Pretty much, since the old world of darkness campaign on this guild is doing the best out of everyone, I would like to put it up to you, the members, if you would like to have a nWoD or oWod games? If there's a good response for the old, then we shall go old. If there's a response for the new, then we'll go with the new. I think I know how this is going to come out, but for the sake of argument, please vote.
Blatent Threat: You have one month to make your decision! Ok, that's the meanest that I'll ever make it.

I have voiced my opinion on this matter once before, and I shall stick to it.
oWoD rules, nWoD sucks.

I admit, I have never played the nWOD games, and I've only ever played Vampire of the oWOD games. I'm not completely opposed to nWOD in theory; I'm just unfamiliar and lack the money to buy new books.
As such, I'm willing to try the new system, but I have no clue where to start with character creation. (Honestly, I have about 3 Vampire characters right now, and I could always attempt to convert them from Masquerade to Requiem if absolutely necessary.)
I understand that some people cut their teeth on nWOD, but there are the curmudgeons sticking to oWOD. I think it might be a good idea to offer both.

Ironic Discordia, I completely agree with you. As much as I'm sure you would love to try out nWoD, please allow me to explain my reasoning behind my firm backing of oWoD (in case any of you missed it).
Also, let me state before I begin, that I've only ever played Vampire in each of oWoD and nWoD, so don't let this mislead all of you Mage and Werewolf players. Thank you. =D
1. There is practically no story. Each covenant has their own views of how vampires were created, and none of them are very fleshed out, so three of the five covenants think that, all of a sudden, *pop*! Vampires just appeared. I particularly like the oWoD story of Caine and the Book of Nod as a better and more logical explanation for the creation of Kindred.
2. The dice rolling. Instead of setting a difficulty for each die roll, every die roll is made at difficulty 7. Plus, the specialties rule was switched, so that specialties give you a +1 to your die pool, and 10s are automatically re-rolled on every die roll. Oh, and did I mention? No botches. That's right. The only way you can botch a roll in Requiem is if your dice pool is reduced to zero, and that "chance die" comes up a 1. Which means that you must be completely horrible at a task to screw up on it. Hell, in RL, I type practically for a living, yet I still make spelling and grammatical errors. I don't need to be blind to have that happen, it's nature. It just makes no sense to me.
3. All modifiers affect dice pools. This goes hand in hand with what I said above on the difficulty being removed. Any modifiers affect your dice pool. There is no changing the difficulty of the roll. So as a task gets harder, it's not the task itself that becomes harder, your skill technically becomes weaker! It's ridiculous, because it makes every task so much harder, instead of just upping the difficulty of the task itself and performing it at the same skill level.
4. Willpower. In oWoD, 1 WP = 1 success. In nWoD, 1 WP = +3 dice to your dice pool. Wow. As if that didn't make things too easy. All you have to do is make a Gangrel with Stamina and Strength high, then in a fight, Blood Boost and WP. Bam! +5 dice. You're a ******** tank. Ridiculous.
Ugh. It actually makes me sick that this game became so much less than oWoD, when it was supposed to be improved. I suppose, though, that going from the best game in the world, the only direction you can go is down, right? =D
Oh, and by the way, I did cut my teeth on Requiem, and still thought it sucked when I tried Masquerade for the first time after 8 months of frustrating Requiem situations. So I'm not biased in any way, I've experienced both, and by all rights should be more geared towards Requiem, but in my opinion, it's just a worse game.
Whew.
However, the best learning experience is to form your own opinions, so please, by all means, do not let me hinder you from doing just that. =D

I agree with SoReal0. The new rules make it seem just a little bit closer to the d20 system for DnD, and the characters aren't as fleshed out as in the old one. I'll let you borrow my books so that you can make an oWoD Vampire game, if you'd like.

Wow, that system's even more screwed up than I thought. I've never really looked at the mechanics in idly going through the books. That's just . . . stupid. The original system of changing the DC based on the individual situation makes far more sense than what you just described.
I honestly don't see why they made most of the changes they did. They only came up with 2 new clans, kept almost all of the major 13 from Masquerade as clans or bloodlines.
I have oWOD books. Not hard copies, but I have them. My ST has almost every Masquerade book on his hard drive, so it's just a matter of bugging him for more. xd Our group's not switching to nWOD anytime soon. If I join the Vampire game that's currently going, I'd need to find a way of making a new character and sussing out what all those bloody covenants are for.

Hmm... Well, normally I would say something to the effect of, "What the bloody hell are you thinking? If you've already got a Masquerade group, for heaven's sake, stick with it!"
But, for the sake, of promoting the guild, I shall simply say, "Sure. Give it a try. Who knows? You may end up liking it."

At any rate, I mostly joined the guild so I have something to fall back on during breaks in my regular playing schedule. I'm willing to try Requiem if that's what the guild is offering. But I'd gladly play Masquerade instead.

(just kidding disclaimer) Let's see you go from one of the staff of this lovely guild to just a member, and the we'll hear you talk. *evil laugh* Ironic Discordia Oh, don't get me wrong; I have every intention of sticking with my RL group. I probably shouldn't have made the poll last so long, but there are so many people in this guild, and only 6 have voiced their opinion, including the staff, so I'll wait to see if there's anyone out there that really wants to do Vampire:tR. Otherwise, you will get your wish, and I'll try to fit the adventure I wrote around the oWoD rules. eothemina I'll let you borrow my books so that you can make an oWoD Vampire game, if you'd like. If you can come over tonight, then I'll look at them then. I didn't know that you have oWoD books... they're probably next to your first edition DnD role players guide. Anyway, sure, let me take a look, so that I kinda know what I might be getting myself into.

Wow... Yeah, I'd say that the poll was pretty unanimous. The people have spoken! Rawr!
Anyway, I think it would be kind of fun to set up an oWoD campaign. Something perhaps a while before Gehenna, before the week of shadows (or whatever the bloody hell you call it), back before anything interesting happens, so that we can play it out when it does.
A question then arises, though... What would be the rules on Clan/Sect/Generation restrictions and Antitribu?
Tee-hee. I'm already drawing up my 6th Gen. Lasombra Antitribu as we speak. *evil laugh*

I have digital versions of the V:tM player's manual and a couple clan books. My ST has all of the clan books and most of the other books as PDFs.
A pre-Gehenna game sounds fun. Although my current chronicle is wrapping up Gehenna right now. I guess you only get to play once and be surprised. xd
Rules-wise, I don't think it'd be too difficult to convert a campaign. And it seems you'll have plenty of help. biggrin

It will be a go. ... She asked me to post this up, and seeing that she didn't make me one of the staff, I can't do it in there. Unfortunately, she had a pretty bad accident. Let's just say that it involved a unicycle and landed her in the hospital. Things are looking better, though, and she hopes to be out of there by tuesday, and if she had her own way, she'd be out of there right now. But, until that time comes, and she's feeling better, I'm afraid that this will have to wait. She really misses this place, and told me to get in here, and make sven the new leader for the time being, and collect her daily's. Prayers are always appreciated. Thanks.

Some thoughts...
People seem to want a old-school Vampire game, and our current ST is out, so we need something to keep the vampire players busy anyway. Does anyone want to run a Masquerade game?

I'd be willing to give it a shot. I wouldn't be able to get anything together until Wednesday at the earliest, though. Do people want a pre-Gehenna game, or one that starts just before and runs into the Time of Judgment? ('Cause I'm still playing through Gehenna for the first time anyhow.)
