The Underworld

User ImageThe underworld is known as many different things. The most common name is Hell, but that comes along with the Christian denotation of a fiery place where your soul rots for all eternity. Granted, there are some flames and lava in some areas, but there is no man with a pitchfork.

Firstly, the underworld consists of many different levels regarding depth and the species found living there. Starting just below the surface is the realm of drow elves. Below that is a stretch of vast, treacherous caverns with wild creatures prowling about. Once you get through the maze of caverns, you come upon the realm of lesser demons. These are the weaker members of the demon species. Some of them are civilized, while others are simply ravenous beasts. No one really makes it down to this depths, and if they do, they honestly won't last long.

After a few more maze-like caverns you come to the realm of the greater demons, or as it's more commonly known, the Grand City and capitol of the underworld. This is where the stronger demons live, as well as the royalty and King of the underworld. These demons pride themselves on being powerful, pure blood demons, as well as being more civilized than the other creatures of the underworld. This realm though is protected by a dark energy barrier that keeps all unwanted visitors out, not to mention the insanely deadly trip there.

In the center of the Grand City is a large castle complex that houses the king and all his accompanying royalty and military. The king, who is the most powerful demon in the realm, has a court made up of seven of his most trusted and powerful allies. Their bloodline stretches back as far as their records go. Each member of the court gets his or her own precinct in the complex where they live with their family and personal guard.

Lastly, far beneath the Grand City lies a barren wasteland of dark caverns. Here is where all dark energy resides. This is the place where the damned souls come, but not to be punished for eternity. Once here, the soul's very essence is broken down into one of it's basic elements: dark energy. No living creature can survive here for more than a minute before their very soul is shredded while still alive.

In front of the most lavish looking precincts in the citadel opened up a black, swirling portal. Out of the portal stepped General Sendo, followed by two guards carrying Glissa, and two more guards behind them. They made their way up to the enormous entry gate and were immediately let through into the main mansion. Glissa woke in the healers room, and wearily looked around as she tried to figure out where exactly she was. She was on an alter like table made of black granite. There was blood everywhere, most likely her own. The healer was digging through shelves at the far end of the room, and when she heard the noise of Glissa trying to sit up, quickly hurried back over to her.

"Don't move your majesty!" She urged, trying to lay Glissa back down. Blood running down the side of her mouth and she kept coughing up even more.

"Is that you, Lucifa?"

"Yes your majesty."

"What... What happened? Why am I not able to heal myself?"

"All your internal organs were crushed and many of your bones broken. It was too much for your system to handle. I gave you several healing remedies and have been using magic every thirty minutes or so."

"Is that so..." Glissa stared up at the ceiling, her eyes dull and almost lifeless.

"Yes your majesty. You should be well enough to move by tomorrow morning."

"And how long until I can go to the surface?"

"I'm not sure your majesty. It all depends on how quickly you heal after the remedies wear off." Glissa coughed up more blood.

"No more talking, your majesty. Just rest."

"One last thing. What about my father?"

"He is extremely worried, your majesty. He sent a hunting party to the surface world to search for the traitor, and security has been tripled around the citadel entirely. He wishes to see you as soon as you are well. Don't worry, your majesty. He is not as angry this time. Now sleep." Lucifa finished cleaning up the room before leaving. Glissa closed her eyes and let out a gurgled sigh.

"Not as angry... Yet..."

Meanwhile, about a hundred miles off, Kirai was huddled up against a rock, his shirt ripped and mangled and torn horribly, and there was blood dried at the frays of the fabric. Not from fighting, from avoiding being noticed. He was on a stealth mission, and that meant stealth at any cost. coming all this way to get caught on an assasination mission would mean that all his efforts were in vain, an he qould probably be executed on point. He had already made sure that he wasnt gonna die like a pig.
He silently pulled his scroll up to his nose, sniffing it. The tear-drop tip glowed red silently as he sniffed it. Kirai turned around, looking off into the distance to see a glowing dot on the edge of the horizon; he could smell the scent of her blood from even there. Silently and stealthfully, Kirai advanced through alleyways, hidden and protected by shadows. The dot gradually grew bigger as hours passed, until its shape began to come into definition. Kirai stopped, huddling agaisnt the wall again. They werew a mile off, but he could hear them; Guards, about 60 of them.(you said tripled so im gonna assume theres normally 20)
Kirai sumoned a demon silently, mouthing the name "Earthspawn".
The demon made of rocks and mud sat there, its brown pupil contracting and dilating randomly. Kirai grabbed it, and fused with it, his skin turning into mud. He smacked his hands together, and the became a rough version of a drill. HE slammed the tip into the ground, digging into it frantically. After a moment, several guards appeared at the place where he was, but not a hint of his excavation remained; he had filled it with cast-mold mud. A mile under the ground, kirai was excavating the ground, molding with ith it.
"Im gonna get you, Glissa...Just you wait...you wont even know what hit you.."

