Humming a slight tune, Basil held his skirt while filling in one of the many flowers in the landscape he was doing in chalk. Every now and then, a couple people would walk by and watch at how quickly and efficiently he moved and drew.

His motions were fluid and rolling as he would pick up his skirt and got to the next thing he needed to work on. What surprised most people about his artwork was that it was completely out of the air. He came almost everyday to the park where he drew and he had regulars who would come visit.

Stopping his humming, the cat's tail twitched as he stood back to admire what he had done so far. It was only a moment as he went straight back to a spot where he figured something could be done, and that would be followed by many other things that would catch his eye.

Jigue padded along the pathway of the park slowly, squinting to try to find where he was going without result. He had to feel around with his bare paws at the grass that lined the walkway, getting annoyed glances at people that had to force their way past him. He cringed; even though he couldn't see the glares, he could feel the electrical intensity. It was enough to make him want to curl up in a ball behind a tree, but he had more dignity than that.

He was rather stubborn, once again going out into the world without an escort or a walking stick to feel his way around. He wanted to be so much more independant than that, and oftentimes would get himself into trouble with thoughts like these. His hands gripped tightly along his violin case, one latched around the handle and another holding it shut at the edge.

Because of these thoughts, he forgot to look to the ground for anything in his way, and he ended up bumping into the artist Basil as he was making his chalk mural. He stumbled a few steps, taking wide strides away to gain his balance back. Once he got his bearings back, he stood stiffly, noticing for the first time the dark figure -- a blob to his sights -- on the side of the pathway where he was walking. "I... I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there," he said, cringing at the words. See... should he even be using those words?

Basil made a little noise at being bumped, his chalk he held in his hand, clatttered with a glass like quality to the ground. Regaining his composure he picked up his skirt and grabbed the chalk piece which had added extra blue color to a yellow flower.

Getting up so he could see who had bumped him he gave a smile warmly. People watched to see what the cat would do, but he did nothing but smile and walk towards him. "Are you okay? Im very sorry. I should have moved." He gave a small purr and brushed off his hands on a towel he had lying on the ground.

"Oh! Do you by chance enjoy coloring?" He wanted to finish the mural so he could take a break. He had a very bright grin on his face as he looked at the ground. "Hold that thought..." At that he ducked down to the ground and filled in a small space that had been forgotten before going back to the new face.

Jigue blushed as the eyes of the onlookers watched him and Basil, feeling very uncomfortable under the weight of so many that he himself couldn't see. The dark shadow-like wall of people in front of him made him just want to shrink back and disappear, forgotten. It was so embarrassing when things like this happened, but it had never happened in front of a crowd before!

But the person he had run over... he was being so nice! Why was that? He had messed up whatever it was that he was doing on the ground, and the others didn't seem too pleased with it. Being so uncomfortable, Jigue only managed to speak in small squeaks, most of which anyone besides Basil could hear because of the distance between them. "N-No! No, it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention," he stuttered, holding the case to his violin close to his chest. Paying attention... like he could do that very well anyway, but he always found himself apologizing for things he couldn't have helped due to his impared sight.

His furry ears twitched to Basil's question. Coloring? He didn't know, did he? He felt somehow relieved that it wasn't so easily noticable, but perhaps it should've been a bad thing. Before he could answer, choked as he might be, the other anthro had ducked from his view. This gave him ample time to think of a way he could answer this man without sounding cold. "I'm sorry, I can't..." he trailed off, turning his eyes away from where he thought Basil was standing. "I'm sure it is lovely."

The cats' tail twitched slightly, as he ignored the on lookers. He could tell that Jigue was uncomfortable. He gave a purr as he stood once again, backing away from what he had just fixed. It hadnt been the other cats' fault, it was just a missed spot, but now it was better.

He had caught the last part with keen ears... That had to mean...

Looking back at Jigue he smiled warmly as he pushed his glasses up a bit with his wrist. "Aw come on. Its not that hard. I'll help you." Basil was very care free with his drawings and thought that anyone who tried had a beautiful talent.

"Here." Gently the cat took the others hand and placed a blue chalk into it, with his free hand he picked up his skirt as he moved alittle so that Jigue could could lower himself.

Carefully Basil placed the tip of the chalk onto the ground, where a brightly colored butterfly had been started already. "The butterfly just needs some of this blue." The cat traced out the outline of the shape and then slowly let go of the others hand.

Jigue twitched slightly at the other cat's purr, noticing for the first time that his tripping-victim really didn't mind. He wasn't just saying so to be nice, he really meant it. The pale cat blushed, his tail swaying from side-to-side less nervously. He was still rather stiff over the other people's stares, but at least he was getting a little more comfortable.

