There was a slight spring in his step as he made his way back through the woods towards the small clearing that he and Kitara had made into a temporary home. It had been hard for both of them to stay in one place for such a long time... Tied down wasn't something that wild spirits were meant to be. They had done their best though... One leaving while the other watched over the baskets.

He shouldn' have been gone as long as he had been and he knew it. They weren't generally gone longer than an hour or two here and there... He'd been out all night and he'd enjoyed himself. He'd enjoyed himself more than he had in a long time. It had felt good to be free again... Even if it had been for just a short time... A short time that had been long enough to leave gold and green imbedded in his mind.

The mare was quietly dozing next to the hord of baskets. She huffed softly and opened her eyes as she heard the sound of approching hoof beats. Her ears laid flat against her head as she scowled towards the approching form, and while she was angry with him for leaving for so long she could sympathize with his needs. Even now she wanted to get up and run away, only to return at her leisure... should she want to return.

She placed her head on one of the baskets which promptly squeeked at its mother. "Remy... where have you been? I havent seen you since last night." she asked him calmly, though her voice dripped with her anger.

The basket under her chipp pressed up against her and began making the largest racket. It squeeked as if to say "let me up!", the sound of a small colt inside.

"Ah went for a run on da' plains" He bristled slightly as he took a step towards the mare, nose giving a little wrinkle when he eyed the baskets' movements. "Lost track 'o time..." He'd lost track of more than time. For a moment he'd almost forgotten that he had this to return to.

The basket gave a slight shift as the small form that had grown within it stretched out. There were sounds coming from outside... Outside. There was such a place. Even if the voices weren't calling to her, it seemed to be.

The little brown and blue basket wiggled. He could hear things, sounds of others, and he was curious as to what was going on. There were the voice he knew to be his 'parents' and there was a new one. That was the one he wanted to find out about.

Kitara eyed him softly, for a moment... it seemed as if he hadnt wanted to return. Perhaps... this was going to be a burdon to him after all. The mare heaved a sigh and stood, shaking her head softly as she looked up at Remy. "We cant change what happened... I'm sorry I have chained you down, and I think you know that I can sympathize with how that must make you feel....But we have them to look after now. I want them to be free, But I also want them to know their father." Her words where tender, but held an under tone of sterness.

She knew how he felt, after all they had both been wild spirits running on the plains. The chocolate mare signed softly and looked down at the baskets, changing the topic to something that would hopefuly proove more fruitful. "They have been growing swiftly...Soon enough maybe they can join us on a run Remy." she said, a small spark in her eye and a smile edging onto her face.

The basket shifted again, nearly spinning in a circle as the foal inside shifted his weight. He had been learning to mimic the sounds of the adults, but it didnt look like it was doing him much good. Shakly he pulled his legs under himself and tried his best to push on the lid where his mothers head had been. He had heard other noises outside and wanted to know what they where, little squeeks that had reached his ears.

"'Course d'ey gonna know me, chere. Ah here, ain't Ah? No need for you ta be sorry... We'll run again." He nickered softly as he leaned in to touch his nose to her neck. This close she might have been able to catch a slight scent of something that she wouldn't have been able to before... A trace of spring warmth mingling with his fire.

She stretched once more, this time managing to nudge the lid of her own basket with her head, attempting to nudge it aside so that she could see the source of this wonder... Her legs gave a little wobble as she tried to stand, not quite sure that she'd be able to... Falling back down into her basket with a little huff.

They were still talking and he wanted to know what was going on. Huffing he nudged at the basket lid until he had his nose sticking out. The lid wouldn't fall off but at least now he could sniff at things.

The gentle mare closed her eyes as he pressed his nose against her neck in a tender caress that she had grown fond of. The air around them shifted as a slight breeze rustled pass them, and for but a moment she smelled a scent that was not Remy's and was not that of their baskets. Her brown furrowed for a moment as the wind took the scent away from her and it drifted easily from her mind, to be filed away for later.

She opened her eyes and looked down at the baskets, in time to see a tiny nose stick out. "Oh Remy look!" she esclaimed as she moved away from him and to the basket of the blue colt. "Hi there.." she cooed affectionately at the basket and pressed her nose for the first time against the warmth of her son. "Remy... We need names for them" the thought struck her all at once and she blinked
.

The colt blinked as he heard his mother move past him, she was near and he could hear her speaking softly beside him, but she wasnt addressing him. He gave an undignified huff and streched his neck up with all his might. The top of the basket shifted slightly and then clunked back down on him. He looked up at it wide eyed.