Glissa's eyes shot open and she stared into the darkness. All the lights in the room were out, and since it was in the center of the mansion, there were no windows either. Glissa had a sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her body and immediately deterred her. It was bad. She felt like rolling off the alter and vomiting on the floor. She couldn't tell if it was because of the ancient remedies or something else. Her head was spinning and her thoughts blurred, and because of that she couldn't distinguish the rising feeling of dread in her stomach. There was a scratching noise outside the door and then a knock.

"Excuse me your highness. Is everything all right in there?" a guards voice asked through the door. As soon as Glissa opened her mouth to reply, the familiar taste of blood mixed with bile swam into the back of her mouth, ans she immediately closed it. She settled on giving a weak "Mmmhmm" in reply.

"Very well, your highness. If you need anything at all, let us know." The sickening feeling in her stomach never lessened.

Kirai stopped moving, then closed his eyes, meditating slightly. His mental third eye floated up, and saw that Glissa was there.
"Jackpot."
Kirai opened his eyes, then began to dig up. Eventually, He reached open air. But after that, there was wood; the floorboards of the mansion were directly aove his head. Disbanding the earth demon upon de-fusion, he summoned up a spectrespawn, and fused with it. he made his protoplasm transparent, causing him to go invisible. he floated up through the floorboards, and watched glissa from the far wall. He drifted closer to glissa, keeping a dull eye on her. something inside of his head clicked.
'ITs not the right time. Im gonna kill her when shes better; theres no honor dying on your back, without a chance to defend yourself. ill give her till mid-day tommorrow..'
And with that, kirai floated back and melded with the wall, his invisible head barely sticiking out enough for him to keep a security-camera-view on her.

