie. The only reason you should watch it is to say you watched so you can have a non-biased opinion.

i personally think the doa movie should have been done as an animation and not in real life. it would have been much easier for the directors and producers and would save some time.

I agree that the movie should have been done in animation but I did love the actors and the plot. The Gen Fu vs Kasumi scene is in the deleted features and I think they did a fantastic job. They trained the actors and actresses for like 4 months be fore filming and in the making of DOA Devon Aoki (plays Kasumi) says "For the fans sake we are trying to keep as close to the game as possible" I loved the movie and I din't think it was gonna be that good.

I didn't seem like the DOA game I know and love. The story they had for the movie was sorta warped, I mean Kasumi, Tina and Christie seem very unlikely to ban together. To tell you the truth it seem pretty cheesy at some points so I didn't really like it.

i watched the movie and the parts where the characters are being introduced seemed to go really well with the plot
especially christie
however the movie could have been better considering the vast experiences that each character had
