[ Reason to become a Magician]
Why magician? Well, first of all, they have the highest amount of MP (Mana Points) out of all the classes. Magicians use spells that attack based on your intelligence. They can hit close-range AND far-ranged, unlike bowman and assassins, who have to jump back when they are too close. Warriors can only hit close-ranged, unless they hack, which isn't advisable to do, because it will ruin the life of other maplers forever. The Magicians are the best KSers (Kill Steal) out of all the classes, but KSing isn't the ideal thing to do unless you want to be defamed by others.

[ About Ice Lightning Wizards ]
Here are the pros of being an Ice Lightning wizard: Have lightning which can strike up to 6 monsters around you in one hit Can freeze monsters for 1-2 seconds using Ice-based attack Have the highest base attack after the 3rd job Are pretty fast and easy to level
But if there are pros, there are cons, unfortunately: Lightning-based attack uses a TON of MP, which can be difficult for un-funded mages Does not do as much damage as Fire/Poison wizards Loses out later, during the 3rd job
This is the most common magician 2nd job, besides cleric. Fire/poison wizards are not that common.

[ How to become Magician ]
Magicians only need INT and LUK. When creating your character, roll the dice until you can get perfect stats, or almost perfect stats. Perfect stats are: 4 STR 4 DEX ? INT ? LUK
Almost perfect stats are: 5 STR 5 DEX ? INT ? LUK
You want STR and DEX to be the lowest, because you have no need for those stats. After you create your character and start leveling up, DO NOT add any Stat Points (SP) to HP (Hit Points) or MP (Mana Points). HP and MP are increased as you level automatically, no need to increase them anymore.
As you start out as a Beginner in Maple Island, train on the Fake Sentinels. They don't hurt you, and they are easier to kill than other snails. When you grow to level 2, open up your Stat Window by pressing the button (S). Then locate INT and use all your available AP (ability points). You don't need any LUK until you see that your LUK is +3 of your level. For example, if you are level 2 and you have 7 LUK, you should not add LUK yet; add everything to INT. When you reach level 4; that's when you should add it, because 4+3=7. LUK enables you to wear future magician equipment. After that, all you need to do is use this simple formula: LUK+1; INT+4. Now is time to add your SP (Skill Points). Open up the Skill Book by pressing the button (K). This will open up your skill book. You only have 3 skills right now, which are for Beginners. Add the skill points to one of the skills; whichever you want. To use the skill, click and drag the icon of the skill to your shortcut window at the bottom right corner. I suggest you add it to 3 Snails first, then add to Nimble Feet, which is that skill with a feather for the icon. That lets you gain speed so you can walk faster for about 5 seconds or so. As for Recovery, add it after you add 1 to 3 Snails and 1 to Nimble Feet. WARNING: DO NOT ADD ANOTHER SP TO 3 SNAILS AFTER YOU HAVE 2 SP IN THERE ALREADY. WHEN YOU ADD 1 SP TO 3 SNAILS FOR THE FIRST TIME, IT ALLOWS YOU TO THROW GREEN SNAILS WHICH WILL HIT 10. AFTER YOU HAVE 2 SP IN THE 3 SNAILS SKILL, IT WON'T ALLOW YOU TO THROW GREEN SNAIL SHELLS ANYMORE; YOU WILL BE THROWING BLUE SNAILS. IF YOU ADD THE 3RD SP TO IT, YOU WILL HAVE TO START THROWING RED SNAIL SHELLS. RED SNAILS ARE THE HARDEST TO KILL AT YOUR LEVEL AND YOU SHOULD NOT EVEN TRAIN ON THEM.
Alright, I turned off CAPS lock. Happy?
Ok, after you get to level 7 (or was it lvl 6...?), you stop getting SP. OK, now to train! Train on green and blue snails. Try doing some of the quests because they give you a lot of xp.
After you are level 8, go to South Perry. Walk all the way to your right. You should see Shanks, who is a Non-Playable Character (NPC) at the end of the map. By now you should have at least 150 mesos. Take the ship to Victoria Island and say goodbye to Maple Island since you won't be seeing it again. When you reach Victoria Island, you will be in a town called Lith Harbour. You should be on a ship. Walk away from the ship and find a guy in a booth which should near the ship. Talk to him and you will be given two options. One is for him to explain about other towns while the other will take you to another town. Choose to go to another town and then pick Ellinia town.
Now you have gotten to Ellinia, climb all the way to the top of Ellinia and enter the single building there. There will be an old man called Grendel the really Old. Talk to him by double-clicking and he will give you a bunch of information about magicians. Then he will make you a magician. CONGRATULATIONS! You may now cast spells! Grendel will give you one SP point. Add that to Energy Bolt. Here is the skill analysis:
Improving MP Recovery
Now this skill is a totally important skill. It helps increase your total MP level of recovering, which is a good thing. It's essential for all mages to max it out.
Improving Max MP Increase
Get this skill maxed out ASAP. That is; if you wanna be a professional mage. You will get more MP added to your grand total of MP each level.
Magic Guard v.s Magic Armour
People have troubles choosing which one to max. Choose Magic Guard. The big question is WHY? The reason behind it is that Magic Guard helps to transfer a certain amount of damage to your MP depending on the mastery of the skill. For instance if Magic Guard is maxed out, if a monster hits you 100 damage, your MP takes 80 damage and HP 20. IT might burn your MP BUT you have the highest INT in the game. Plus, you can regain it back fast. For Magic Armour, it will only help you a little in the earlier stages. Cause you won't stand a chance against Gatekeepers if you add Magic Armour at the starting. Adding 40 weapon defence will not help much.
Energy Bolt
This skill is the basic of all basics. I would advice you not to ever max this out. But you must up this by one level at the starting but leave it at level 1 for the rest of your maple life because it won't help you much.
Magic Claw
Magic Claw is basically the only good spell for Magicians. Well, it's not a bad skill and you ought to know it. Max it. It attacks your enemy twice with one hit.
Here is your first build; where to put your SP:
LVL 8 - Energy Bolt +1 (first skill point) LVL 9 - Max MP Recovery +3 LVL 10 - Max MP Recovery +2 Max MP Increase +1 LVL 11 - Max MP Increase +3 LVL 12 - Max MP Increase +3 LVL 13 - Max MP Increase +3 (Maxed) LVL 14 - Max MP Recovery +3 LVL 15 - Max MP Recovery +3 LVL 16 - Max MP Recovery +3 LVL 17 - Max MP Recovery +2 (Maxed) Magic Claw +1 LVL 18 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 19 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 20 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 21 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 22 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 23 - Magic Claw +3 LVL 24 - Magic Claw +1 (Maxed) Magic Guard +2 LVL 25 - Magic Guard +3 LVL 26 - Magic Guard +3 LVL 27 - Magic Guard +3 LVL 28 - Magic Guard +3 LVL 29 - Magic Guard +3 LVL 30 - Magic Guard +3
At lvl 30, your skills should be like this: Energy Bolt 1 Max MP Recovery 16 (Maxed) Max MP Increase 10 (Maxed) Magic Claw 20 (Maxed) Magic Guard 20 (Maxed)