Glissa kept her eyes closed, but she could tell there was something else in the room with her. Her stomach was in knots and there was an energy in the room that made the hair on her arms stand on end. After what seemed like hours it finally receded away, but she still felt sick. Slowly she drifted into unconsciousness.

~~~
Early the next day Lucifa came back into the room carrying a tray full of food. When Glissa heard her she turned her head to look, not daring to try and sit up.
"Come on now, your highness. You should be able to sit on your own now. The remedies can heal all injuries in 24 hours or less. All that's left now is to recover your strength and energy! Here, eat this." Lucifa sat the tray down at the edge of the table and hurried to help Glissa sit up. Glissa just stared at the food blankly. She had no appetite and was feeling even worse than last night.
"My father will be coming to see me today, won't he?" she asked coldly.
"Umm... I believe so, your highness... Why do you ask?"
"Its going to be exactly like the last time I came home. He's going to punish me for leaving the underworld. I know he is. And the I'll be stuck in here for another week. Just like last time..." Lucifa's jaw dropped. She knew every word of what Glissa had said was true.
"Now now, your highness. I don't think he'll do anything of the sort." Glissa snorted in reply and pushed the tray away. She knew eating before getting the crap beaten out of you was never a good thing, and she had no appetite to boot. Lucifa bowed low, then turned and left the room.
Kirai Awoke from his silent slumber in the wall at the sound of the door being opened. he listened to the little chat that Glissa had with her servant, and smirked.
'She'll be leaving here before the week is up...but itll be in a body bag.'
He watched as she pushed the tray away. Something still didnt sette right with him...the kill wouldnt be big enough. perhaps if her father was here, he could kill her in front of him...that would get the underworld in a knot...theyd be searching for him like crazy then. Theyd respect or fear him.either way, both sounded just fine to him. as long as they knew who he was. HE drifted over so that he was right next to glissa, trying his best to conceal his aura.
'simple fool doesnt even realize that her life rests in my hands at this very moment....I should relish this feeling, because im probably not gonna enjoy this oppurtunity ever again..'
PostPosted: Sat Jan 20, 2007 8:49 pm
As Glissa sat there, the sickening feeling in her stomach worsened again and she could feel that energy in the room again. She felt it move from the back wall to right next to her. She stayed as still for as long as she could handle it. Then she snapped. Her eyes went into slits as she spun around on the alter, sending the tray of food crashing to the floor. She hissed and desperately clawed at the spot where the energy was coming from. She wanted to go away with every fiber of her being. She knew her father was going to beat her untill near death, but she wanted at least to have some shred of dignity as she stood before his towering figure.
"STOP IT!!! GO AWAY!!!" She hissed, coughing up more blood in the process.
"Let me die in peace, damn it!" Tears were streaming down her face now, one side tinted red with blood.
Kirai floated and loomed around glissa tauntingly, like a ghost. He even wrapped an invisible arm around her like he was her friend, just to torture her with the fact that he could do so.
He actually spoke once, leaning over to be right next to her ear. He whispered in an ever-so-faint tone..
"But thats not fun...no. Id rather let you die by my own hand."
He floated off to the ceiling ominously, then began to watch to see what would unfold next.
'This next part should be quite interesting....'
He floated there, crossing his legs casually. He watched her squirm, literally.
Her eyes dilated when she heard the voice.
"You..." She let out a ear piercing scream just as the guards burst into the because of the noise.
"What's wrong, your majesty?" They could see no one else in the room. Glissa spun around and charged and the guards, sending one flying out the door way and smashing into the corridor wall and pinning the second up against the wall by the neck. She coughed up blood again and dropped him to the ground. There was a slow menacing clapping and Glissa froze. A tall figure strolled calmly into the room.
"Bravo, my sweet. Even in your weakened state, you can out do our finest guards. Bravo. But now, tell me what's bothering you so much." The man stood about two heads above Glissa and was clothed in ornate silks and velvets. There was huge aura of energy surrounding him. As soon as she heard his voice, Glissa straightened. She spun around and bowed low.
"Hello Father. Do not concern yourself with my suffering. It would seem that I am being haunted by my assailant from the surface world. Nothing more than that."
"Well that's what you deserve!" he spat. His voice was deeper now, much more stern, and you could make out the anger hidden beneath his smooth voice.
"You deserve much worse than that for deserting us! Look at me Glissa!" Glissa rose from the bow and looked her father in the eyes. A split second later he had her by the throat, her feet a good foot off the ground.
"You listen to me you worthless piece of s**t! If I ever catch you disgracing out family name again, you will tossed into the pit along with the rest of the surface scum! Do you understand me?" His voice echoed through the empty room and hallway.
"Y... Yes... F... Father." Glissa could barely choke out those words.
"B... But..."
"You will NOT disobey me!!!" he thundered. With a flick of his wrist he flung Glissa like a rag doll across the room. She crashed into the opposite wall with such force that it crushed all the rock. She choked up more blood as she slid down to the floor in a motionless slump.
Something inside of kirai snapped, and energy and rage began to pour out of him like water from a broken hose-faucet. He completely disbanded the spectre spawn, and kicked off of the ceiling, flying down with thunder-like speed. His tag reached out like a blade, and stiffened, turning completely black. He spun at the last second, and basically smacked Glissa's father aside with all of the energy he had. He extended his arm, and spun around on it like a breakdancer would, and did a spin kick to knock her airborne father the opposite way that he was originally going. He stood there as he watched him fly into a rock just as his daughter had just done.
"Nobody kills my prey but me...."
there was a tremendous explosion as He collided with the wall. Kirai faced glissa, and began to head towards her. His scroll writhed with hatred and energy, its black aura drifting off in massive waves.
Glissa tried with all the strength she had left to open her eyes. She saw through blurred vision as her father got tossed aside. Then things went black again. When her vision returned, Kirai was towering right in front of her, pure hatred etched across his face. She leaned her head back to look up at him, causing it the hit the wall with a thud. Surprisingly, she felt absolutely no pain. Suddenly, her eyes widened with fear and she moved her mouth, but no sound came out. Her throught was crushed and she was having enough trouble breathing as it was. She raised a shaky hand and pointed to directly behind Kirai. Directly to where her father stood, sword drawn and about to slice right through Kirai's neck.
Kirai noticed the shadow moving like it was. Kirai raised his hand for just a moment, and the scroll disappeared.
The blade made contact with his neck, but only as tiny shread of metal.
"Old man....You wont kill me. Naught a demon have been able to slay me in all of the years ive lived. The scroll that just broke your sword? For every rune on it, i have taken control of an entire generation of demons. There are few left that i cannot spawn."
He turned around to face her father. His scroll glowed black again.
"This place is like a meat market for me. All the demons i have yet to tame lay within these walls."
His eyes went wide with lustful power. but then, his attention turned back to glissa; she desperately needed medical attention...and her staying here after what he had done was NOT an option. He had to get her back to tenshi.
"Warpspawn!"
A demon formed in the air. It seemed to be like a floating rainbow.
He moved swiftly over to Glissa, and lifted her up tenderly, slinging her over his shoulder. He reached over and touched the warpspawn at the last second, before her father could do anything.
( im osrreh if this messed with your post.. plese forgive meh XD)
Glissa coughed up blood again as she was hoisted onto Kirai's back.
"Wh..." She strained to talk, but she had to know. Part of her felt like using the last bit of her energy to strangle him, and the other part was confused beyond belief.
"Why... Why are you helping me?" She managed to blurt weakly before choking on the ever present blood coming up from her stomach.
"Because, Glissa. You are the only one i have never beaten. I wanted to kill you, but that changed. for different reasons. if you die, my dorm room closes down, and ill need a new place to stay. the other reason is..."
They had gotten far enough away from security to where he could heal her.
"Curespawn!"
A Woman with demon wings for ears appeared next to him, wearing a nurses outfit. she had a single syringe. Kirai took it from her swiftly, and she gave him a wink and burst into smoke. He took her wrist and injected the liquid into her. a burning sensation spread throughout her as her insides were rapidly healed. after about two minutes, she wouldve been okay. he lifted her up again.
"the other reason glissa?...Because. You interest me beyond words, as strange as that seems. Speedspawn!"
a demon appeared, whom resembled the speed alien from Ben 10 on cartoon network..but with a much more evil appearance. He grabbed the demon, fusing with it. He ran as fast as he could, whizzing past everything that saw him at several hundreds of miles per hour.