He jumped when Basil began speaking again, not taking 'no' for an answer. He became slightly more nervous again, not wanting to intrude on the other cat's masterpiece and drawing in front of all the others -- especially since he had never done so before! "No, I'm serious! I can't!" he tried, but knew it was useless. Basil, he could tell, was stubborn on the matter, even though Jigue could tell he did it to help.

The softness of Basil's touch and how carefully he maneuvered the blind cat made him wonder if Basil knew he was blind, while simultaneously warming Jigue's heart. Nobody had been so kind to him in a long while, even if it was an awkward way of doing so. He was helpful to him without making Jigue feel like he was dependant on him, something that relaxed him. He let Basil lead his hand, blushing at the warmth of it. And the vibrant color... it was music to his eyes, in a sense. He squinted to try to see the piece better, but it was no use. Although the colors were dimmed to his senses, he could tell the chalk drawing was beautiful.

As Basil released his grip Jigue jolted, not ready for him to do so. However, his hand kept moving, trying to picture what he was drawing with his fingers. His senses were high above average and could tell by the shape of the outline that it was a butterfly, so tried to continue to color it in. His lines were shakey and they didn't always fit in the lines, but it was surprisingly well done for someone on his first time coloring. "I-I'm doing it!" he laughed as he finished, leaning back to take in all the color on the floor. "It's beautiful, you know," he told the cat, smiling widely in excitement. "Thank you."

With a twitch of his fine whiskers, he realized he hadn't properly talked to his acquaintance yet and subconsciously knocked himself over the head. "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. My name's Jigue, and it's a pleasure to meet you," he said cheerfully, trying his hardest to ignore the watching eyes. He held his hand out for Basil to grab, hoping he was holding it out the right way.

The cat continued to purr warmly as he watched the other fill in the butterfly. While he was coloring he spotted a couple spots around him that he instantly fixed, but when he was done he just returned to his guest.

He was more than happy to help Jigue as he stayed on his mulitcolored (because he's barefoot and on chalk) toes, watching as he finushed. Happily Basil's tail swished. "Its lovely. It has to be the best butterfly of the entire picture." He murred and gave a small nod of his head at the compliment. "Thank you." He gently took the out stretched hand and held it.

"Basil. It's really a pleasure to meet you Jigue.--Oh...Excuse me a moment." Again another flaw in his design caught his eye as he stood and quickly went to fix it.

On lookers used to look and stop and laugh for it was useless to draw such detailed drawings on the ground when they would be washed away at the first sight of moisture. The cat would merely purr and smile. For once it washed away, he could make yet another scene out of paradise to share with other peoples imaginations, and he knew it affected them.

Humming slightly, he swayed back to where the cat sat to join him. Slowly on lookers would gaze at the mural before moving on. Still, Basil had no mind to heed them. Most praise ment nothing, for half of the people who did only did it because they thought they didnt have the talent to do such things. But, Jigue had been brave enough to try, and he had succeeded.

"It amazes me how such small gestures could mean so much to one. You have to wonder why it's such a surprise if they've never tried something or just said they can't do it... Most beings arnt willing to try anymore..." The cat wasn't speaking to anyone in general, he just wasnt used to thinking in his head. It was how he was and would always be.

Basil's purring was warming to Jigue's heart, still beating a little hard from the stares he was given. The sound was musical, something a violin could never copy in beauty, and it only made Jigue smile brighter. He blushed once more at the compliment he was given to something he could hardly distinguish himself, wishing he could see the entire picture in its full glory. He had never blushed so much around someone before, but it made him feel happy, if just a bit more nervous than usual. "I wouldn't say the best..." he said, rocking a little in place. However, he knew Basil was referring to a different kind of beauty, one found only when someone expressed their feelings in an image. It was different from his own, and therefore beautiful in its own way, but the compliment still sent Jigue's heart a-flutter.

Jigue gripped Basil's hand firmly and gave it a swift shake once, unable to rid himself of the smile he had on. He didn't mind as Basil went to fix another flaw in his mural, as he knew that he'd be back.

Jigue was starting to get a basic outline on Basil's behaviors, and he was already liking what he saw in him. He had a very precious soul, one he would never like to see get harmed in any way. He was kind beyond any logical reasoning, but found a need to prove himself among his actions. He was beautiful in his own way, even without Jigue being able to see his outward looks. This was the first time he really wished he could see, more than ever.