"Ah heard Pretty Lady sayin' d'at littl'uns already have names... S'just a matter o' figurin' out what d'ey are." He nodded slowly, nickering softly as he turned towards the tiny nose peering out from the basket only to have his attention drawn away by the jumping lid. He leaned down, gently nosing the lid aside. "D'ere ya go. D'at bettah?"

She whined softly as she listened to the movement all around her save for where she was. Movement and sound... And she was stuck. In this strange cage-like thing. With a little wriggle of her backside she attemted to stand again, butting her head against the lid of the basket with all of her might so that she could break free. She didn't need any help.

With the basket lid gone he blinked bright eyes up at his parents. It only took him a moment before he decided being in the basket wasn't fun and he tried to stand up.

Standing didn't exactally work well as all he managed to do was trip over his previous home, thunk into his mother's legs, and end up back on the ground. Huffing he nipped at his legs as if they could be bullied into listening to him before he tried standing again.

Kitara smiled as the colt looked up at her and tried to stand, all at once he tried to stand up and then fell against her in a heep. "aww careful Dear... dont try too fast now. You're legs are still weak." She pressed her nose against him and inhaled his scent, the sweet downy fur brushing against her nose. He was easily the most handsome little colt she had ever laid eyes on. "Hmm... Do they name themselves then?" she wondered... It was times like this she wished her parents where around... maybe they could have offered her some help.

Her attention turned to the white basket, and the little squeeks from within. With out moving away from the colt at her feet she moved her head to gently nuzzle the basket. "Are you coming out too hon?" she asked it softly. "there is a whole big world out here waiting for you."

The colt looked up in awe as his father removed the lid of the basket. The sunlight streamed down upon him in warm and gentle rays. He blinked his eyes and slowly, brought his head up around the rim of the basket. The world and bright...and there where so many noises! His father was so big, He looked up with large eyes, nearly going cross eyed at the dark snout of Remy.

She snorted softly as her 'headbut' lifted the lid enough to let it topple off to the side... Not enough for her to escape completely, but enough for her to slip her body between and give a little wriggle on unsteady legs. Ha! That wasn't so hard, now was it?

"Ah think..." His own eyes crossed for a moment as he stared down at the colt that looked more like his mother than it did him. "... Ah think it gotta do with da way they act. Names who we are inside, chere. An' d'at one? She a little wild fire." He nickered, entertained by the filly.

He snorted as he tried to get his legs under him again. Stupid things needed to do what they were told. Toppling sideways he landed against his fathers' legs but managed to, thanks to that, stay on his feet. Alright so that wasn't how he'd planned it but it worked.

Eying his siblings he nickered softly. He was already up and they were just getting out so that meant he was older. Good thing to remember when they got in trouble.

Kitara smiled brightly as she looked around at their children. Remy was right, already they all seemed to be showing their own personalities. She nuzzled Remy softly, her nose brushing against his velvet fur. "You're right... I can tell she's going to be as head strong as both of us together... what about the other two... This one." she looked down at the blue colt at her hooves who reminded her so much of his father. "Is going to be trouble." she said, with out really thinking, it was just a notion that struck her as she watched him. "He is full of pride through, Look at him." she chuckled as he looked around at his siblings and seemed quite pleased with himself.

She didnt know about the other little boy though, he hadnt shown much yet other than being silly and looking up at his father cross eyed. Perhaps he was going to be the clown of the bunch?

The colt shook his head and nosed at his father, as if to say get out of the way. He made a little squeek and bounded out of the basket. His long legs where wobbly and seemed to sway for a moment, but he held his body up firmly. After a moment of standing there and not moving he puffed out his chest and held his head high in victory. He had beaten the basket and not fallen, and that made him one up on his brother.

"They all gonna be trouble, chere." He laughed as he took a step back, gently easing away from the blue colt so he could try to stand on his own. "Ah think you right 'bout dis one though..." There was something about the blue colt that reminded him of himself... Something beyond the coloration of his coat.

"... Ever hear what da two leggers call fire, chere?" He'd heard them saying words here and there and, bit by bit, he was begining to pick up on it. Their names always sounded so... Interesting... If they could be made out properly with how funny they spoke.

Carefully she picked up one leg, stepping out of her basket... Then the other... Followed by her hindquarters. Her movements weren't nearly as quick as either of her brothers'... But that didn't necissarily mean anything. She was just making sure that she did better than both of them. Ha.