[ Training Hotspots for Magicians from level 1-30 ]
Lvl 1-8 Monsters to train on : Snails, Blue Snails, Shrooms, Red Snails, Orange Mushrooms Location: Henesys Hunting Grounds 1
Lvl 9 to 15 Monsters to train on : Slimes, Slimes, and More Slimes Location: The Slime Tree
Lvl 16 to 20 Monster to train on : Slimes, Pigs, Orange Mushrooms. Location: Henesys Hunting Grounds 1, [Hidden Street] Pig Beach
You can continue with Slimes if you want, but Orange Mushrooms are the preferred choice. Why not pigs? Well, the reason behind it is that if you go to the "Pig Beach", you would not be able to get a proper kill as that place is usually flooded. Orange Mushrooms can be found in Kerning City or Henesys.
Lvl 21 to 30 Monsters/Quest to train/do (on) : Kerning PQ, Green/Horny Mushrooms, (Ribbon) Pigs Location: Southern Tree Dungeon III and IV, Pig Beach
It's time to PQ! Well, not really. You shouldn't PQ at lvl 21-24 until lvl 25, because you might be too weak to fight the monsters in the Party Quest (PQ). So you should first train on the mushrooms and the pigs first. At lvl 25+, PQ PQ PQ PQ PQ PQ and MORE PQ!

One thing, almost perfect stats are
STR:4/5 DEX:5/4
Not 5/5.
And..something you can add if you want, players if experienced can train at ant tunnel on zombies at level 22 onwards. 2 Hits to kill zombie mushroom and at the same time they can search for their level 33 chaos robe instead of buying it.