He made himself comfortable as Basil returned, wrapping his thick tail around his own body and violin as he saw the shadows leave. He exhaled with relief, noting that the ones who were staring at him before were finally moving on as others passed. His smile returned as he felt Basil's body heat next to his own, a warm sensation unlike the outward one overcoming his body. Basil was so different from anyone else Jigue had met before, and it made him curious how different he was.

His tufted ears twitched as Basil's musical voice returned to the air around him, relaxing his nerves as he studied it. Why was he so interested in this one? Why did Basil intrigue him so? His ways were so different yet so welcomed, it made Jigue almost... giddy. He cocked his head slightly in interest to what Basil had to say, smiling in agreement. "Yes, I know what you mean. Beauty is in the fact that you try and don't give up. Traditional beauty is only skin deep; it's the soul of the person who made it that makes it really shine," he said as he finally got why Basil did what he did. He was speaking mostly from his experience with the violin, but knew that traditional art was only a medium away. "Your name... I never mentioned how beautiful it was. I think it fits your soul quite nicely," he commented with a slight blush returning to his cheeks. He had never complimented someone in that way before, and he wondered what was coming over him.

His ears flickered slightly as glanced at Jigue. "Oh...dear. Was I thinking out loud again?" He gave a small chuckle into his dusty hand. "I'm sorry. Please excuse my brashness..." The cat's tail curled around on the ground as he purred at the compliment.

"Why thank you. My older sister gave it to me. She had to convince my mother it was a suitable name for me." Ah, the memories. Silently he thought of how much he truly missed home... The house that was always warm and welcoming with delicious scents wafting from the kitchen... Without realizing it, the purring of his faultered ever so slightly, but was easily recovered. He loved his family dearly...

Stretching his arms high above his head he inhaled deeply. The sun was just perfect at that moment and it was atually quite nice to have another person besides the stubborn wolf, Corbyn, to be with. He wouldnt ever be quite able to express how nice it was. He stopped in the middle of his stretch and looked at Jigue as he remember the other cat had been on the way some where, "Oh dear. I hope I didn't stop you from any important errands you were running. I'm terribly sorry if I distracted you. I tend to get wrappe dup in my own world, not thinking what others may possibly have upon their own agendas."

Jigue's head perked up at Basil's comment, a bit surprised. Thinking out loud? That was a rather odd trait. But the pale cat only smiled; laughing a little, even. "No reason to apologize. Most people can never state something like that, but I think it's best to get your feelings out. It can be a good quality, if you use it right," he replied, speaking sincerely. Some people couldn't say what was on their minds, and that is what usually hindered any kind of relationship.

Jigue leaned back slightly, putting his weight on his hands as they rested in the grass behind him. He listened to Basil as he recounted how he got his name, and it made the cat smile. Such family devotion and love... he wished he could have had that. His ears twitched as Basil's purring faultered, making Jigue wonder if something was the matter. "Well, I think your sister picked out the perfect name. She has really good taste!" he chirped with a purr of his own. He didn't purr much, but Basil's felt rather contagious; he couldn't think of anyone more deserving of it, either.

The blind cat raised his head to the sky, only to catch sight of the bright light of the sun. Even with such limited eyesight, the sun could really burn his eyes and he quickly turned his head back down, blinking and rubbing them. He turned his head slightly upward toward Basil as he spoke, ears standing straight up as it came. "Oh! Well, I wasn't really heading anywhere in particular. I just wanted to come down here, to the park, and enjoy the nice day. Probably somewhere more secluded to practice my... violin...," he said quickly, so as not to embarrass Basil. His last word was quieter, not wanting to draw attention to the case in his hands. The violin was a rather sentimental piece to him, and he was rather nervous to show it to anyone, even more self-conscious over his playing. He could play like a pro and could speak emotions with the music that words couldn't describe, but he was embarrassed over the praise he got. Somewhat attention-shy, this little cat was.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 20, 2007 12:13 am

His heart was warmed at being able to get the other cat to give a purr along with him. You could say, helping others was Basil's complete and utter motivation. If not helping, then picking their curiosity about the world around them. Surprisingly, not enough people truly stop and think what it's all about. One of the cats favorite things is when he gets comments about his work, and they just laugh thinking how silly he was, but... They come back, the next day, then the next. Not able to forget about the crazy chalk artist in the park. The reason some came back was because they wanted to know more, but they wouldnt admit it and walk by, only to return again the next day. Others came back to see if he was truly faithful to drawing in the park.

