Krystal groaned for a moment, hands circled around her zoids controls. Suddenly she pulled back, causing the Aro Saurer to stumble backwards a few steps; the zoid voiced his opinion on the latter.
"I'm sorry, big guy! I get nervous when it's so dark out!"
Aro mearly hissed, computer language flashing up on the screen infront of his pilot.
"Yes yes......You want to get home as much as I do!"
Flipping on the built-in radar, the two continued on their way through the empty expanse of field, or at least they thought it was empty.....

He really wasn't all that tired, but he was exceedingly bored. His teammates had gotten a room in the nearby town, and by this time, they were probably asleep. He envied them. Being a former soldier, he'd grown used to sleeping four or five hours a night at most, and old habits die hard, so he'd decided to take Nero out for a run. While it had been mildly fun being able to dash around at full speed in a completely open area, darkness fell unnaturally quickly, and Rion was afraid of moving too fast, lest he hit something. Or someone. The console beeped, catching Rion's attention, and he looked down at the sensor readout. Apparently, something Zoid-sized was approaching at a fairly rapid rate. There was only one blip, though. Odd. "A scout, maybe?" he mused. "Only one way to find out, I guess." In a flash, the control gloves and helmet were on, and the Hybrid Liger began moving toward the other Zoid's location, quickly accelerating to a good 200 kilometers per hour. If it was an enemy, it wouldn't do to let it reach the town before he did. Right now, the best course of action was to simply head it off, which he did promptly, the high-speed Liger catching up to and cutting off the Aro Saurer in short order. "So, a Republican Zoid... best to tread lightly... not give myself away..." Rion activated his com-link, patching himself through to the Saurer's cockpit. "Hey there! Where do you think you're going?"

"WHOA! HOLY GEEBUS!"
Kris yanked backwards on the zoids' controls, stopping her Aro Saurer from running into the zoid that ran infront of their path.
Okay, now that was plain rude! Kris was about to bust a vein, and thius decided to vent some of her emotions on this person. Just as the rookie pilot was about to patch through to the other rider, he beat her to the punch.
"Hey there! Where do you think you're going?"
"Where am I GOING?! I'm going to spend the night at the inn and then i'm going home! THAT'S where i'm going!!"
Sighing, she turned off the com-link for a few moments before patching through to the other pilot again.
"I apologize, I didn't mean to yell at you. I'm just tired, and need a good nights sleep to recharge."

Rion considered her words for a minute. Her explanation did sound genuine, and he doubted that the republic would send a lone Aro Saurer to attack him. In the end, he decided to take her word for it.
"My apologies as well. Not too many combat-ready Zoids pass through here, and I thought you might have been an attacker. My teammates are sleeping in that town, so I had to make sure. You're a Zoid fighter, then?"
He paused, then continued.
"Would it be too much of an imposition if I asked you for a battle? I'm rather short on credits, and I'm trying to make Class D."

"I do fight but I don't attack innocent people."
She accepted his apology before pondering his invitation for a battle.
"Alright, i'll battle!" She grinned at the other pilot, already feeling that sharp rush of energy.
"I'm a bit short on credits myself, got kicked out of a deli yesterday because of that, so what do ya say we start right now; a blind battle would be interesting, no?"

Rion grinned.
"Sounds like we're in the same boat. Okay, I'll start us off."
Shoving his hands into the slots in the console, Orion completed the neural link with the Bio Zoid and brought the Liger to life. With a roar, the black beast snapped out its blades, extending one one straight out on each side, and charged, hoping to slash through the Saurer's midsection.
New EP = 27

Kris quickly shoved the controls to side, but didn't dodge fast enough. The Ligers' blade left a fairly decent dent in the side of her Aro Saurer.
"Alrighty then, let me try this on for size!"
Darting backwards a few feet, Aro went into a semi-crouch; after a few seconds, the blue zoid lashed out with it's claws. Ep: 25 25+ 70(1/2)= 60 60-55= 5 Hp: 285 O.O

The Aro Saurer's claws swung, trying to rake across the Liger's flank, but barely managed to scratch the paint as Orion hopped the Zoid backwards.
"C'mon, you can do better than that with those huge claws. Like this!"
The Hybrid Liger dashed forward, front claws extended, and slammed straight into the Aro Saurer's chest.
New EP = 25

"Ay ya!"
Kris was about to a flip had it not been for Aros' anchors that she had quickly set beforehand.
"Dang! That was a pretty good hit! But what do ya say I try something a bit less......physical?"
Aro hissed at the black liger, again going into another semi-crouch. This time, however, the cannons upon it's back swiveled and fired. Ep:20 25+80=105 105-55= 50 285-50= 235, new hp.

The Hybrid Liger was thrown back slightly as the cannon fire thudded into its body.
"That's the spirit! Now here's one for you!"
The Liger's E-Shield came to life, a pink capsule of energy springing up first around the Zoid before setting itself back against the mane, exposing the head.
Opening its mouth, the Liger set its feet as a fiery corona of light began gathering in the back of its throat. Half a second later, the particle beam shot from its mouth, the ray of light energy colliding with the Aro Saurer.

Kris winced slightly as her zoid stumbled from a fair hit.
"Well........this is getting entertaining, no? Let's see what else ya got!"
Flicking several switches on the Aros' dashboard, she grinned as the plasma torches set in the zois' claws flared to life. Hissing another challange, the zoid sprinted foreward and made a slashing motion at it's opponent. EP: 13 Attack missed......

The Hybrid Liger dodged agilely away from the Aro Saurer's attack.
"Not quite fast enough."
The Liger's blades snapped out yet again, and it charged...
...and missed.
"Crap."

"Hm.......i'd say we both have a case of the miss-es tonight!"
Smiling, she again tried her zoids' beam cannon........
Only to find that the torches had drained a large amout of Aros' power, causing the attack to only be at half-power.
"C'mon buddy.....just little longer!" Ep: 8 25+80(1/2)= 65 65-55= 15 235-15= 220, new hp.

"I guess we do," Rion grinned as he maneuvered the Liger out of the Aro's line of fire and dodged away to the dino's left. He checked the damage readout.
"Hm. Okay, time to wrap this up."
The Liger's blades slid forward until they were at 30 degree angles to the Zoid's sides, and Rion charged, trying to impale the Aro Saurer on the left blade.

Kris's zoid stumbled once...twice....three times before it finally came to its' knees with a large cloud of steam hissing from it's hydrolics.
After a few moments, the cockpit opened and Krystal leaped over the side; she spoke to the exhausted zoid, gently stroking the side of its' face.
"It's over for now, my friend......you just get some rest and i'll have you fixed up in a jiffy."
Flipping on her portable com-link, she patched in to the other pilot.
"Nice battle, I had a lot of fun. Why don't ya come down and i'll hand over some credit, ya?"
