Hah, sometimes I absolutely love English weather because today, guess what? SCHOOL IS CLOSEDXD Because the roof blew off! The wind here is about 70 mph at the moment, so it wouldn't surprise me if all the crappy sixties/seventies architecture gets destroyed.

Anyway, I am uber happy now!!

We had 60 mph winds but we still had to go to school! Lucky!

Oh, god, what happened?
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 10:16 am

27 degrees... slight snow... 10 mph winds... just enough to make it annoying...

Then again, being a chicago resident, I literally wore shorts to school today.

as did a lot of others, I'm not just insane...

Crushed by a lift? oh my...
umm... lift as in elevator?
lift as in like machinery?
lift as in like a forklift?

language barriers...

Oh, I wish we had snow... Though they say we will on tuesday, however I don't believe a word the met office say. How can you wear shorts? That is crazy! We have a woodburning stove firing away in the living room, where I am now, so it is all snuggly warm!

The news just said the winds were 98mph at the end of Southwold pier...

Lucky! Chicago isn't the windy city its made out to be... Its not very often that we actually get ground level winds at anything above 20...

I remember flying a kite in 60+ mph winds before a huge storm came (actually flooded our street/basement...) It was a huge like 12 foot kite, nearly lifted me right up (and thats a big feat, I am 6'1" , 93 kg

The wind has kind of calmed down now, but they cut the big tree outside down so I can't quite tell...

You got flooded? I live on one of the few hills in the area (East Anglia= uber flat) so we don't have that problem, also we don't have a basement either. I'd like to have a basement though, have it soundproofed, put in a piano, music stand, wireless connection to my laptop, fridge maybe and a bed. I would never leaveXD

12ft? Like a parachute type thing?XD
PostPosted: Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:14 am

12 feet... it was like a large tiger... it had many different segments, so it was about 12 feet long, 6 feet diameter... so it wasn't like a parachute... I'm pretty sure IF i had used a parachute it would've pulled me straight up into the sky.
----

We get flooded all to often... that whole "plains" thing doesn't do wonders for water run-off.

It was 65 degrees when I walked out the door at 6:30 this morning. Its in the 70's now stare I never wear shorts....ever....., but if I did I could be waring them right now. I think the high is like 81 degrees today.

If I a kite that size you'd never get me down! I am 5'4" and 109 lb, so a 6 ft. kite could probably lift me..... (Yes those are American measurements because I'm terrible at the metric system.....well converting it anyway...)

I didn't have togo to school on the 17th, becuase it "snowed"
well I would never say what happened was snow
almost all of the "snow" melted as soon as it was time to go to school

My parent's friend in New Hampshire always laughs at us because there is such a HUGE cuffufle when there is about two millimetres of snow! School is still usually closed though, because none of the buses can operate in cold weather, or hot weather, or windy weather, or... well, they're just crap!