Curious, Basil looked at the other feline, ears perked a smile pasted on his face. "Violin? So you're a musician! How wonderful!" He personally loved the instrument and music alike, he purred happily as he spoke, "It's a wonderful instrument and can create many beautiful melodies. I bet you play it wonderfully." He wouldn't bother the cat to play it for him, instead he turned and looked at him, a sincere smile on his face, "Sometime... Would you play it for me? I would love to hear you... I bet it's magical..."

Jigue's eyes scanned the horizon in front of him carefully, watching as the strangers walked past Basil's mural after a brief pause to admire it. In his concentration he didn't realize he was frowning, probably putting off the observers from staying too long unless they were observant enough to notice he wasn't looking directly at them. His ears twitched as a dragonfly fluttered past, and Jigue snapped out of it, wondering how long he had been lost in thought. He scratched his head mindlessly; long periods of silence oftentimes did that to him.

Clutching his violin case, he nervously listened to Basil talk about musicians. "Yes, I am a musician, but I'm relatively unknown," he said quietly, almost mumbling though he knew the other could hear him. He blushed once more at Basil's words, taking them to heart. He... he wasn't pressuring him to play for him? He wasn't! His head lifted slightly his eyes staring. "I... I'd love to play for you sometime," he stuttered, amazed. He was so happy right now he was holding back the urge to squeak. "Just give me a little time and I'll play you something special," he grinned widely, his blush vibrant. His compliments, he knew, were directed at his soul. It wouldn't matter if he was a terrible player, just so long as he but his heart and soul into it. He would have to write something special for this one.

"So, do you come here everyday to do this?" Jigue asked, changing the subject. He didn't think he could handle so much positive stimulation all at once, and was trying to settle himself down. The bushy fur around his neck ruffled as he fidgeted slightly, happy. "Perhaps I should stop by here more often!"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 11:52 pm

Basil purred happily. He couldn't wait as he closed his eyes and rocked a bit. It would be so nnice to hear a good musician again. "I can't wait. I bet it will be beautiful." His tail twitched slightly around him as he watched the people go by. He hadn't taken a break like this for so long. It was quite nice to sit and chat with the new feline. Possibly they could become freinds... The thought instantly kept his purr alive.

When asked the question he grinned and looked at Jigue. "Yeah. I have nothing else to do at home but read. Don't get me wrong, I love reading, my house is full of books, but I save that till when it gets dark, where I can curl up with a nice story and tea. I make murals when ever it isnt wet or snowing." Personally, he wasnt much of a fan of cold weather... probably because he was a cat. <3

At the idea of the other stopping by he grasped his hands and purred. "That would be lovely!! It would be so nice to have you be around for awhile! Then when I get done, we can go for tea, or dessert!" Yeah... he was also a sucker for sweet things, but it seemed to match his personality, and he wasnt afraid to admit that fact. "Better yet! You can help me!"

Getting swept up in the idea he let go of the other and began to ramble on about things before he stopped and put a finger to his own lips while thinking then tilted his head so he could look at the feling again. "Then again... It would be just so warming to have you just be here. Would you come by more often? That way we can visit. It does get quite lonely when I work...."

Jigue blushed at Basil's confidence in his music as he looked down at his violin case, grip lessening in tightness. This was the first time someone else had actually made him want to play in front of them, and he loved the feeling. Quietly, he began to come up with notes that he could play, inspired by the cat before him. It had been so long since he had written a new piece, usually just playing random notes that came to mind or something that he heard. With inspiration taking hold, he whipped out a small writing tablet and mechanical pencil from his vest's pocket and began scribbling down the notes as he listened to Basil speak, a wide grin gracing his lips.

He looked up from the tablet, trying to come up with the next part as he listened to Basil's sweet voice. His ears twitched at the idea of the other reading and it made him smile. "I know what you mean. When there's nice weather out, you have to greet it. The feeling is not lost on me!" he giggled. He may get too hot sometimes, but he still loved every chance he got outside.

Jigue couldn't help his laughter after hearing Basil's excitement over him stopping by more often, glad he was fond of the idea as well. "I'd be happy to come by here more, then! Tea and dessert sounds great; then we could get to know each other better," he purred, glad knowing that he might have made a new friend. However, he began to play with the fur on his foot at the mention of him helping with his works of art. Was he really that good? It didn't matter to him after a brief time dwelling; after all, coloring together brought them to this point! "I'd love to help you!" he chirped, smile once again visible. "I need to get some fresh air more often anyway, and this is the perfect way to do so!" He was often locked in his room, hiding from the world and even despising it sometimes, but maybe Basil could help turn that thought pattern around?
